Replacement Oak Arts & Crafts Barrister Stacking Lawyer Bookcase Top Macey Globe
Original Oak Arts& Crafts/ Mission Barrister Stacking Lawyer Bookcase Top by Macey(like Globe. Ogee, etc. This is an original Macey bookcase top. This is from the quartersawn oak models(many of them had claw-footed bases and vertical veneer drawers) Very hard to find item. As you can see in photos. The label has worn off some, but you can still make out the Macey name. I am not sure what letter size this is, but the dimensions seem to correspond with size D. Overall measures approx: 34" long x 15" deep x 3 2/16" high Underside frame that fits onto the case measures approx: 34" long x 14" deep As shown in photos. This is in used condition and shows wear. The front profile looks very good for its age and should blend very well with well kept bookcases. The top veneer shows more wear than the front with discoloration, ... morenicks and scratches and some splits, but if this is an issue, you could rejuvenate it with stain and oil/ shellac/ polyurethane. If you want a uniform look, you could lightly sand the entire surface and then add stain, plus sealant. However, because this is the top of a bookshelf you will likely rest items on it to cover imperfections, or it will be so high up that no one will see it. The rest of the top looks to be in normal used condition for its age. Some nails have pushed out and may need to be gently hammered back in place(though I think I got all of them) Please examine close ups of all photos and ask all questions. Questions? Remember. L&JG Stickley#45 Magazine Stand This magazine stand is an accurate reproduction of the L&JG Stickley#45 Magazine Stand. I bench make these magazine stands from quarter sawn white oak in the Craftsman tradition. The back boards are solid 5/8" thick individual boards. The frame is assembled using time tested pegged mortise and tenon joinery. The dimensions are; 19" wide x 12" deep x 45" high. These are stained with aniline dye and sealed with satin Lacquer. This artisan initialed bookcase was made on August 25. 1997. The wood is solid quarter sawn oak. This 2 door bookcase is Stickley, measuring 58" in height, 41.5" in width and 13 inches in depth. The piece is in very good condition. Artisan initialed(see picture 11) There is on small paint mark, less than 1/16" on the inside of the right door(see picture 12) Center partition with eight fully adjustable shelves.
