This is an absolutely beautiful Lane Cedar hope chest. May I first note that the original lock has been removed so that chest can open freely. The top of the chest does show wear. Most of it is from small abrasions and water marks. The back also has a scrape. Please see the photos and if you would like I can provide additional photos as well. I am not sure if the scuffs and marks on top can be taken off with lemon oil or if it will need to be refinished. I am leaving as is. This is a beautiful mid century maple two door cedar cabinet by Lane dated November. 1955. PLEASE NOTE: the pictures were taken in bright sunlight and came out a bit too light and orange in color.the cedar cabinet has a warm maple tone and is slightly darker than shown. The cabinet features shutter and paneled style doors with brass pulls that open to a solid cedar interior. The interior has two quality sliding beveled drawers with side handles. I have seen these sliding drawers on previous listings but they were just flat(no sides) and did not have the design and quality that these do. This would be great for sweaters. Lane Mid Century "TUXEDO" Cedar Chest
Lane Mid Century"TUXEDO" Cedar Chest Rare Lane Tuxedo cedar chest. This has the original finish& all original bow tie knobs. This piece came from a non-smoking home& has a great cedar smell when the lid is opened. There is no key for the lock. The chest is solid. There is a small piece of veneer missing from the back of the lid on the left side(photo 12) some discoloration on the same side rear leg(13) discoloration + loose veneer on the back left above that leg(14& 15) The felt in the bottom drawer has a couple of bare areas- can not tell what caused this. Light scuffing on the finish, but in pretty nice condition for being over 50 years old. This may be picked up in person at our office or it can be picked up by a freight carrier of your choice. Vintage Lane Alta Vista redwood cedar chest
The inside is immaculate-in brand new condition and still smells like new. It has an air-tight seal and has been pressure tested for aroma tightness. The outside has some scratches and wear and tear. But nothing that can't be easily fixed. It has been preserved in a basement, covered in blankets, for decades. It does not need a key, as it is unlocked and the button can be pushed to open.

Looks like a desk at first glance but the top hinges open to reveal a top compartment lined with Tennessee Red Cedar. Manufacture claims the top to be a"standard" size traditional chest. On each end there is a removable floor panel that give access to two smaller sections; approximately 25% the volume of the main compartment. Finally the bottom two drawers of the desk are actually functional and allows use as a desk. Incredible to still have the paperwork on the underside of the lid. This is a beautiful genuine antique Lane brand cedar lined hope chest which belonged to my grandmother. She was given this as a 9th grade graduation gift in 1952 from her mom and dad. I do not know the actual date of manufacturing only the year she was given it. According to the product information given below and the serial number. The date of manufacturing is 08/02/50. The color is a beautiful medium brown and made out of solid cedar wood and veneer on the outside and brown stain finish. This chest is very secure and sturdy.
