Condition: It is in Very Good condition with overall tonal ageing. Basically as seen in the pics, blank on the reverse, printed on heavy paper with original hand coloring as issued. There is some very light handling around the edges and minor browning, nothing distracting, otherwise it is very clean in general with a nice antique quality that would frame up well, see the pics for more on condition. This is an 1888 map of the Territory of Alaska. Look closely at the enlarged scan. It shows supposed course of the Tananah River supplied by Indian reports. The map measures 10.5 X 14 inches. Rand McNally was known for printing maps using the latest surveys. We have shown the scans of the map and a close up to get a great idea of the beauty and workmanship that went into the detailed engraving along with the colors not found on modern maps. Would look fantastic framed under glass. Imagine this map displayed in a professionals waiting room. A restaurant, or retail establishment. Shadows and blurry edges are my scanner. Not the map. They are from his"Atlas Universel de Geographie" Folio(folded once as issued) Brussells, 1827. This was the world's first large atlas on a uniform scale. The Atlas Universel was one of the most remarkable atlases ever made. With over 400 maps on a uniform scale, and completed in only three years. There are tracks of Captain Joseph Billings(Route du Capitaine Bilings en 1790" Captain Sarychev, and Captain James Cook. Size overall of each map(including margins) is about 21 inches X 27 ½ inches. The actual"printed area" is about 19 high by 24 inches wide. There is slight foxing. Here and there, to the paper. Excuse me. I don't know what these are. They are both hand made with hand made beads also and smell old, some fur is missing off both of them. They measure approx. 2 1/2" long, beads are strung with what looks like some type of fiber, not sure when Juneau was founded though these have a smell which to me dates about 70 years or more, maybe a lot more by the looks of them. Carte des Isles Sandwich By: Captain James Cook Date: 1784(published) Dimensions: 11 x 18.3 inches(28 x 46.5 cm) This is one of the premier maps in Hawaiian cartography. This particular example was feature in"Troisieme Voyage de Cook. Ou Voyage a l'Ocean Pacifique. Many subsequent maps of the Hawaiian Islands were ultimately based off this example, which was prepared by Lieutenant Henry Roberts, though credited to James Cook. The map displays the routes and discoveries of the Resolution throughout the islands which are wonderfully engraved with attention to topographical detail. In the lower left corner of the map is an insert of La Baye de Karakakooa(present day Kealakekua Bay) The insert includes the anchorages of the two ships. Navigational hazards, palm trees, houses, and farm fields. This is where James Cook spent his last few ... moredays before being killed in a confrontation with the native Hawaiian people. Condition: Map is in B+ condition with reinforced folds on the reverse. The map was originally issued folded and has since been flattened. The left side has been remargined due to binding trim.

This is an original USAF Pilot Escape map from a U.S. Pilot whom was based out of Elmendorf Alaska used by the pilots in case shot down by the enemy at which time was the Russians trying to invade Alaska. It has the Aleution Island on one side and Pre-Statehood Alaska on the other. This map is before Alaska became a state. Shows all the ocean currents, has red hand stamp warning for pilots etc. on map, also advises for pilots whom find corrections to map to report info to Washington. Map was restricted and who knows how many changes have been made since. Nice map in excellent condition showing Pre-Statehood Alaska, Still retains its original fold as carried by the Pilot, No rips or tears and great color including the original red warning hand stamps etc. RARE MAP

Just one year after the discovery of gold in the Klondike and at the height of the Klondike Gold Rush. Issued by the General Land office under Binger Hermann, this map covers all of Alaska including the Aleutian Islands. It extends well into the Yukon District and south as far as Seattle. Parts of adjacent Siberia are also included. Gold regions are identified and highlighted in yellow- symbolizing gold. The map also identifies the monthly mail routes, topography, Isothermal Lines, other mineral deposits, types of vegetation, and routes to and from the interior. Gold was discovered near the mouth of the Klondike River in August of 1816 by a party ... moreof Tagish American Indians. The original Yukon gold discovery was in the Bonanza(Rabbit) Creek area, but it quickly became apparent that the gold regions were far vaster. Word traveled quickly and by July a stampede of prospectors from throughout the United States and Canada were headed to the Klondike. This was compounded by the fact that a series of bank failures in 1897 left the American economy in disarray and many of work. Over 40,000 prospectors and their families moved to Alaska. The Klondike Gold Rush drew such notables as future U.S. President William H. Taft, adventurer Frederick Russell Burnham, and author W. W. White. This map, which folds into a pocket format, was without a doubt the finest general map of Alaska available at the time and certainly accompanied many hopeful prospectors as they made their way north in search of mineral wealth. A large inset in the upper right corner better illustrates the Forty Mile Creek gold region and its many rich deposits.
