THANK YOU. Here is a stunning and very desirable approximately 150 year old antique Japanese small Choba tansu. Or merchant's chest, dating from the Meiji Era around the mid to late 1800's, featuring a lock bar in the center and classical safe compartment at the bottom right. It boasts a natural light colour with a rich honey patina, beautifully shaped hand forged iron hardware, wood peg construction and 8 drawers of various sizes that provide versatile storage options including a full width drawer at the top. It is in excellent overall condition for it's age. But has a little lock issue: as there is no key and the top drawer lock is in the closed position with the drawer open it will not shut all the way. The safe compartment has a tendency to swing open by itself since there is no key to lock it. The lock issue does NOT affect the lock bar which slides in and out of place properly. Please read the description and examine the photos for more details on the condition. Locksmiths and larger antique dealers will own sets of multiple keys to fit a broad range of locks so you should be able to get the drawer unlocked easily enough so it slides into place. With a little patience you could also find an antique key that fits right here on ebay(I can recommend a seller who regularly stocks this type of item) Other small issues worth noting are a small repair in the bottom corner of the smallest drawer just above the safe compartment. The larger top drawer is stiff to open and close due to age and needs a tweak, and one corner plate in the back is bent out of shape. Given it's age there is some wearing off of the blackening of a few small spots of the iron, and a couple of small nails are missing. Antique tin & wood steamer trunk with insert & beautiful lid picture image
Beautiful old trunk with an organizer/insert. I believe this trunk is wood with tin or another metal that has a decorative pattern. On the inside lid is a beautiful image of a woman riding a horse. It measures about 26'x15'x14' As you can see from the pictures the handles are broken/no longer there. Also one hinge has came apart. But you are still able to open and close this. Please view pictures carefully for condition. Smells somewhat musty and old. No idea how old this is. Has an awesome partial sticker on the back for MCKeever's Transfer Co. says office royal street under the battle house. Mobile Ala.

I am unsure of the age. Maker and origin of this trunk. To the best of my knowledge and research, this is from the late 1800's. I am not an anique collector or dealer. Architectural drawings, surveyor papers, maps, blueprints, etc. All wood except for leather inlay on top and the metal drawer pulls(appears to have the original pulls on drawers) The drawers are dovetailed. The chest measures approximately 44 inches wide, 39 inches tall, and 32 1/2 inches deep. There are 6 drawers, each measuring approximately 41 1/2 inches wide, 5 inches tall, and 32 inches deep. I am not sure what wood was used to make this- the wood has what I would call a walnut or mahogany hue to it on the outside surfaces, which have been stained sometime in the past. I do not know when this was made- my guess would be sometime in the first half of the 20th century. It is made well. A very impressive and classy piece. I have had this trunk for about 15 years and it has provided great storage and looks beautiful in my living room. The iron and internal structure are in great condition and definitely original. This is a rare piece. I was not the purchaser. However, and therefore I do not have any information about its age and origin. It is definitely old and original though. Wood tray for antique steamer trunk. Tray measures 29 1/2" long. 15 5/8"wide, and 5 1/2" deep. It originally sat on wood side supports built into the trunk. Tray has small metal brackets on each end with a divider down the center. This came out of an old roll-top or camel-back trunk, but would fit a flat-top trunk as well. Antique Steamer Chest - Solid Wood- Very Heavy - Circa Early 1800's
Solid wood and metal. Very heavy antique Steamer truck w rollers. Trunk was found in the early 1900's in an old lake front cottage in upstate NY. It is estimated to be from the early to mid 1800's. Possibly older. Trunk is 100% original and has had nothing replaced. Handles are both missing but rest of trunk appears to be intact. Was offered $50 for the metal hinges and decor but I would rather sell it whole in hopes that the right person will renovate the trunk and allow it to live on. Selling this antique blanket chest. Appears to be handmade with typical style hand cut dovetailed corners. It has had the hinges replaced. Bottom has had tin reinforcement added. Top half of latch is missing. Cleats are present but no insert is included. Unique wood prop for the lid is attached. Brass on corners of lid. Steel wheels- I'm not sure if they are original. Has aged fairly well and is still a solid sturdy piece. Finish shows some wear. Boards have some cracking, etc. All items/conditions mentioned are shown in photos- please have a thorough look and ask any questions. Measures about 50" wide, 25" deep, 29 1/2" tall. For your consideration is this truly unique folk art decorated wood Carpenter Tool Chest. It has many carvings including 3 initials" MFA" on the raised top. The sides and front have carved diamond shapes and crude faux wood graining. There are several layers of old original paint giving this trunk its great patina. The chest measures 38 inches wide by 19 inches deep by 18 1/2 inches high. There are several metal parts in the lid which were used to hold tools. Large Antique Dome Top Camel Back Steamer Trunk Tin & Wood --- 34” x 26” x 19”
This antique dome top trunk is in marvelous condition for its age. There is no major damage to this trunk. Just normal wear and tear that you would expect in an item this old. This beauty has tons of character! The beautifully curved dome top, with 4 strips of curved 2-inch wood…is a sight to behold. Just on the top of this trunk are 14 ornately etched plates of metal hardware. All the tin on the chest is embosed with a raised floral pattern. It is truly beautiful. The lock comes without a key and I am not sure if it works. Both latches operate properly. Both leather side handles are missing. They can easily be replaced but I want to leave the trunk 100% original. The trunk is made from tin, metal, and wood. There is a total of seventeen 2” wood strips of varying lengths found on all sides of the trunk. The wood strips look like oak to me…they’re ... morein excellent condition. The trunk measures about 34" long across the bottom x 19” wide at the ends x 26” tall to the center of the dome, which is the highest point. The insert inside the trunk is fully functional and just needs a new coat of lacquer. The trunk was found with many others in the basement of an old building in lower Manhattan. The building manager said they were stored there years ago from unclaimed steamer trunks owned by immigrants who came over from Europe to Ellis Island. Please ask any questions. Antique? Vintage? Black forest? Large Carved Wood Trunk Chest
Not sure of age or origin of this truck. But looks too be pretty old. Close look at carvings and some imperfections can bee seen, so i believe hand carved. Looks too have been painted an off white and then a dark stain over it in the past. Quite a few nicks and scuffs reveal this history of paint and stain. Back has a split and a piece missing from a previous repair. Some screws on the hinges look too be old flat heads and some are newer phillips heads. Has oblong round ball legs. Lid does not completely close, has a quarter inch gap in front, maybe from warping from age. Inside has removable tray insert. Wood has a strong, but pleasant smell almost like cedar, but not sure what type of wood it is. Trunk measures 30 inches wide, 18 1/2 inches tall, 16 inches deep. Please study pics too see imperfections in the piece. Could use a good cleaning ... moreand some stain touch ups. Trunk is very heavy and large, and i will keep at local pick up. Antique Trunk Wood Covered In Leather 1800's Metal Bands Beautiful Piece
Beautiful antique trunk. I had someone online look at pictures and he estimated it was from about 1890. The research I have done myself leads me to believe it was made between 1870-1890. It is made of wood and covered in leather. I believe that it's pine but I could be wrong. There are metal bands across the top and around the edges. Please see pictures this truck is old and has plenty of bumps and bruises. The leather handle straps are missing and there are several patches of leather missing on the top and front. There is also a crack in the lid. It definitely needs some TLC but is still beautiful and has tons of rustic charm. There is paper lining the inside that is torn and has some spots. This would be a great trunk to restore exactly how you want or to leave as is and embrace its natural charm! It measures 28" long 17" ... moretall and 16" wide. Feel free to ask any questions.
