But in an impressed circle on the back, there is a hound lying down with a crown above it and the word'English. This tile is not a reproduction and has been used on a fireplace or sink at some point. Amazing intact Fireplace Mantel/ Tile with a wood frame- black fabric backing. Size is 3 by 14 inches. Most likely this was part of a four or five piece scene that ran a top a fireplace or other border. Estimated 1850's Wedgewood. Note the details on what may be a funeral scene with the Cherubs carrying flower covered urn. The condition on this is excellent- meaning no nicks. Chips or flea bites- absolutely beautiful rare piece. Tile was removed from wood frame- no markings found- most likely this piece is a partial tile from the larger set/ scene.

Vintage English Tile fr om antique washstand This is a gorgeous antique tile circa the late 1800s. It is from a washstand I purchased in England a few decades ago. I think it is called transfer or transferware but I am not sure as to the style and method. The colors of the flowers. Either carnations or mums, are pink and green with a light blueish gray background. This is an antique terra cotta tile. Raised design, hand glazed. Measures 4" by 4" there are several chips on two sides. Was told this tile came off of an Antique English washstand. Offered for your consideration is a Antique English Pate-Sur-Pate Ceramic Plaque that dates to the late 19th century. It is in overall good condition with no cracks or repairs. There is a 1/2" chip to the lower right corner and 2 other corners with minor chips* It has a maker's monogram'UC' Circa 1880. There are light glaze scratches and scuffing throughout as well as other signs of expected light wear commensurate with age. small stains under glaze(see photo) other small edge chips only visible on reverse. Framed, depicting a seated female probably a muse of art.The tile is approx.8" square and the frame is approx. 17.5" square.The tile is framed with an inner gold tone small frame and the large outer frame is covered in a plum colored velvet.
