I am not positive of the boxes origin but I believe this is Folk Art. There ... moreare hand painted tulips on the edges and hand painted white flowers used in early American art. The measurements are 17 inches wide or long. 9 1/2 inches in height, and 7 1/2 inches deep. The chest/ Box weighs 11 pounds. It does have wear which is to be expected for it's age. The paint on the flowers have faded in some places, there are a few cracks on the wood, one is on the bottom(does not go all the way through, and one is on the inside of the lid. Wood shrinks with age and cracks are normal. There are a few places where wood has chipped off(one on the foot) the lock is missing and there is a heavy patina especially the places that would get the most use(by the handles. The front side has a darker patina(see 2nd picture) than the back side, it was probably sitting up against a wall and was covered on the top. The feet did have felt pads at one time. The rivets(or nails) are old type nails. It is made very well, it is very heavy and sturdy and it closes fine. It is a very beautiful piece whatever its origin is and the paint job is intricate and looks like it was very time consuming. Please email with any questions I will be glad to help. The base of the box measures 19 1/2" x 10 1/2" x 9 1/8" The body of the box exclusive of the base measures 18 1/2" x 9 1/2" x 6 5/8" The depth of the box on the inside is 8 1/2" The corner joints are curved finger joints. Often colloquially called dovetails(dovetails have a triangular profile whereas finger joints have parallel, horizontal edges) The box has a dark finish on the outside with a nice patina of age. The inside is unfinished. We do not know the type of wood. Perhaps you can tell from the appearance of the finished outside and the unfinished inside. The bottom of the box is made from a 1/8" thick sheet of plywood. On one photo of the inside you can see some wooden strips ... moreor shims. It is possible that the bottom was damaged and replaced and these were part of the repair. But we do not know for sure. The box has a lock but. As found, there is no key. There is what appears to be the remnant of a paper label on the back inside panel as seen. The front inside panel also had some sort of paper covering and there are remnants of this at several place. The chest was purchase in England. We assume it was probably made there. But we do not know for sure, nor do we know specifically what its age is. This is a great looking antique/ vintage chest would be a great piece of decor. And it could also serve a variety of utilitarian purposes as well! Condition The chest is overall in nice condition but there are several issues to be noted: The bottom panel may or may not have been replaced. With attendant inside support repair, as discussed above, and the box is offered as found/ as seen/ as described with respect to this issue. The box is offered as found with respect to the missing key for the lock There is a crack along the base panel on one end as seen. Marked with several arrows. ANTIQUE CARVED WOODEN CHINESE DRAGON OR LION SCULPTURE CHEST STAND SET LEGS
I believe these are to put a chest on. These are very old and look to be a Chinese Dragon but could be a lion. The top carved head and the whole top piece is one piece of wood. The legs were added, but show no screws or bolts, but are on very solid. The front leg is also carved, but the back leg is not which makes me think you would not see the back legs in whatever use these were for. They measure about 28" long and stand about 9 1/2" high. These have some wear here and there which is typical for age, nothing major, otherwise are in nice condition.These just came out of an attic and could use a good dusting. Primitive Wooden Trunk, Toolbox or Chest
Perfectly imperfect- it is full of primitive. Shabby character! I brought it home, cleaned(scrubbed) it, sanded it, painted it milk black, rubbed some of the edges and oiled it and then cleaned and painted the interior a fresh, crisp aqua. It has been tucked below the black cabinet(now seen resting on the floor) which had been supported by beefy candlesticks for legs. I have decided to part with this little beauty because of the new configuration(hey, I can only stack so high! It measures about 25 1/2" long(or wide) and is 15" front to back. It stands roughly 9"10" high(slightly higher if you include the handle on top) The hinges and hardware(including the chunky, utilitarian handle) are original to the piece(as far as I can tell- I have not altered them) It also came with the chain inside to keep the lid from falling ... morebackwards when opened(and I have left that in place as well) This provides WONDERFUL storage books(we kept photos, photo albums, dictionaries, etcetera tucked out-of-sight in it) blankets, toys, etcetera. It's not so horribly deep that things are buried at the bottom never to be seen again! I did adhere fuzzy, felt feet to the bottom to protect the hardwood floor.

Antique Blanket Chest (wooden hinge) hand crafted, hand forged nails? 6 plank
I am not an expert in antique furniture and I will try to describe the little blanket chest to the best of my ability. The measurements are 31" X 16" X 17" The exterior of the piece show wear with nicks around the base. The top was originally a solid plank but has been repaired in the past to keep the plank from cracking more. What is so unique about this piece is the wooden hinge system it has. Clearly this piece was handcrafted. On the inside you can see the panel has been tooled maybe by hand? The pins and nails used(with the exception of the newer repairs) appear to be hand forged. The bottom is removable in two pieces not sure if the two pieces were originally joined together at one time. The piece has been oiled and no other attempts have been made to restore this. I do not know the date of this item nor do I know the ... moretype of wood used in making this chest. If anyone knows more about this piece I would love to find out more information. Please see the photos and use the magnifying tool to get a closer look at this wonderful piece. The shipping weight before it is crated is about 25 pounds. Large Antique or Vintage Trunk. In good condition. Made of wood painted black on outside and has paper lining on inside. Measure 36" wide. 24" tall, 22" front to back. Leather handles on sides are torn off and need replacements. Has metal corners, brackets, hinges, lock. Lock is an'Eagle Lock' with no key included, and unure if it will work. Has some kind of hard leather or hide like material around edges. Has an identification sticker on top which cant be fully read, but is shown in photos. Can only make out location, Newark NJ, and above that the last 3 letters of name'ard' Paper lining on inside in poor shape and metal bracket on inside, that holds top lid from swinging to far back, is broken and needs replacement. Hi. Thanks for visiting. I'm selling my antique steamer trunk because of the fact that we're downsizing our living situation. Otherwise, I would certainly hang on to it- it is really a nice piece. I acquired this at a local antique store about ten years ago and have kept it on display ever since. It is made mostly of wood. With some metal rivets and leather straps. I'm not sure when it was constructed, but it is definitely of significant age. It measures approximately 34" long by 21" wide by 24" tall. The trunk is obviously old. So it isn't in perfect condition. One of the metal buckles has come loose from one of the leather straps, for instance.
