Printed in the late-19th century, on quality paper which retains its inherent structural flexibility and soundness. At this date. A large area is still labelled"Unexplored" Another spot shows"supposed course of Tananah River(from Indian Reports) In near VG or better condition[note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws] The printed area remains visually pleasing. A nice impression of an interesting map. Sheet measures c. 11 1/8" H x 14" W. Printed area measures c. 10" H x 12 3/4" W. 17084] Any defects along the sheet edges and in the margins may be seen in the photos. note: ... moreAll old sheets of printed paper possibly have short edge splits. Each sheet has existed for a very long time and has probably been handled repeatedly in the course of it's existence. It has a history unique to it as an object. The map was extracted from the Library Atlas of the World, published in 1894 by Rand McNally& Co. and which was in unsalvageable condition. The last three photos validate the origin of the map and the publishing date. This map has a page size of 10-1/4" wide x 13-3/4" long. And an image size of 9-1/4" wide x 12-1/4" long. Original Antique 1894 Alaska Yukon Map Rand McNally Standard Atlas Of The World
Offered is a single sheet of paper with an Alaska map on one side and Alaska related illustrations and text on the reverse side. This original map has been removed from an 1894 or perhaps later Rand McNally Standard Atlas Of The World. The atlas was found with heavy damage and missing portions at the front end of the book. It was not usable as is. However most of the map section was still intact and I have chosen to salvage the maps and offer them individually here. The entire front end of the atlas is missing except for the front cover. So it's difficult to pinpoint the exact date of publication. While I believe the atlas was published in 1894, it's possible it could have been published a year or two later. Grover Cleveland is listed as the serving President, his second term 1893- Rand McNally does not appear to have updated their ... moremaps on a regular basis. Many of the U.S. western maps are copyrighted 1888, others have no date or copyright printed on them. Also there is a mixture of maps by style, business maps, new family maps, townships maps etc. as if this atlas's contents were a composition of material from several sources.
