THANK YOU. Here is a stunning and very desirable approximately 150 year old antique Japanese small Choba tansu. Or merchant's chest, dating from the Meiji Era around the mid to late 1800's, featuring a lock bar in the center and classical safe compartment at the bottom right. It boasts a natural light colour with a rich honey patina, beautifully shaped hand forged iron hardware, wood peg construction and 8 drawers of various sizes that provide versatile storage options including a full width drawer at the top. It is in excellent overall condition for it's age. But has a little lock issue: as there is no key and the top drawer lock is in the closed position with the drawer open it will not shut all the way. The safe compartment has a tendency to swing open by itself since there is no key to lock it. The lock issue does NOT affect the lock bar which slides in and out of place properly. Please read the description and examine the photos for more details on the condition. Locksmiths and larger antique dealers will own sets of multiple keys to fit a broad range of locks so you should be able to get the drawer unlocked easily enough so it slides into place. With a little patience you could also find an antique key that fits right here on ebay(I can recommend a seller who regularly stocks this type of item) Other small issues worth noting are a small repair in the bottom corner of the smallest drawer just above the safe compartment. The larger top drawer is stiff to open and close due to age and needs a tweak, and one corner plate in the back is bent out of shape. Given it's age there is some wearing off of the blackening of a few small spots of the iron, and a couple of small nails are missing. MCM Walnut Veneer Lane Cedar Chest in Very Nice Original Condition 60's Danish
Lane Mid Century Modern Cedar Chest This is a lovely cedar chest finished(if I’m understanding the serial number) on 04-07-65. It shows a bit of wear from the years– the ordinary bumps. Nicks, and scratches even well-cared-for furniture shows- but remains in very nice vintage condition. Its veneers. Which are complete, show even coloration– apparently it’s been carefully stored out of the sun for all these years. The air-seal gasket is still intact on the lid. It has one spot(approx. 1/16" x ½" please see the closeup) of what looks like nail polish on the top. There are small scratches and indentations on the top. Of which I’ve tried to show the worst. When the light is coming across the top of this chest you can see proof that it is almost 50 years old. There is one quarter-sized spot on the top where the varnish is slightly ... moreopaque- you can just barely see it in one of the photos. Oddly enough I can't see it when looking at the top- only in the photos. The previous owners were smokers. Though I can no longer notice any smell you’ll know best whether this lovely cedar chest will work for you. The chest is 43 ¼" wide x 16 ¾" deep x 20" tall. In spite of it’s minor flaws it is a lovely chest and a pleasure to see. I’m not the original owner. The original locks are not included in this sale. New locks are available for free from Lane’s website. Feel free to ask for more pictures. Let me know what you want to see and I'll be glad to oblige. Antique Old Toy Box Chest Cowboy Vinyl Wood
Beautiful Antique toy box. It has a few places if you look the girl has a scratch on her face. But it isn't deep. The back edges both are coming up a bit. And it has a small spot on the very front left of it as well as something on the front right that looks like a possible ink pen spot, but I'm not sure. And, lastly from what I've seen the bottom right has two small spots on it where the vinyl has come off a bit. You should be able to see all of these spots by looking at my pictures. I want you to know what you are buying. But, even with these little imperfections this is a really nice piece. I won't let it go too cheap because I know it's really nice and you can't just go down the street and find another one easily. I was told this is from around the fifties time period and possibly even earlier. I looked all over ... morefor a date and couldn't find one or even a manufacture. So I can't give you any more info that this because I'm not an expert at antiques. But I do think I have an eye for some pretty pieces. For sale is my much loved Bunching Chest by Dorothy Draper for Heritage Henredon. This is the REAL THING. A mid-century antique by the original maker. Marked Heritage Henredon inside the drawer(See photos) A nicer restored original.I don't think you will find. Note: the back is finished in the same black lacquer as the originals are supposed to be. This chest was professionally restored by Antiques Moderne in Houston TX. The folks down there had it restored for me by a fantastic furniture workshop with exquisite high gloss lacquer. Extra thick clear coat on the top for durability as well as refinishing the gold accents. The original brasses are all in place and were polished. The condition of this piece will not disappoint you. I did not store things in the piece nor did it get any use. Only for looking! Not for touching. So it is as ... morefresh as when the restoration was completed…maybe 3 years ago now. Vintage Art Deco miniature cedar chest. Saleman's sample. This box measures 11 1/2 x 4 x 4" It has a red wooden handle and has carved stripes in the lid. In good condition, does have dark spots on the bottom of the interior, can be sanded out. Has some alligatoring starting on lid's finish.
