Nice patina on the finished outside, with a few scuffs and scratches from use. Wooden pegs surround small iron fasteners, keeping the bent wood handle on and allowing it to swing. Small dent in dead center of the underside indicates that a compass-like device was used to trace out and cut a perfect circle for the bottom. No lid. There are no marking of any kind to indicate maker or age. Inside of bucket is unfinished wood, but rather smooth, a bit dusty. Please study pictures. A MUST HAVE for any primitive decorated home! One side has narrow vertical ridges which make this tool more versatile in the kitchen. The reference book I use states that the fine grooves(in this one) is better than the coarse. They make nice grooved"balls" of butter. The opposite side is smooth and has a nice feel to the wood. Due to use. It has some tiny chips and scrapes of the edges of the wood. One side has a small piece that has broken off of the wood but it is smooth and not sharp. It has various other normal use marks. Very nice for your country kitchen. Franklin merged with American Encaustic Tile Co. AET) in the late 1930's. This listing is for a set of 4(from a series of 6) unique and beautiful tiles with a different bird on each. Here we have a Cardinal. Blue Bird, Golden finch, and a Chickadee.Each tile is expertly crafted. There is a combination of matte and glossy glazes separated by raised lines, making them stunning. The artwork is mesmerizing. These are in excellent condition. The tiles do not have any type of glue or adhesive on the back of them. Lot of 17 H & R Johnson Ceramic Tiles England Vintage Antique Pink Rose Gray
For sale are 17 vintage ceramic tiles made by H& R Johnson Ltd. in England. I don't have any history about these tiles- I bought them online about 15 years ago for a remodeling job. And never used them. I would describe the design as Art Nouveau, with a Moroccan accent. Two pink roses with green leaves are featured against an off-white background, surrounded by a Moroccan-style black"frame" The background is a true gray(not bluish) scalloped design. Measurements: 6 in x 6 in square each 5/16 in to 3/8 in thick(slight variations between tiles; most are close to 3/8 in thick) CONDITION: All tiles are in good condition. The fronts of the tiles have some crazing; see 4th photo. There are no chips on the fronts of the tiles and no chips on the front edges. There are some minor chips on the back edges, which don't detract ... morefrom the tiles' appearance. I see no grout on the backs of the tiles- just some darkening of the light-colored ceramic. There is some variation between tile colors, especially the gray background(see 2nd photo) There are some manufacturing defects(see discoloration in off-white areas in first photo) Please contact me if you would like more photos, or need more information about the tiles. For sale is a charming hand painted tile that has been beautifully framed with notations of La Coruna on the backing which is difficult to read due to its age. The frame measures about 5 3/4" square. The tile about 3" square. the picture depicts a Dutch girl and boy noting the wooden shoes on their feet. The backing on the frame is quite aged and brittle from its age. Including 78 4x4 Batchelder tiles 46 4x4 Batchelder bullnose tiles 28 2x2 Batchelder tiles 2 4x4 Batchelder picture tiles 2 4x4 Batchelder cobels and 1 very large 29x4 Batchelder tile. The fireplace measures about 65"x50" with a fire box opening of approximately 32"X28" The tiles around the opening are all bullnosed as are the tiles on each side of the fireplace running from the top of the fireplace to the floor. Antique Vintage American Eagle Tile
Antique vintage american eagle tile that's mounted on a very old frame. The tile is 6x6 and the frame is 9.5 by 9. The tile is glued down so I can't say what on the back of tile. But on the front is a spectacular eagle on a red white and blue shield. The frame is very old and looks great but not brand new out of box great this frame has bumps and bangs and even a knot hole and its not for show its all from age. 17th 18th century hand painted tiles set square biblical antique vintage RARE
I purchased these in San Francisco from a very reputable dealer I've worked with over the years. He told me these were 17 th century but I have no way of proving their age. It's abundantly clear they are very. Very old. The glaze used for painting the images is a really pretty eggplant with widely varying tones depending on how the artist wanted the shading to look. There appears to be Bible references written at the base of each tile. There is a fair amount of chipping at the top of the one marked MAT:27:24 although they each have their'issues' with respect to condition. NO CRACKS and could be set into grout easily. They measure 5 inches square. If there is anything I've missed please ask questions so I can get you the info you're looking for! Antique Vintage ceramic tile set of 4 Golden brown color
We purchased these tiles from a local antique dealer. He had purchased a piece of furniture that had tile inset into the back splash and these are four of the six tile.the other two were broken so he removed these and sold them to us. We were not able to find the ideal place to use the tile in our house and so now need to find them a"new home" These tiles measure 6 x 6 x 1/2 inches. Please look closely at the photos and read the condition issues. These are over 100years old. They have many fine lines of crazing. Some flea bites along their edges, and a strange blue color that is under the glaze. They were originally set in a line so that the roping"vine" flowed from one tile to the next. There is a raised"dot" pattern along the top border and an"egg and dart" pattern along the bottom border. The color ... moreis a warm, golden mottled brown in three tile and a darker brown in one. The backs of each tile have some of the ceramic material missing- this is where the antique dealer"pried" them loose. There is no name or marking on the backs so I do not know where these originated. Please be aware that these tile are 1/2 inch thick. Today's tiles are much thinner so if you want to incorporate these into a bath or kitchen wall. The tiler needs to plan accordingly. A lovely vintage/antique hand-painted ceramic round plaque that shows a woman and child in traditional Marken Holland clothing and surrounded by the unique iconic wooden structure homes. There are no markings except there is a raised number 77 on two places embedded in the ceramic mold on back. It is 6"in diameter. It reminds me of Delft.But the picture is more unique. This was made in Marken. This ceramic item must have been converted in later years to a hanging display. Though it could be put on a stand or incorporated into a decorating theme by once again re-purposing it. It is not like any other Dutch item I have seen; the people and costumes have such a unique appearance. The tinted antique photo is from 1900 that shows 2 young girls from Marken. Beautiful vintage fire place tiles. Four of the tiles is 6 inches long. I tile 3 inches long. The tiles are a molted cream with carmel, soft muted blue, greens. The tiles have a lovely crackle to them They are in good vintage condition, with some slight marks on the edges where they might have been mounted, there is also one with a little paint on it.
