Extremely well hand forged one– piece skull with gable-shaped motifs each between incised lines radiating downwards from a ribbed fig-shaped finial centred on a star shaped washer,the base encircled by horizontal riveted flange with diagonal pierced tubular plume-holder at the rear,the front widening into a bluntly– pointed peak pierced for an adjustable narrow curved bar-nasal with pierced ornamentally shaped upper finial and working on a screw with elaborate shaped head,neck- guard of three upward-lapping plates each with cusped upper edge,separate cheek– pieces of three plates each, the top one pierced with a rosette design over the ear, the main edges ... moreturned and finely roped, and with numerous dome– headed rivets and blackened throughout. Details: A steel head with tapering octagonal spike and faced square rear hammer mounted on its original wooden haft. With a hole for a suspension tassel. The steel head is corroded but professionally cleaned. The previous owner informed us that on the top of the wooden haft there were small remains of a cylindrical socket made of a tiny sheet of iron 10 cm(4 in) long, on which was mounted a steel head, however completely deteriorated by corrosion, when he removed the steel head to clean the rust the remains of the iron socket just fell into small pieces. Half of the 17th-century, Russian enameled bronze, priming flask for a flintlock or wheel lock gun. The shape and the form of decoration are very distinctive for the 17th century work of the Kremlin armory. Those types of bronze priming flasks were cast in two pieces then joined together on the edges. This particular piece was excavated in the 19th century. On the former territory of eastern Poland, in broken condition. The broken part has been removed and the good part was mounted in the display case. The object has been taken, by the owner, out of Poland in 1939 during WWII. He served in the Polish Army II Corps. After the war he settled in Canada. You are bidding on a very rare Rapier sword that I believe came from France. This sword is in awesome condition for its age and appears to be really well made. The blade measures approx 25 inches from tip to hilt. Hilt to the end of the handle measures about 5.5 inches. Giving the sword an over all length of just under 31 inches. The handle it self looks like it is braided with some kind of copper or bronze wire and is still in tact and in great condition. The real silver inlay in this sword consists of flowers, vines, people dancing, And other designs. This is very detailed and appears to be hammered in work done by a high end silversmith. I have had Rapier swords in the passed but I have never seen one with this much work, And never with this many silver inlays still in tact.
