The leather handles are gone and there isn't any key. The sad part is that while I was taking photos of the tin bottom, the trunk somehow locked itself and I don't have a key. I did check with the local Antique Mall and they had some that were close, but they didn't work. I'm so thankful that I took photos of the inside first! So I am giving this a low starting price and hoping that someone will love it enough to find a key. It is 20 x 11 x 11 and all original. We accept PayPal. Front and both sides are elaborated hand painted with floral motifs. T he lock is period to the time. As would be the nails and wooden pegs used. No key for the lock though. The trunk is solidly built with the hand forged metal plates reinforc ing sides and top. Inside is relatively clean- no major issues- wood work has stood test of times. A few scuff marks here and there. As would be normal for a trunk of this age. Also of interest is remnant of a label on one side that spells out'Milwaukee- Ontario Huron. This trunk measures approximately 22" ... morelong X 14" wide X 15 1/2" high and it has two hinges in back that hold the lid securely to the base. There used to be sturdy leather handles on each side of the trunk but they are no longer intact, these can be purchased inexpensively on-line and they're fairly easy to replace. The corner protectors and hardware appear to be brass plated steel. There are two hasp type closures, one on each side of the lock and the lock needs to be bent just a little to close it securely. We tried the key and the locking mechanism seems to work properly but we didn't want to damage anything so it will arrive open with the key tucked in an envelope safely inside. The inside of the trunk is wood and there should be wood beneath the black material covering the outside(it is non-magnetic and we don't think it's metal) This little trunk is in very good condition and once it's restored it should be a beauty- perfect for your antique doll collection or as a gift for a very special grandchild. IL- ... moreFar west Chicago suburbs) UP FOR AUCTION: A gorgeous. Vintage, Art Deco, walnut waterfall-style cedar-lined blanket or hope chest. Elegant contrasting veneer inlay work on front center. It's unmarked as to maker. I think it's likely circa early to mid-1900s. I believe it's in original condition. It has one interior. Multi-sectioned drawer on hinges(in need of minor repair-see below) It's constructed of walnut veneer with cedar lining, and secondary hardwood(s) The back is unfinished. Wonderful for storage and display or seating, it's both beautiful and superbly useful. CONDITION: Overall. I think it's in nice vintage condition. Solid and sturdy. Only the tiniest bit of veneer loss that I can see: a few tiny chips along the back edge. Minor nicks, imperfections normal to vintage furniture. It does have some flaws: 1) the top surface has superficial scratches and age-related splits in the veneer(but they seem shallow enough to me that I think just polyurethane(were the top refinished) and/or a walnut-tone pore filler would be enough to fill them for a flawless(or nearly so) top. 2) In the interior. Lid, left side, the wood affixing the screw supporting the pull-out shelf is stripped(please see photos; the drawer is just propped in place in the photo) so is in need of this repair. I'd probably suggest filling the oversized hole with wood scraps and glue to fill, then redrilling the hole(possibly a larger screw would work) this is left to the buyer. 3) The locks on these old chests pose a safety hazard to children(won't open from within; children can suffocate inside) and can't be sold with the lock in place. I've removed and discarded it. Leaving just the hardware(for aesthetics) so it simply opens and closes, and can be opened from inside. The buyer, if he/she desires a working lock, can probably purchase one through ebay or vi

These items. A lot of 5 different antique flat top steamer trunks. These trunks belonged to a captain and his wife during the First World War. The 5 trunks range in size from the largest measuring 40' X 24' X 22' to the smallest measuring 31' X 17' X 13' These antique trunks all have most, if not all of their original keys, drawers, as we'll as all original hardware. These trunks will be sold as a whole, or individually if requested. I had a single frog bookend that was identical to these as far as size. Bottom material, handpainted, look, quality, etc that still had the OMC foil sticker on the back, that's why I think these are by Otagiri. Base measures 4.5" d x 4.75" w. They are approx. 6" tall. No chips or cracks- very cute! There is some light brown on the right front base of one.that is under the glaze. There is also a tiny speck of black on the top of one that is also under the glaze.

Vintage TEXAS TRUNKS San Antonio Antique STEAMER Trunk Chest GREAT CONDITION!!!
This is a really cool vintage trunk made by Texas Trunks out of San Antonio Texas. There is a sticker on the back that seems to put it on united van lines in 1925! To be honest this thing is in very nice shape for something around 90 years old. All straps and buckles are intact and in great shape. The key is missing. There are some scuffs and rubs from the one or two times it looks like it was used for legitimate travel. and on the back panel the laminate is kinda separated from the plywood. You can not see this in the photo.you can only feel it when you run your hand across the back.VERY MINOR. For auction is a MATCHED SET of VINTAGE TRAVEL TRUNKS(steamers) The original owner was in the US Navy and the trunks have USN stenciling on them. They are even numbered as 1 of 2 and 2 of 2. The trunks of a Washington DC address in the stencil paint. Several period stickers. The smaller trunk has the original lining and tray. The large wardrobe trunk is in beautiful condition on the inside and it still has some of the original wooden hangers. The drawers all function and there is NO MUSTY SMELL at all. Really great looking trunks that can be used for display/decorator pieces or as a matched coffee table set. The lock on the wardrobe is busted but could be easily replaced if you need a functional lock. Both trunks still have keys. These are for local pickup only in the Washington DC area. This one also has 149 New Bond St. London on the left side& 70 Champs Elysess on the right side of the main latch catch. It measures 29 3/4 L X 8 1/2" H X 18 1/8" W. There are also pieces of tape on the inside lid. There is some age related wear& scratches. It used as luggage on cruises& hotels& has some staining inside. It does have the tray. 3. The largest& newest of the three. It also has EPW handpainted on each end. The serial# is 907716. The handle has some wear. But the trunk itself has very little. The inside has little or no wear at all. Looks new. I checked at the LV store in Atlanta& found the same size bag listed for over $7.800.00. Not sure of the age maybe the 70's or 80's. Vintage Castaway by Springfoot Red Swim Trunks Siuit Lined Mens XXL XL 38-42
This is a fairly rare pair of Castaways by Springfoot swim trunks in a gorgeous bright red color. They are in very gently used condition and are around 14" from waist to leg cuff. A very tough to find size these do not have a tag but the waist band stretches from 19"21" which would be a waist size of 38. 40 and 42. Have no pockets on the back but have a double button close as well as a zipper. These have a thin lining that is also in nearly perfect condition. Elastic is as strong as new.
