It is in the original old dark ... morereddish brown stain finish. This has four glass doors and plenty of space for books. The overall size is 78 inches wide, 18 inches deep and 60 inches high. The side compartments are 20 inches wide and two shelves are behind each door. The center section is 31 inches wide and has three shelves. The overall condition is good. There are a few minor pieces of molding missing, one keyhole cover is missing, and is in good overall condition for being 130 years old. It has panel sides, carved columns, multi-molded edge on the breakfront and carved pillars. It is an impressive bookcase with a few minor issues. Each of the drawers has a working lock and the key is included. There are 3 glass shelves on the upper center and 6 wood shelves in the upper left and right unit. Each of lower doors conceals one wood shelf. The upper unit is lighted but the current cord should be replaced. This item is in wonderful antique condition with only minor signs of age appropriate wear as pictured. The original antique bubble glass is free from breaks or damage which is very hard to come by. The backing to the upper unit looks to be lined in a off white colored wall paper and there is a red drip stain to this surface as seen in image#18 on the lower left side. Wear to the finish on one of the shelves can also be seen in image#18. Breakfront measures 92"h x 72"w x 16"d in total. The upper unit measures 56"h x 70"w x 12"d. The piece comes in two parts. The four door- four drawer base, and the glass fronted top. It's the perfect mix of aesthetic beauty and practical usefulness and will add a touch of style and elegance to any interiors scheme. The piece has the characteristic Sheraton style inlay to the front with the urns and garlands gracing the front of each door. There is also a thin strip bordering the doors. Drawers and glass fronted doors. If you imagine how this inlay is created you can see how much skilled craftmanship and man hours goes into the making of this fine piece of furniture. Each piece of marquetry inlay design has to be cut out of the softer fruitwood and then embedded into the harder mahogany of the main structure. There is a lot of storage space. Vintage Butler Mahogany Wood Style #700 Magazine Rack Holder
A few minor scuffs/scratches as to be expected due to age. Wood is split on the left side of the 3rd picture. But does not affect use. At the widest/tallest points it measures as follows: length 15 inches. Width 8 inches, height 15 inches. All my items come from a smoke-free home. I do however have two kitties and as hard as I try. VICTORIAN STYLE MAHOGANY WHATNOT SHELF
This is a wonderful Victorian style whatnot shelf. Purchased at an estate sale. It hangs, ideally, in a corner. It is mahogany and fairly elaborate, with the back being mirrored. I have tried to provide a side view, front view, and top& bottom views. It measures approximately 27 inches in height and approximately 14 1/2 inches in width at its widest point. The front seems to be in good condition. The back is not as well finished. Which leads me to believe it has always been hung in a corner. I have moved(downsized) and no longer have a spot for it. England sometime around the year 1960. This bookcase with glass doors has a unique and attractive look and several special features that would make it an eye-catching addition to your home or office! The wood ... moreused on this piece is a stunning selection of mahogany which really makes the bottom doors pop. It has been finished a lovely medium color that would go well with almost any other wood. The finish was well done and remains in great shape today. The sturdy bracket feet are also still strong. This bookcase with glass doors comes in two parts(top and bottom) for easier moving. Several unique features give this bookcase with glass doors a special look. Most obvious is the fret work on the glass doors which is done in arches and ovals. This type of pattern is hard to find because it is very hard and time consuming to make. Inside these doors are three adjustable glass shelves. Just below the top section is a small pull-out slide with a leather top. This can be used as an extra“table” space for guests to set drinks on during gatherings. The wooden doors at the bottom house one fixed shelf. Both doors lock with an included key. Another special feature is the gothic arched moulding around the cornice. Another time consuming thing to do. But very worth the effort.
