Here we have a wonderful rare Victorian antique piano or organ stool in good used vintage condition. Circa 1900 or so. The stool is adjustable up and down for different heights and the seat swivels back and forth. The stool measures about 35 1/2 inches high by 18 inches deep. by 17 1/2 inches from the seat down. The seat measures 14 1/2 inches by 14 1/2 inches. Just gorgeous warm color. Beautiful ball and claw feet. Carving in the wood and a beautiful design all around the seat. Probably named after the Victorian gentlemen's sporting newspaper of the time, ceased publication in 1895. Original stringing, but 12 verticals are broken along the top of the frame. There are 4 rows of red gut trebling at the top of the frame and 5 rows near the wedge. The racket has maintained its glossy finish after all these years with remarkably few imperfections for its age. I am also not sure if its paper mache. I believe it is. This is in three pieces. The neck attaches to the body. However there is also another small round piece that attaches to the neck as well. There is paper with writing attached or glued to the bottom. There may be more information about the rabbit if I could take that paper off perhaps a manufactured name. There is wear and some damage to this figure. It is still in fair condition and holds together well howeveer there are splits and paint wear and general damage. This has lovely wood, and in nice condition. I am not a wood expert, but the top appears to be inlay, and I am not sure what type of wood the top is. I am not sure and the bottom all around is oak. This is a walnut color. The top has t several colors light and dark to the lovely design. The size is measuring at the bottom 12 1/2" long by 9" wide by 3 5/8 inches high. The inside is lined in coral color material and has 3 snap on snap off small sacks with string enclosures and there is a moveable shelf that can be taken in or out. It opens and closes nicely. There is some wood damage on one of the corners on the top. The crank moves the wringers and it appears to function fine. This is a nice solid oak piece of American history. It was made to last. This auction is for two antique or vintage sewing collectibles: A small round sewing box made of reeds. And a long, lace-line pincushion that is quite old. The two are described below: Woven Reed Sewing Basket. This small sewing basket is handmade from wood reeds. The sewing basket is in near perfect condition. With a label remnant on the inside bottom. The fitted lid has a jade ring on top connected by red cording. There are also two tassels on top that have some wear, and another two looped cords at the side. The lid fits snugly onto the bottom. There is a group of embroidery thread inside the sewing basket, from many different makers. The basket measures approximately 5-1/4 ... moreinches in diameter at the top, 4 inches in diameter at the bottom, and stands 1-3/4 inches tall. Antique Pincushion. This pincushion is quite old and is made from printed velvet. And filled. The print is floral, with peach flowers and green leaves. The bottom is made from velvet, as well. It has a wide cream lace bordering the outside, which has frayed on one side and there is a little hole in it on the front. This is a heavy pincushion, and you can see that it has been re-covered at one edge where the older pincushion shows through. The top velvet has pin holes(common for a pincushion) the bottom velvet has a stain at the center. Structurally, it is in great condition. The pincushion measures approximately 8-1/2 inches long, 2-1/4 inches wide and 3-1/4 inches deep(no measurements include the width of the 1-3/4 inch lace) I would hate for you to be disappointed with any aspect of your purchase. It also provides the latest prices listings that makes these books the most reliable source for dealers and collectors. The last book is the Complete Cookie Jar Book by Mike Schnieder. This book is hard cover. It is from 1991 and it has over 298 pages of listings for collectible cookie jars. Antique Medical Collectibles: Wrapped Tongue Depressors, Pertussin, Glass Jar
Unique! I don't know when anyone will ever find another item like this one in their travels. Neat old four-sided 5-3/4" tall glass jar. Marked K. M. Quinlan, Inc. on the bottom, full of old, old wood tonque depressors. The jar is in perfect condition with a recessed bottom. It was originally made to have a lid but was apparently pressed into service as a holder for these depressors. The depressors were made by a company founded by Max Kade in 1907 called Seeck& Kade, Inc. that manufactured and distributed cough medicines, most notably Pertussin, and other pharmaceuticals. The trademark was no longer in existence around 1931 and Chesebrough Ponds acquired the company in 1956. Sixteen of the 22 depressors in the bottle are wrapped, and seem to be smaller than the others(child size? and the wrappers read: Seeck& Kade, New York ... moreon one side and Pertusssin for Asthma Bronchitis Coughs on the other. Four large ones are unwrapped and there are two additional ones that are unwrapped that appear to be a little larger than those that are wrapped. Most of the wrappers are intact but a couple of them have small tears simply from age. The wrappers are fairly fragile. Discolored and dusty. There is no damage to the unwrapped depressors other than age discoloration. These were acquired from a physician's widow's estate and I would date them to at least the 1930's or 1940's. Wonderful piece of history for a collector of medical pieces or for display in a lab setting. I have no idea of their storage history so I cannot guarantee that they have not been exposed to smoking/fragrance/cooking odors or pets. This is an estate item and is being sold as is.
