Front and both sides are elaborated hand painted with floral motifs. T he lock is period to the time. As would be the nails and wooden pegs used. No key for the lock though. The trunk is solidly built with the hand forged metal plates reinforc ing sides and top. Inside is relatively clean- no major issues- wood work has stood test of times. A few scuff marks here and there. As would be normal for a trunk of this age. Also of interest is remnant of a label on one side that spells out'Milwaukee- Ontario Huron. It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. So you may want to grab it quick, before it is gone! Note: Not shipping overseas nor to Alaska on this one. Only to domestic United States. This trunk measures approximately 22" ... morelong X 14" wide X 15 1/2" high and it has two hinges in back that hold the lid securely to the base. There used to be sturdy leather handles on each side of the trunk but they are no longer intact, these can be purchased inexpensively on-line and they're fairly easy to replace. The corner protectors and hardware appear to be brass plated steel. There are two hasp type closures, one on each side of the lock and the lock needs to be bent just a little to close it securely. We tried the key and the locking mechanism seems to work properly but we didn't want to damage anything so it will arrive open with the key tucked in an envelope safely inside. The inside of the trunk is wood and there should be wood beneath the black material covering the outside(it is non-magnetic and we don't think it's metal) This little trunk is in very good condition and once it's restored it should be a beauty- perfect for your antique doll collection or as a gift for a very special grandchild. But stickers indicate Camp Osceola BSA which is a Boy Scout Camp. Based on the hinges and look of the box. It has to be circa 1950's or 1960's. Inside the box has circular outlines of what could been originally used ammunition or bombs at one time and was transformed for another purpose This is a camp box for camping at the H Roe Bartle Scout Reservation. In Osceola, Mo. in the early days the first camp was named Camp Osceola but has since expanded and changed, now three camps, Lone Star, Sawmill and Piercing Arrow. Steamship trunk. Not sure about age, but definitely 30+ years old. In exceptionally great condition. With some minor rust on the hardware. The interior. As you can see in the pictures, is also tip-top. Decorated with old luggage labels. Does not include a tray but it does not seem to be designed for one. The lock comes without a key. Danish modern style cedar chest by Lane in excellent condition. This mid century modern style blanket chest is completely cedar lined. Stands on sturdy walnut peg legs with brass caps, has a bottom pullout drawer and is totally original, excellent with just a couple small nicks. Outside measurements are 18 by 40 and stands 20 high. The top and outside finishes are walnut solids and veneers. Note the date stamp: for those who do not know. All vintage Lane products denote there date or manufacture with the serial number. backwards, in this case Aug 21, 1963. It stands on Danish style peg legs. Vintage Wood Storage Treasure Dome Chest Trunk with Brass Inlay and Trim Inside Tray Here is a beautiful wood storage chest trunk for your buying consideration. Recently picked it up at an auction. Not sure whom the maker of this great piece is. My guess is that this chest was made in Asia. But again just a guess. Not sure what the wood type is. It does have some great graining in it. What is really eye catching with this chest is the brass inlay and the designs they make on all sides of the chest with the exception of the bottom. Neat design to hold the lid in place. You open the chest and there is a wood plate on the back of the trunk that holds the lid up instead of just a chain or strap. There is a nice wooden tray with a carrying handle that sits snugly in the top of the chest. I see no major cracks. Splits, or repairs to the wood to ... morereport to you. The latch on the front of the chest and the hinges appear to be made of brass as well. For that little pirate in you or a loved one. This chest just has a great look to it.
