Antiques. Collectables, Paintings, Fine Ceramics and Glass 3 FRAMED 18 TH. CENTURY DUTCH DELFT MANGANESE TILES These three Dutch. Delft, manganese tiles are dated to around 1750. They make a superb set mounted in their frame. The ground is cream and design is in purplish brown colour. The scenes on the tiles are of the canal with windmill. Boats and farm or church with small designs in the corners. They are uniquely hand painted in this wonderfully naive style. The condition of all 3 tiles is particularly good for this age. There are a few frits and nibbles to the edge. Some crazing and the tile on the right is slightly brown on the top, this may be the result of old tobacco smoke. Each tile measures 13cm x 13 cm x 7mm(approximately) or 5¼ inches x 5¼ inches. The wooden frame measures just more than 17½ inches x 7½ inches. ... moreI have added more pictures to show the condition and thickness of the tiles out of the frame. I'm afraid the colour looks varied as I was having problems with my camera. Manganese is a mineral used since Egyptian times to stain glazes and bodies. The colour varies depending on the glaze. Lead glazes give a purplish brown colour. As with these tiles. Manganese mixed with iron in an alkaline glaze creates a rich black tone. Delftware tiles were very popular. Popular decorative motifs included landscapes and flowers. With smaller designs in each corner. In Britain early delftware copied the Dutch manganese palette. Lovely set of three(3) hand painted Makkum tiles in solid oak frames. The frames measure 7" x 7" The tiles are approximately 5 1/2" square. The tiles are not antique. But were produced in the 1970s at the original factory in Makkum, Holland, using traditional techniques and hand-painted by their professional artists. These collectibles are ready to be displayed. Vintage Set of 3 Miniature Dutch Holland Windmill Warrior Tiles
Vintage Set of 3 Tiles with Dutch or Holland type scenes of windmill and some type of Dutch or Holland building style and the third one is different style picturing what looks to be possibly a warrior. The tiles are unmarked so the maker and age of the tiles are unknown to me. They have been stored in a plastic case and are in excellent condition. No chips/cracks. They measure about 1 1/2" square and are miniature size tiles. Items are shipped to U.S. only. Tichelaar Makkum Dutch Tiles - lot of 2- windmill and drumming man
2 Dutch Blue Tiles by TICHELAAR MAKKUM 1. Windmill 2. Drumming man each are 5 x 5 inches& 3/8 of an inch thick From my research these tiles were manufactured by Tichelaar Makkum; one of the oldest Dutch pottery factories in Holland. The tiles are stamped with the 2 crossed Ts- the windmill tile has a 4 to the left and a G1 to the right. The drumming man tile has a 3 to the Left and a G1 to the right. Nicely glazed surfaces. The backgrounds are off white with a bluish tint. There are chips around the edges. No cracks or crazing that I can find. Took a lot of photos to show condition. The windmill tile has the bigger black marks on back.

Up for bid is a Set of 7 Dutch Tiles. They measure 4 1/4" by 4 1/4" square. And they are 1/8" thick. On the back they say Made in.it either says England, or Holland. A very unusual thing.someone has purposely rubbed off the country in which these were made. I can kind of tell by the letters left.it says either England or Holland. Front of tile is glazed, backs are ceramic. Age of tiles not known, but they are all in Excellent Condition, one has a very tiny nick.see last photo. 6 different designs, blue with light blue/grey backgrounds.
