Vintage or Antique Hall Borchert Adjustable Cast Iron Paw Foot Dress Form
This is a truly great old dress form stand. It does not have the actual form. It is just the stand for it. I think some people repurpose these for lamps or bird cages and it would be very unique for either one. The old cast iron base has embossing on each leg. They are embossed with Hall Borchert Dress Form Co. New York, and Chicago. The paw feet sit on top of small casters for rolling the form around. There is an old cast iron pedal that is in working condition and is used to release the lock for raising and lowering the stand. The iron pole at it's lowest point is 40 inches from the floor to the tip. When raised to its maximum height it is 65.5 inches from the floor. The cast iron base of the stand measures about 18 inches from the tip of one foot to the tip of the opposite foot, just to give you an idea of the size. It is in normal ... moreused condition with rubs, and some surface rust that can be cleaned. I tried to get pictures of the casters to give you an idea of the condition too. L&M Acme dress form size A in excellent shape. The form is missing Acme tag which sits on the left breast area. The mannequin is in excellent shape outside fabric has only two a few very small areas of wear and the stand has original paint and is in great shape all interior adjustments work great and have all original working parts. The stand extends from 3 feet to 5 feet and body can be adjusted to dress specs. 1909 ANTIQUE ADJUSTABLE DISPLAY DRESS FORM METAL SKIRT CAGE BOTTOM Very cool old early 1900s French or Victorian looking adjustable dress form with metal cage. Its in well used condition with a lot of wear and some rust as seen in pics. The bottom cage has folding hinges that would allow it to expand out for hoop skirts. Stc. Construction is metal frame with wood panels covered in fabric. Adjustments are done via wingnuts and slides. Loosen the wingnut. Slide the panel to desired position and tighen wingnut. The collar is adjustable too via unscrewing/tightening the large silver metal finial on top. The finial is bent a little to one side, but still screws/unscrews just fine. Unknown manufacturer. Though it looks a lot like some of the Acme brand forms I am finding in researching this one. The only tag I found is a brass one on the bottom ... morehem reading: Patented Jan.15.1909" This dress form could be useable with some lubricating as the wingnuts are not frozen and do move. As do the slide adjustment tracks, but they are stiff and not all easy to move. I think it would be better used as a stunning display for vintage items. Scarves, pins, clothes, purses, etc- your imagination is the limit! No funky smells or mold detected. I measured the waist with all adjustments at smallest and it comes to approx 22" so this is a small size. Height is 4'5" 53" Note cage is missing the roller stand these usually have so it could certainly be adjusted taller if you add a roller bottom. As is it is a great height/size for use as a display piece or maybe set up on a short table. Although certainly very old. It seems to be very sturdy. Since it doesn't come apart. First I would like to tell you I do not know anything about this item. She seems to be in very nice condition. You can see from the pictures the fabric is not tore and is whole free. All of the adjustment wing nuts are there and she does open up some. I closed her up to take pictures. I did find the mount for the adjustment slide of the right breast(left side when looking at her) came loose from the body. I marked this in one picture with blue tape. That is the only flaw I know of. The stand comes in 2 pieces and will be shipped taken apart. I see other listings calling the base cast iron. I would call it heavy bent steel. Here is a great vintage/ antique Acme dress form or mannequin in the Victorian style with a metal cage around the bottom. Tagged as shown. The size can be adjusted by turning the knobs at the top and at the hip level underneath. Measuring about 68" tall as shown(lowering to about 48" at the minimum) and 14" across at the shoulder. Although I could not locate a brand on the form. It is identical to all others listed as such. It is marked as patented Dec 7 1908 which also coincides with other listings both here on e-bay and other web sites. Overall it is in very good shape given it is over 105 years old. The back has some stains from what appears to be markers on outer fabrics that bled though and the front has some fading as can be seen in the photos. There are a few torn or moth eaten areas. She has. What I believe to be, a cast iron base and wooden wheels. I believe I have supplied sufficient photos that are representative of the piece but should you require something more specific ... moreplease contact me. This has a great look to it as is for that shabby chic look or decorative purpose. The form is in relativly good condition. Is missing a few wing nuts used to adjust, you could get some at the hardware store for a few dollars, also three of the adjustments have pulled out of the frame on the bottom(see pics) they would need to be reattached if you wanted to use this for it's intended purpose. One is completly unattached and is loose, but will come with it. I have had it for a few years just as is with a scarf and neclace on it in my dressing room and it looked great just the way it is! It is covered with a rare brown colored fabric, a nice wood finial and a removable adjustable wood stand. It has a brass knob in the center of the stand where you can adjust the height a few more inches tall. It is in great antique condition for its age with some tears in the fabric as I show in the close up pictures and a small split wood from the base of the finial(see close up) The wood has a nice worn patina. Primitive Antique Store Display Mens Shirt Form Torso Form Dress Form Mannequin Who-hoo- went to my first auction of the summer- it was a farm estate auction literally right down the street from me. The former owners had lived there since he had gotten out of the military after enlisting during WWII. And her family had been on the property for generations before that. It’s all farm stuff- household, barn, outbuildings, property- many items from the 1800s and up. Lot of old iron, barn digs, primitives and pretties- I’m so excited to show them to you! Enjoy! Here is a fabulous store used. Mens shirt or torso form that I'm told dates back to the 1800s. The color of the piece is black- my camera tends to make all black look grey sometimes, and it is not. I don't know what to call the material- it reminds me of a paper mache type of make, ... morenot as heavy as an iron form, it weighs 5 1/2 lbs. From the peaks that I get at the bottom where the black material is worn, the base/frame of the torso appears to be a paper board- see photo 14 where you can see the material flayed or spread at the bottom ends where the black material is worn. The black material that it is covered with looks very much like leather to me- I can't tell for sure, so supersize and see what you think. It has dry crackled spots and small holes(at the back) and just has the look to me- but I can't tell for sure, from the underside, it has a burlap look under the back, too- so maybe it's that? The neck and the inside center(above the opern area of the front) are solid wood- you can see in photos 2, 22& 23. That bottom piece of wood is totally black, where the neck was left unpainted. From the hole in the bottom piece of wood, I'm assuming that the form used to have a stand, white I do not have, but know it sits totally securely on a table or flat surface. It was designed to display mens' attire, and has the build of a man. Measuring 28" tall to the highest point of the neck, it is 22 3/4" tall at the shoulder sides.

