Offered here is a Nicely Painted& Decorated Country Style Pennsylvania Settee circa 1850. This piece features a nicely curved crestrail above a lower rail over a row of short turned spindles. The long plank seat(1 piece of wood) is raised on 8 turned& canted legs joined by box stretchers. The piece is painted green with beautiful birds and fruit artwork. I do not believe the paint to be original. But it is not a recent repaint. The settee measures 71 3/4" long x 23" deep x 34" tall. You are bidding on a beautiful vintage Victorian painted and transfer-decorated tin ash and tool bin. The back is stencil labeled"Patented Dec. 24th 1872 and manufactured by Sidney Shepard& Co. Buffalo. N.Y. Beneath the stencil is the inscription N.5 over A in red. The bin is with liner and two related and two unrelated fireplace tools. It measures 13"W x 23 1/2"H x 14"D. Colors are still very vibrant and the bin exhibits minor wear with the exception of few scratches which are visible in the photos. All original with no restoration. Excellent condition. This is an interesting collection of Collectibles from Mexico I beleive. The first three are ceramic. The first piece is 3 1/4" high, the secon bull has a hanger for on the wall and is4 1/4" long and the third piece is 3" high and about three" long. The Wood Painted Horse is 5 long and 5 1/4" high1 1/2" wide. The ducks base is a metal and has the turquoise or red dots on it. a few are missing and one of the red longer pieces are missing on the tail. ITEM DESCRIPTION: This auction is for an original 1820s to 1840s grain-painted and stencil-decorated footstool in excellent. Untouched condition. Although its origin is difficult to pinpoint. The stool certainly was made in the eastern United States, likely in New England. The“rolled” appearance of the two long sides was achieved by nailing strips of wood to the underside of a large central block prior to application of the painted decoration. This method of construction closely relates to that of the curved seat fronts on so-called Boston rockers. Which first gained popularity during this period. However. Due to the widespread use of grain painting and stencil decorating across the eastern seaboard in the second quarter of the nineteenth century, such structural and aesthetic similarities are insufficient to warrant a definitive attribution. ... moreNonetheless. Colors in Carnival Glass Book 4 1972 Sherman Hand Decorated Painted
This is Book 4 of Sherman Hand's"Colors in Carnival Glass" series; he published it himself in 1972. Some copies of this are spiral-bound. But this is a normal clothbound hardcover- there's nothing in the book to indicate which came first, but this version seems to be the scarcer of the two. If features many color photos of carnival glass, with descriptions. It's in good condition, with no dust jacket. The cover has spots of wear, mainly along the edges. There's tape residue on the spine where I removed the orange dot you can see in the photo. Interior marks consist of the previous owner's name in pen on the front free endpaper, an old price in pencil on the same page, and bookstore stamp on the interior front cover, and several words underlined in the Forward section. A large Victorian milk glass vase. In excellent condition with no damage or repair/ restoration. There is very slight& minor wear/ rubbing; unusual to see such a large example in such fine condition. It measures 16.25 inches in height( that is 41.5 cm's) is 7.5 inches at its widest point. The decoration is very nicely done. More photographs can be provided on request. PR. of 19TH CENTURY GREEN PAINTED TIN TOLE DECORATED ARGAND LAMP type SCONCES
This is a wonderful and scarce Pair of 19th Century Green Painted Tin Tole Decorated Argand Lamp type Sconces. They each measure approximately 9-3/4" tall. The construction of cut and rolled edges and form matches on both examples. The hand decoration shows similar characteristics. But with subtle differences, leading us to believe they were decorated by different people in the workshop. Both show a ge appropriate wear and losses to the paint decoration. Only one retains the removable fuel tank inside the housing. The other retains only the top visible portion of the fuel tank. There are minor dents. Wear and losses as shown in the photos. The only visible markings are hand written'No 294' on the back of each. We lean towards an American origin attribution. But we leave that final determination to the buyer. Decorated Hand Painted Cauldon of England Bird of Paradise Plate Charles R Lynde
This is a beautiful hand decorated plate by Cauldon of England. Later became Royal Cauldon. It was made for a shop owned by Charles R. Ly nde in Bo ston. That sold china and glassware. The border is a vivid s hade of green with tiny little red dots and decorated with flowers and birds. The center depicts a bird of paradise on a tree branch with 2 insects in the air. There is gilding on the inside rim as well as the exterior rim. Measures 7.75 inches in diameter. The plate has some scratches and I think that a few nicks on the outside rim have been re-painted with gold paint. I don't know for sure since I did not do it. But please look at the last photo for what I am descr ibing. There is crazing on the center portion of the plate. No cracks.
