Circa 1960 Yew wood Locks with key Excellent overall condition, Recently imported from England. This bookcase is made from yew wood. Yew is a native English wood that has a warm color and subtle grain that is speckled with“bird’s eyes” There are so many attractive features to go over on this bookcase and they all combine to form a really handsome piece of furniture! This bookcase was made in England sometime around the year 1960. Perhaps most noticeable and hardest to find in good quality furniture are the thirteen paned ... moreastragal glazed glass doors. Inside are two 9.25″ deep adjustable wooden shelves. These shelves adjust with the brass pin system and each shelf has two locations it can be adjusted to. You will also notice that each shelf has a row of cup hooks on the underside. Perfect for hanging tea cups. Below are two drawers that function perfectly and finally a large cabinet section that houses one wooden shelf. Both upper and lower cabinets lock and one key is included. The top and bottom sections separate for easy moving. Small details about this yew wood bookcase add up to reveal the care and skill that went into its construction. A dentil moulded cornice adorns the top. Much more attractive and difficult to make than a straight crown. A carved pediment gives the piece a little extra height. The two drawers were constructed with dovetailed drawer joints, making them as strong as possible. The pulls are brass swan neck pulls, a very good quality handle. Finally the bracket feet at the bottom are strong and sturdy. Overall this glass door bookcase is in excellent condition. There are tiny. Minor wear marks throughout, as you would expect from a piece of this age, but no major condition
