Beautiful rare antique Merkel hand painted porcelain tile of a young boy in excellent condition in a lovely original gold frame with crown molding detail. Great detail and color. No chips. Crazing, cracks or losses of any kind. Label on back of tile reads KUMSTINSTITUT FUR PORZELLAN MALEREI MERKEL-HEINE WIESBADEN. There is an impressed mark 115 and hand written in pencil 1489. There is also a handwritten label which I am unable to read and have pictured. I believe it may be the artist. Labels at the edge attach the tile to the frame. These labels are for Foster Brothers, 4 Park Square, Boston. The gold cardboard backing is held in place with brass nails. It is secure but some of the nails are missing. What can I say? Other than the pictures do not do it justice. I believe this to be an ACTUAL EVENT that the artist experienced! It is signed AG. The scene is a United States Air Force WWII Fighter Plane pulling out of a dive. Over turbulent seas, with a calm sky in the back ground. NOTE the 5 beautiful horizontal red bands on the rear stabilizer, and the United States Air Force Insignia on the yellow wing tips! It was shortly used as a hot plate or something a long time ago. There is slight wear to the surface, some minor crazing, and some firing imperfections. But NO cracks or chips. This is a GORGEOUS piece of AMERICANA and HISTORY! They were hand molded and fired in a kiln which"permitted us to fire nearly forty six-inch tiles at one fell swoop. Under expanded production the hand-crafting of tiles continued. This is a Vintage Dutch Delft Polychrome Tile by Tichelaar Makkum Marked on the back. And appears to have the# 3 and a GH. Tile is in excellent shape, and has a hanging hook glued to the back. There is no crazing, cracks, chips, or breaks. Please see photos and ask any questions. There appears to be some corner wear that does not affect the top of the tile, but do not appear to be chips. Up for sale is this"beautiful" Warner Prins Custom Hand~Made Porcelain Tile Plaque The Porcelain Tile laque measures 6" squared ~ framed it is 9" squared The tile depicts a mountain country scene with a home and a couple standing nearby. With a church and other houses in the background. It is completed encased in a brass curved frame ~ the frame does have some scratches and pitting The tile is absolutely beautiful! There is a felt lining adhered to the back(to protect your wall when hung) When this tile was made between 1950-1970 you would request what type of tile you wanted and Warner Prins would design and make it for you. Antique Framed Hand Painted Dutch Tile Signed - Windmill - Made In Holland
This is a hand-painted framed Dutch tile. The entire piece is 4-7/8" square and the tile is approximately 3" square. It is signed with what looks like J. Gids. It features a traditional image of windmills and houses. The paint is cracked. There are three tiny round dots of paint that has flaked off- these appear as three white dots in the photos. The black lacquer frame has some very minimal signs of wear. But, overall is in good condition. It is covered in the back with black paper. There is a paper Made in Holland label on the back.
