Printed in 18th century England. On quality hand-made rag paper which retains its inherent structural flexibility and soundness. Created to illustrate a voyage of exploration and discovery across the world to the Southern Ocean and Pacific region. In the 18th century. Engraved illustrations such as this one were the primary method by which a person could see images of far away and exotic places. Voyages of discovery were then popular topics of discussion and men such ... moreas Dampier and Capt. Cook were heroes of their time. These"popular" types of prints were often sold individually and as part of illustrated travel accounts. All of which are now scarce and valuable today.
