You are greeted with the fresh scent of natural cedar as a shelf rises up and away for easy access to the chest below. Based on the serial number. The manufacture date was April 21, 1954. I received the chest in the early-to-mid 70s and had it professionally refinished with a walnut stain in 1979. Some of the grain is slightly raised on the front(as seen in the picture) Several pictures were taken under different lighting conditions. There are a few very minor scratches. But overall it is in very good condition. IMPORTANT: As per the requirements of the Consumer Products Safety Commission. Wonderful vintage. Hand-made solid cedar dome top/ hump back storage chest or train trunk. This vintage chest is handmade of ¾” solid cedar and smells wonderful when you open it. It weighs in at around 12 lbs. unboxed. Has a pieced, domed lid with two handles that are screwed in on either side to make it easy to carry. It has two gold-tone hinges on the backside and measures 18” long x 14” wide x 12.5” high at the very top of the domed lid. Classic 1950's wooden bench chest. Covered in pink vinyl with goldish green spots. Interior of chest is cedar and still has that lovely cedar smell. Lid, which is held up by sliding iron latch, is padded and upholstered in matching pink vinyl, bound in gold around edges, with large button in center. Because of color and vinyl exterior, we believe chest was designed for use in bathroom and, in fact, was used there by elderly family member to hold her towels and other linens ever since we can remember. FOR PICKUP ONLY This is a Lane Cedar Lined Hope Chest from about the early 1970's. Measurements are approximately 17" deep x 42" long x 24" high with a dark Early American finish. My apologies for the glare in the photos. Apart from needing a good cleaning on the outside. It is intact with mostly minor wear and tear on the outside except for the top where a young child attempted to scratch a few words into the wood. I doubt it could be sanded off but the area could be filled with putty if the item was to be repainted or simply covered with a cushion if the original finish is desired. There is a push-button lock but no key, I HAVE REMOVED THE INTERIOR LATCH MECHANISM FOR SAFETY REASONS PER REQUIREMENT OF CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION. "Harmony House" Cedar Chest with Lock. Sears Roebuck. Vintage 1950s 1960s.
Travel back in time with this vintage"Harmony House" cedar chest. Harmony House" was a Sears Roebuck line of home furnishings from about 1940 to 1968. There were eighteen different color schemes with a color wheel to allow color matching. Some of the colors were pretty groovy. Like aquamarine and chartreuse. Measuring about 40" by 17-1/2" by 21-1/4" tall, this is a big cedar chest. The inside is all cedar, the outside has a light oak or pine veneer finish. The inside is in great condition. The fold out tray is lined with green felt and works well. It still has the cool"Harmony House" paper insert in the inside top. On the outside, there are a small chips off the edges of the veneer on the bottom that aren't particularly noticeable. The four legs do unscrew. It is a lovely vintage piece that I haven't ... moreable to precisely date. It is mid-20th century, 1950s or 1960s. It doesn't have the key for the lock. If you want a key, I can get one made for $20 at the local locksmith. Just let me know. The outside is made to look as if it is a two drawer dresser, but it is a locking chest. Hi there- I have a like new Cedar Chest in EXCELLENT condition for sale. It has absolutely NO dings or scratches and is in perfect condition. Very high quality cedar wood interior finish with floral pad on top. Designs on front are hand carved into the wood on the chest. Interior is in PERFECT condition. Measurements: 3ft 3in long on the inside. But total length is 3ft 5in in terms of how much space it will take up; 1ft 5in wide, 1ft 2in on the inside. Depth is 1 ft 3 inches, and the chest is 1ft 8 1/2 in tall. You must come pick the chest up. As I do not have a car suitable to transport it. Smells brand new and is from a non-smoking home. Vtg 60s Mid Century Modern Nice Walnut Wood Lane Cedar Blanket Storage Chest
This is a beautiful vintage Lane cedar chest from 1965. This chest isn't typical of Lane designs. It has a very sleek mid century modern look. The chest is walnut wood lined with cedar. It has a storage tray on the inside for smaller items. The chest measures 20-1/4" tall, 53-1/4" long and it is 17-5/8" deep. It is in excellent condition with no damage. On close inspection it shows a few scratches and there is a ding on the back right corner, nothing outstanding though. This chest comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. It is clean and ready to use. Per the Consumer Product Safety Commission(CPSC) Full size chests manufactured between 1912-1987 need to have their locks replaced or removed due to the fact that the original locks automatically latch shut when closed and children can become entrapped. I show a photo of ... morethe latch, this chest has had its latch removed. I will include the latch if the buyer would like to put it back on. The chest will be shipped by Greyhound Package Express and it will have to be picked up at the buyer's local Greyhound bus depot. The bottom pullout drawer is a full 5" deep. Chest was manufactured in Altavista.Virginia and dated May 13. 1964. There are two minor flaws.