The torso is covered in black muslin that looks like it has some age to it(stains. The wood insert at the base of the body form is approximately 15" x 10 1/2" with wear and age to the materials as photographed. The fabric covered mannequin slides off of the metal shaft as shown. Antique VTG Singer Dress Form Mannequin Woman Womens 1947
I was thrilled when I found this interesting dress form tucked away in an old warehouse my husband and I were cleaning out. When I started looking at the intricacies of the stand alone I was blown away. Then as I carefully examined the body form I was more excited to find a date and name on a paper label inside. As you can see on the label. The form was molded from life for a Mrs. A.E. Sruba(as best as I can read it) in 1947, and I presume it was done in New York City. The lady's measurements are 35- 26- 38 making her pretty shapely. Her shape reminds me of Charlotte from Sex and the City, so I have nicknamed her Charlotte. The inside of the form feels a little like plaster but she is not that heavy. There is some kind of mesh cloth in the makeup of the form as you can see it in certain worn areas and places where she has been mistreated. ... moreFrom Hip to Neck measures 28 inches tall. The wooden stand is unique to anything I've seen on the internet in doing some research on Charlotte and her stand. She has a solid wooden base(forgive me that I have no clue what kind of wood) The stand has a slide in the middle that allows you to make her taller or shorter and all sorts of other types of adjustable parts as you can see in the pictures. For the pictures I did not extend the frame as tall as it could go because it would not fit into the picture properly. I also did not measure how tall she could actually stand. The wood is in great shape except for the little neck rest at the top. Which is removable and a little piece in the middle below the hip stays. Those pieces are made from several thin layers of wood which were glued together and over the years the glue has not held up. I put a small piece of tape around those pieces to keep them together rather than glue them because I always hear from antique dealers that if you"repair" the item it lowers the value. Up for Auction! Antique Large Doll Form Mannequin& Hand Made Metallic Mesh Dress Doll form/mannequin stands 18-1/2" tall with just the body being 10-1/2. Is 11-1/2" around the bust area, 8-1/4" around the waist, 10-1/2" around the hips. It is made of wood and paper/papier mache. The dress is hand made and fits the mannequin loosely. I purchased this from an upscale estate sale I attended recently. The sale was actually featured on the front page of the local newspaper as a part of history. Free local pick up available on t his elegant vintage dress form which features the"S curve" figure created by the straight front corsets of the early 20th century. She has a low bosom and flat abdomen with a severe curve from the small of the back to the bum. She stands on a metal base and pole with four(4) casters that still pivot in unison and roll smoothly. If slowly. I have not weighed her but she is surprisingly light to lift and carry. Dimensions: the form is fully adjustable using wing nuts and slides on the metal frame. She is 53" tall and her vital measurements at present are a healthy 32 7/8" bust. 27 1/2" waist, and 43" hips with a skirt circumference of 50" at thigh level. Her metal base features beautiful scrolling. Geometric vine like patterns. Her torso is covered with fine knit fabric that ... morereadily accepts pins. It does have the steam stains characteristic of dress forms that have been used for tailoring as well as some wear and tear on the shoulders. Minor rust is visible on the bottom of the base. But she is in excellent condition considering her age and hard working past. No labels or markings are present anywhere on the form or its frame other than the numbers 1 and 5 visible inside the upper torso if you peer between the panels. Lovely decorative item for home or retail setting. I've enjoyed it in my living room for a long time. Most of us can only hope to look this good at 100-plus years young! Very rare. Antique dress form, I'm not really sure exactly how old it is but I was told that it was made in the 1920's from the person I bought it from. I have never been able to verify this.
