It's unmarked as to maker. I think it's likely circa early to mid-1900s. I believe it's in original condition. It has one interior. Multi-sectioned drawer on hinges(in need of minor repair-see below) It's constructed of walnut veneer with cedar lining, and secondary hardwood(s) The back is unfinished. Wonderful for storage and display or seating, it's both beautiful and superbly useful. CONDITION: Overall. I think it's in nice vintage condition. Solid and sturdy. Only the tiniest bit of veneer loss that I can see: a few tiny chips along the back edge. Minor nicks, imperfections normal to vintage furniture. It does have some flaws: 1) the top surface has superficial scratches and age-related splits in the veneer(but they seem shallow enough to me that I think just polyurethane(were the top refinished) and/or a walnut-tone pore filler would be enough to fill them for a flawless(or nearly so) top. 2) In the interior. Lid, left side, the wood affixing the screw supporting the pull-out shelf is stripped(please see photos; the drawer is just propped in place in the photo) so is in need of this repair. I'd probably suggest filling the oversized hole with wood scraps and glue to fill, then redrilling the hole(possibly a larger screw would work) this is left to the buyer. 3) The locks on these old chests pose a safety hazard to children(won't open from within; children can suffocate inside) and can't be sold with the lock in place. I've removed and discarded it. Leaving just the hardware(for aesthetics) so it simply opens and closes, and can be opened from inside. The buyer, if he/she desires a working lock, can probably purchase one through ebay or vi

This was my grandmother's prized chest. She had it displayed for as long as I can remember in her sewing room. It is a stunning piece with very vivid colors. Since she has passed away and it has been in my possession. I am constantly getting compliments on it. Through extensive research I have not been able to find another piece like this, but I was able to track down it's origin. It was manufactured by Pennant Corp. which is a historic Furniture Company out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. This company operated from 1955-1958. It is truly a one of a kind piece. We recently retired. Moved into a much smaller home, and find that we kept too much furniture. We no longer have a separate dining room and don't formally entertain any longer, so I'm selling my free-standing, solid cherry silver chest. This is an old steel box. It has 2 latches on all 4 sides. It's very heavy. I don't know if it's a flight case. Or a military foot locker, or a medical field box, or some form of ammo box. Hello and thank you for stopping by. Here is a great little steampunk treasure chest. It's really rustic and has a great steampunk feature. It is made with distressed wood and roughed up a bit to give it that old world look and feel. This is a great item to display on your coffee table to show off its nice rustic charm. It measures about 9 1/2 inches tall by about 10 inches wide and about 7 1/2 inches deep. I've added an old water valve handle and an authentic antique cabinet handle on top. The water valve handle just slides in and out of the closure giving the illusion of an actual lock box. It does not lock. It is only for decoration and can be used to store your lovelies in, but I wouldn't use it for valueables. Would be a great wedding card box. Too. Vintage Wood Storage Treasure Dome Chest Trunk with Brass Inlay and Trim Inside Tray Here is a beautiful wood storage chest trunk for your buying consideration. Recently picked it up at an auction. Not sure whom the maker of this great piece is. My guess is that this chest was made in Asia. But again just a guess. Not sure what the wood type is. It does have some great graining in it. What is really eye catching with this chest is the brass inlay and the designs they make on all sides of the chest with the exception of the bottom. Neat design to hold the lid in place. You open the chest and there is a wood plate on the back of the trunk that holds the lid up instead of just a chain or strap. There is a nice wooden tray with a carrying handle that sits snugly in the top of the chest. I see no major cracks. Splits, or repairs to the wood to ... morereport to you. The latch on the front of the chest and the hinges appear to be made of brass as well. For that little pirate in you or a loved one. This chest just has a great look to it. The box is wooden painted black with some soft material on the front around the knight that reminds me of a seat cushion. Inside the box is a red felt.
