Chips, scratches, scrapes, etc. I'm not sure if the case is brass or bronze. I do know its pretty heavy and has a wonderful established patina. Up for auction is a wonderful US Civil War Era Ansonia Rosewood 8 Day Weight Driven Shelf Clock. Circa 1869-77. The clock's dimensions are approximately; H- 33" W- 20" D- 5" The Case: The Rosewood case is in excellent physical condition. The case has been professionally reconditioned and looks much better in person. There are a few areas with some veneer loss. Please look at the door. Between 1 and 3, notice was some repair work that was performed to the veneer. I don't think this work is distracting. The Dial/Face: The painted zinc dial is in excellent condition. There are a few areas where there is some minor paint loss. This I consider minor and by no means distract from the beauty of the clock. The steel hands are original and in excellent physical condition. The Door: The Rosewood door is fully functional and closes ... moreproperly. As noted above. There is some repair work to the veneer between 1 and 3.brass bezel is clean and closes tightly to the properly. The glass and tablet are old. I can see the"wave" and"bubbles" in both. Both the glass and tablet have been repainted to some extent and look great. The Mechanism: The 8 day weight driven mechanism strikes the hour appropriately. The mechanism has been working fine for the last few days. The weight/bob is old. But I can not guarantee it to be original to the clock. The weights are original to the clock and are very heavy.
