RARE Antique Turkish/ Ottoman Kutahya/ Iznik Pottery. BEAUTIFUL Plate Measuring 12.5" in Diameter Up for auction is a rare and beautiful example of early Turkish pottery. A plate from Kutahya dating to the 1st or 2nd quarter of the 20th century. This comes to us form the estate of a family that emigrated out of Iran during the revolution of 1979; this was one of the items they brought out with them when they immigrated to the U.S. at that time. There is an old repair to the rim, as shown below, as well as a couple additional rim chips. However, these do not intrude beyond the rim nor do they interfere with the beautiful, hand-painted classical foliate design, rendered in turquoise, cobalt, green, yellow, and a cupric or ferric red- as can be seen in the photos of the plate, it displays beautifully. Antique Delft/ Dutch Tichelaar Makkum Blue and White Pottery Cup
Antique Dutch Delft/ Tichelaar Makkum Blue and White Pottery Cup Up for sale is a very old and pretty piece of Delft-style pottery. It is unmarked. But is eit h er old Delft or was produced by the Tichelaar factory in Makkum. The Netherlands. This factory is over 400 years old, and is the oldest continually operating company in the Netherlands. Ten generations of this family have run the Makkum factory. I suspect it is Makkum. Their process differs from Delft in that with their technique the painting is done on the glaze. So then the pictures"flow" somewhat into the glaze during the baking process. It is blue painting with cobalt oxide, and because of the fusion with the underlying glaze, produces an especially brilliant blue design. Each piece is entirely handpainted. This piece measures 2 7/8 inches high. And is about 4 inches ... morein diameter at its mouth. It has a flora l or lily pond scene on the inside bottom. The piece is in very good antique condition. I have noted a little rough edge on a very small spot on the rim. There are no cracks or crazing on the piece. I pack very carefully-see my feedback. This item will be shipped insured. I am offering on Buy It Now an antique tile from Mintons China Works. This very rare find from circa 1875 consists of a cobalt and white tile from the Mohr Smith Industrial Series from Stoke on Trent. England. The tile measures 6" X 6" and 1/2" thick. This tile depicts a Tanner and his helper at work a a hide with a brick wall background. He looks like a strong layman working at his trade. The scene is very detailed and there is old English writing saying The Tanner. I have noted that this rare tile is in very good condition with minimal wear as seen in the pictures. This tile is marked on the back and has slight cement residue from use. I am selling several other tiles from this same series in varying condition. Purchased by a collector in 1973. There is a hand written note on the rear of the tile which documents his acquisition in"Isphahan" Iran which is Isfahan, Iran and located south of Tehran. This spelling was a more common spelling for English speaking visitors during the 20th century. This is one of three heavy hand made and hand painted great Persian/ Middle Eastern/ Islamic tiles that I am listing in addition to a few other cool items from the same area of the world and estates from here in the Charleston area. The tile is probably late 19th century to early 20th century and is absolutely gorgeous! The colors are vibrant and the hand painted tile is detailed and expressive. Here is a quite old looking art pottery tile. It has a hand painted decorative pattern of a cobalt blue background with flowers and in the center is some kind of Middle Eastern style writing. The back is marked JERUSALEM and another mark. It measures about 5 3/4" There was a broken corner that has an old repair and several other smaller old chips around the edge. It has an wire hanger. Antique c1900 Arts & Crafts Carved Art Pottery Architectural Tile-Grueby Quality
Up for bids is this Antique c.1900 Arts& Crafts Carved Art Pottery Architectural Tile. I acquired this tile from a man who told me that this came off of a building in New Jersey that was getting torn down. The building was built right around the turn of the century in America. The tile is done in a 3 tone matte glaze of different shades of green that are very similar to sea foam green. The tile depicts 2 ancient Egyptian men which are shirtless and wearing traditional wrap around skirts. The Egyptians are using modern surveying tools which is interesting because they are the ones who invented the primitive versions of the tools they are using. The tile looks to be completely hand carved and incised instead of being molded with the decoration. The only marks on the piece is a number code from production on the side which is done in black ... moreink. The tile is backed with a blank tile to help support the weight of the tile. The overall weight of the tile is 22 pounds. I have not been able to identify the maker of this piece but I believe that it could possibly be Grueby because of the way that it was made and it reminds me of the scarabs that they made but at the same time there are features that remind me of Rookwood Faience tiles. This piece most likely would have been custom made for the building that it went in so this could possibly be the only one ever made. Any information would be greatly appreciated. This is a pretty large tile measuring 12 1/2" in length. 12 1/2" in height, and is 2 1/16" in depth. This piece is in great condition with just a 1 1/2" chip to the top edge and a few very minor and shallow ones to the bottom corners which are very hard to notice. Antique Della Robbia Earthenware Majolica Cherub Pottery. Extremely Rare!!
Antique Italian Della Robbia Ceramic Earthenware Majolica Pottery circa 1772. The year. ITALY" and logo markings are under glazed. There are thin hairlines from enamel coating on erased ceramic white boy figures. Also, bottom and along side of the top of the pottery shows numerous thin hairlines which I presume it is normal considering its age. Please see pictures. There are altogether six(6) different white figurines, or cherubs surrounded by fruits on blue background. I could not verify the logo on the pottery. 1772 could indicate the year it was made thus, making this pottery more than 240 years old. Or, It could be an early to mid 1900's SACA's(the Society Anonima Ceramiche Artische) in Sesto Florentino/Florence of Italy. Highly collectible rare Italian china. It measures 7.5" Height x 10.5" Width. Has been in my family for years and I truly loved and enjoyed this piece. This is a very nice antique hexagon pottery tile that measures about 10 6/8' across. The theme is a Bird of Paradise in a Paisley shape. It is in overall nice condition though it does have it's issues as pictured. This is an Antique Tile that was well used and loved. I believe it's origin is Islamic. Please correct me if I am wrong.
