This auction is for a rare 1906 antique piano tuning tool. Marked: HALE TUNING HAMMER- PAT. OCT. 30, 1906- 2- This hard to find original piano tool has a rosewood handle and a nickel silver ferrule on the neck with an adjustable depth 8 point wrench socket on one end and a small hammer like tool on the other end of the head. This rare specialty tool is fully functional and in excellent condition. It does have a small minor hairline on the handle but all is tight and solid(see last pic) There are two set screw holes but one screw is actually the only one needed for the adjustable depth tightening. This old tool measures 10 1/2" long with a 1" diameter handle and it weighs 9 1/2 ozs. As always. No reserve, no buy it now and a very low starting price. No rules. Simply pay and I mail promptly. This vintage Hale piano tuning wrench is in lovely condition. The star points measure 3/8" from point to point and it is 10" from top to bottom of the handle. The handle is a beautiful smooth and rich grained wood. I once had a baby grand piano when I was young which was sold a number of years ago. This tuner must have come from that. I found out what it is from looking up Hale on the Internet. It probably dates from the early 1900s. But I am not sure.

Great old barrister. All oak in original finish. Good patina. Some alligatoring on one shelf inside. Measures 34 1/2 wide. 12" deep and 45 1/2" tall. Bottom shelf is tallest at 14 1/4" and is labelled Macey 912. Top one carries a Hale label and is 10 1/2" tall. Center one is the same as top but is unsigned. I am certain it too is Hale. Bookcase is banded with what appears to be copper and a hammered/leopard appearance. The two top sections were scissored at one time. Hooks are there. Metal scissors are not. Glass doors do move properly despite this. All glass appears to be original. There is some warping of the wood panels in the back. Just a sign of age and has no affect on appearance or performance. Note payable to and signed by S.W. Hale and signed by Silas B. Terry. Silas Burnham Terry(1807-1876) was trained by his famous clockmaking father, Eli Terry. Commencing his own business in 1831 at Terrysville, CT, young S. B. Terry manufactured weight-driven shelf and wall clocks and later spring-driven clocks under his own name until 1852, though not without financial difficulties, particularly in the latter 1840's. In June of 1852, Terry formed a partnership with a nephew and another relative, known as S. B. Terry& Company, no doubt because of his need for operating capital. This firm operated only about a year when a joint stock corporation ... morecalled the Terryville Manufacturing Company was formed, particularly to manufacture a torsion escapement clock for which Terry had received patents in 1852 and 1853. A new factory was built about a mile south at Pequabuck, Conn. and S. B. Terry became the manager of the operation until the autumn of 1854 when he sold out his interest and resumed business in his old shop. On January 1, 1859 Silas B. Terry was bankrupt and his clock shop and other assets were sold. He subsequently moved to Winsted, Conn. for about two years as manager of the clock movement department of W. L. Gilbert& Company. In a letter dated Sept. 23 from New York is: Yesterday we hanged an officer of the Provincials who came as a spy. Noting that this letter is dated"From New York Island. Sept. 23" and with the records verifying that Nathan Hale was hanged on Sept. ... more22 in New York, it is very obvious that this"officer of the Provincials" was Nathan Hale although not mentioned by name. Hale was, indeed, a spy for the Continental Army having volunteered for an intelligence-gathering mission in New York City before being captured by the British. He is probably best remembered for his purported last words before being hanged: I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country. It is my experience that any contemporary newspaper reference to the hanging of Nathan Hale is extremely rare. Additionally. One-third of the front page is: An Account of the Soil and Productions of Florida and Louisiana" which carries over to page 2& concludes in the next issue. Page 2 has content on the Revolutionary War including: That great part of the British troops had re-embarked& proceeded upon an expedition to teh Jerseys in order to drive the rebels from the advantageous post of Perth Amboy.that Lord Percy. I think it's Shell Ginger.This has the original matting and heavy duty rattan frame in nice vintage condition but this includes some waterspotting. I tried to include it in the pics. It is not really noticeable unless you are looking for it because it blends into the picture but it is there so please look at the pictures. It has the glass to help protect it so it's heavy. Executed by, Patty Stratton of a prominent Worcester County, Massachusetts family, for the sale of a parcel of land to Lement Bacon of Orange County, Vermont. Patty Stratton was born February 7, 1786 in Princeton, Massachusetts to Deacon Samuel Stratton—the Strattons have a long history in New England, especially during the Colonial period. Patty’s father Samuel, bought land in Princeton, Mass. He was a“cord wainer” by trade and was a very influential man in Princeton. In 1796, he sold 50 acres in Princeton to Phelps Davis. In 1808-09, he was a selectman. He died in 1838—a gravestone stands to the memory of Samuel and Martha Stratton ... moreat Rutland, Mass. My guess is they are by the noted 19th C. Hawaiian photographer James J. Williams but I'm not positive. All of the mounts measure 10 x 12 in. Images vary slightly. Too large for the scanner. EXTREEMLY RARE BRASS E.J. HALE LANTERN,PATENTED 1858 & 1860 MARITIME?NAUTICAL?
Up for your consideration is a great estate find.A very rare E.J. Hale lantern in fantastic condition.Great patina.It has a very unusal top section and wick adjustment,the slide lever on the bottom moves the burnner part the wick is in up& down to extinguish the flame& it works fine.This lantrn retains its original wick.The clear glass globe has no chips or cracks.It appears to have had some amateur solder repairs(see pic) which should be redone by a more experienced restorer.It looks to me that it might be a nautical lantern.Look at the pics closely& you be the judge.What you see is what you get.Height not counting the bail is 15"including the bail in the up position is 19.5"diameter at the base is 5.75"The pics show the makers& patent marks.Please ask any questions prior to bidding.Payment by PayPal to confirmed ... moreaddress only.Please wait for my invoice as postal insurance is required& is based on the final price and will be added to the invoice.

Made in Bavaria, Germany. This is such a lovely set, with a vine-type and maroon flower motif, the beautiful design are all around the cup and the saucer, with gold gilding on the handle and between two cobalt blue strips, the gilding on the handle seems to be rubbing off. Both pieces are signed right below the logo of Rosen Hale Bavaria. Additionally, the saucer has an extra marking" C. W. le Noir 1408, which I assume is the artist and the number corresponding to the set. The tea cup measures 2 1/4" all, 4" diameter around the rim and 2" base. This set is in excellent condition. ... moreNo chips, cracks, scratches, crazing or discoloration. This would make a wonderful addition to anyone's collection. It is truly a beautiful piece to own, display and/or use. It appears to have been used and/or handled based on the rubbing off of the handle, but it was very well taken care of, the colors are bright and unfaded, and the finish is nice and shiny.
