From floor to top is approximately 21-1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18-1/4 inches. The trunk is in the same condition that we found it in. There is damage to the top of the trunk and in various other locations throughout the trunk- inside and out. Structurally the trunk is good. This would be a complete restoration project. Similar ones seem to be from the late 1800's but this is unique in the fact that it is covered in metal with wood trim. It has a flat top. Removable tray and wheels that I placed coasters over. The Chest measures approx. 22 inches long. 12 inches wide and about 11 inches tall to the peak on the hump top. The chest is very old constructed with dove tail corners. Somewhere all the road someone lined it with old wall paper. That paper is also old as there are areas where it is coming off and very worn. It would make a nice project for someone to re line the inside with different vintage paper. There are many old age cracks and repairs. There is a center narrow piece of wood at the very center of the top that has been replaced. There is some old termite damage near the bottom. Vintage Antique Trunk *You Grade**Great Resto Project!*
Up for grabs is an old vintage/antique trunk. I don't know too much about the trunk other than its been in storage in a basement for years. There are obvious signs of age and wear and tear. One of the metal fasteners on the side is cracked down the middle. The trunk itself and the cloth inside would need a good cleaning. I'm leaving the trunk exactly as is and I'm not attempting to clean it. I'll leave that for the professionals! The trunk measures 29.5' across 11' deep 19' wide. There are no markings that I can see to distinguish the brand. On one of the sides there is a faded tag that may give some clue to the history but I can't make out what it says. Large Antique or Vintage Trunk. In good condition. Made of wood painted black on outside and has paper lining on inside. Measure 36" wide. 24" tall, 22" front to back. Leather handles on sides are torn off and need replacements. Has metal corners, brackets, hinges, lock. Lock is an'Eagle Lock' with no key included, and unure if it will work. Has some kind of hard leather or hide like material around edges. Has an identification sticker on top which cant be fully read, but is shown in photos. Can only make out location, Newark NJ, and above that the last 3 letters of name'ard' Paper lining on inside in poor shape and metal bracket on inside, that holds top lid from swinging to far back, is broken and needs replacement. Vintage Antique National Vulcanized Fibre Co. Trunk For Sale (1890-1930s)
This is a wardrobe trunk that has been stored in our attic for more than 20 years. It was made by the National Vulcanized Fibre Co. We do not know exactly what year it was made but by doing some research we found that these trunks were made anywhere from 1890 to around the 1940s. The inside of the trunk is in excellent condition and the outside does show wear. But it is extremely old. The lock on the trunk no longer works because we didn't have a key and we had to pry the lock off. It didn't do any damage to the trunk itself and the lock still is intact, just not usable. The clasps on the outside both work and will secure the trunk closed. All the drawers on the inside are original and have no damage. The leather handle on the side is still intact and handled carrying the 75 pound trunk. The trunk has been closed the entire time in ... morethe attic and kept ALL mice and animals out. Vintage/antique steamer trunk, black/brass, flat top, monogram "WFK",
This trunk has a lot going for it. With its flat top. It makes a nice coffee table. Once it gets aired out, it would be extra storage space. It is quite attractive, in a"shabby chic" sort of way. It is quite old, although I don't know where it came from. My mother had it in her attic for as long as I can remember(which is a pretty long time) For the past 8 years, it has been in storage. WE just got it out, but since we have 2 others, we really don't need this one. It is black, with brass fittings/edges, so its quite attractive. Unfortunately we didn't have the key so had to"pick" the lock. It will shut properly, so you can carry it, but won't lock. The leather handles on each end are well worn, but we were able to use them-carefully! to move the thing. Inside, it has a decent lining, which you can see in ... morephoto 6. There are 2 trays, neither one of which is the original, as they don't fit on the edges properly. The first, shown in photos 7 and 8, has 2 compartments and fastens with a couple leather straps with snaps(one is broken) The edges of this drawer are rather crushed(see photos 11 and 12) There is another tray underneath, which has some sort of dried goop, that probably was gooey at one point, as it has been covered with tape. Here we have an old Trunk or Armoire meant for travel and has a label on it with a picture of an indian head that states: Genuine National Vulcanized Trunk Fibre. This trunk stands on end as you can see in the pictures and has 5 drawers on 1 side and a place to hang your slacks and what not on the left.The bars pull out and the top opens up on the left to make it easier to access.Please note that there is no key with this trunk.This measures when closed about 22 1/2" X 28" X 41" High and when opened up it measures about 45" wide.I have never seen a trunk like this before.This is for local pickup only and delivery could be arranged for a fee.
