Really beautiful chest of drawers and dresser with attached mirror. The pieces were designed and crafted by Johnson Carper Furniture Company of Roanaoke for their"Fashion Trend" mid century modern Danish inspired line. The set includes a 5 drawer Chest of Drawers and a 6 drawer Dresser with its original mirror and hardware. It is some times difficult to find a set with the original mirror intact. But this sets includes the mirror and it is in good condition. The drawers have very cool sculpted wooden side pulls that are beautifully crafted. They stand out from the dresser and chest of drawers like wood carvings. Very functional art. Each drawer is solid wood and of dovetailed construction. The top is laminate. Antique Federal Style Flame Mahogany Dresser w/ Mirror 2 Over 4 Chest of Drawers
Antique Federal style mirrored dresser or chest of drawers dating from the early 1900's. Stunning flame mahogany veneers grace the surfaces of this piece and are decorated with intricate contrasting inlay. An inlay medallion of a lamp has been placed atop the swivelling mirror. Two smaller locking drawers are aligned over four larged drawers. Providing ample storage space. All the drawers are made with high quality dovetail construction. The entire piece is raised off of the ground by short tapered square legs sitting on brass and wood casters. Overall. This piece is in very good condition. There are some drip marks along the top edge of the mirror(from glue or wood finish, see picture) but no cracks or other damage. The wood has some wear associated with age, including chips and minor breakage to the veneers or inlay. See pictures. There ... moreis also a chip out of the left side finial and the right top drawer is missing its lock. The wood is cracked around the lock hole on the inside of the drawer. Chest, Box, Military, Secretary, Portable, Teak, Brass fittings, 1830s Style
This appears to be a solid teak military style portable secretary box made for writing and keeping important papers. The four corners are brass bound and there are sturdy brass handles on the two sides like the old military style secretaries from the 1830s which this resembles. I do not believe this was a copy as it has been used as a desk. But rather a 20th century portable desk that actually served that purpose. Boxes like this from the 1830s are going for thousands of dollars now. The inside is pristine and flawless. There is a writing surface that lifts up to reveal a lift out tray. In the lid of the secretary are places to put the papers you are working on. The lock is solid and in perfect working condition and comes with a brass key. The surface is oiled Teak and the box is solid Teak throughout. There are lapped corners rather than ... moredovetails. It has been used and shows some signs of wear on the outside. There is a narrow crack on the top due to lack of humidity that has been repaired and an ink stain that the previous owner tried to removed from the front. See pictures.
