An antique late 1800's through early 1900's glass clock adornment that is totally embossed with an actual face and hands of a real clock with a threaded stainless steel convex threaded lid with the original paper board liner.This measures 5" high.3 3/4" at the widest point across,the base or bottom is 2 1/2" by 2"and it is 2 1/8" deep.The convex threaded top or cap is 2 3/16"in circumference by 5/6" high.The cap is stainless steel that is threaded with the original liner which is concave.There are two seams to this clock.The face or front is totally embossed with all the numbers and hands of an actual clock.The reverse side of the clock has no embellishments. Antique Ice Axe (1800's)
This is an antique ice axe from the late 1800's. It is@ 44.5 inches in length. This long shaft was typical of that period. Willisch is a renowned maker of ice axes. In the 1920's they made the axes for the English Mt Everest Expeditions. Mallory and Irvine were using them when they disappeared. This axe pre-dates that period. This axe is typical of the long-shafted axes that were used by climbers like Whymper during the golden age of mountaineering in the Alps. It is in excellent condition and appears to have only been used for climbing on snow or ice and never on rock. Ice axes like this almost never show up for sale. For all the antique collectors out there. This costume jewelry came from a deceased friend and some of the pieces are believed to have come from the late 1800's up to the mid 1960's. The ladies involved did not come from wealthy families, just hard working families, so what was purchased was of good, lasting quality and paid for with hard work. (ULTRA RARE) Huge dog claw antique 1800's Religious / READ MY DESCRIPTION / Old
This claw. I think has a very unique story. During the renovation of a 125 years old building(next to the church and the cimetary) This big old tree was cut and the stump removed from the ground. The stump was standing there for 2 weeks(out of the ground.Upside down roots showing up) One day just before dinner. I was smoking a cigarette next to this stump. i was staring at the roots for a minute and i saw this huge claw, really deep in the roots(almost stucked) This claw was like part of the tree. It was deep twisted in the roots, right in the middle under the tree. i was like Huh? how did that get there? Took a few minutes to look around but i didnt find anything else. They used heavy machinery to dig the tree out of the ground and patch the hole(2 weeks earlier) After thinking about it. I realised that it could be possible that a poor man, ... more125 years ago(maybe more) buried his dog here and planted this tree on him? There was a statue of the virgin marie not to far. It was a huge tree. I do not know the exact age but it looked like 150 years old. I know that the building was build in 1889 on an old cimetary(cimetary is +150- 200 years old. no gravestones. Just bodys buried in the ground) The building im talking about was an old religious convent. But now its in renovation. The church, the convent, the cimetary. its all close to each other on the same yard. very creepy but fascinating place. This is a very unique found. A good friend of mine told me this could worth something on Ebay so. here i am! I will put this for auction see how it goes. Its really hard for me to put a price tag on this. i think its priceless. Large antique table snuff mull, cattle horn, pewter, Peter Durie c.1800
A large antique cattle horn table snuff mull or box dating from around 1800. With a pewter hinged lid to one end& a thistle design terminal to the tip. SCROLL DOWN THE LISTING FOR LARGER PICTURES. SIZE The mull is around 33cm long measured straight between the lid& the tip. Or around 41cm measured along the outer curve of the horn. The lid is approximately 6.5cm in diameter. WEIGHT The mull weighs just under 345g. MARKS The underside of the lid is marked' DURIE' And I believe this is the touchmark of Peter Durie of Aberdeen. Peter Durie worked in the late 1700's& early 1800's. And produced pieces including snuff mulls& boxes, many with a distinctly Scottish design. OVERALL CONDITION Good antique condition. CONDITION DETAILS There is a little minor scuffing& scratching to the surface of the horn. There is ... morealso a small split to the horn just below the lid mount(see photograph below) But there are no other visible splits or cracks. The pewter fittings at each end are a little worn. With a few minor knocks or dents. The lid has a small knock to one edge& is generally a little bent or mis-shaped, but it still opens& closes reasonably well, and the hinge is good. The mount for the lid is securely attached, with just a tiny amount of play between the mount& the horn. There is a ring missing from one of the hanging fittings. And the attached cord is definitely not original(it actually looks as though it may be an old shoelace! I have not cleaned the pewter so it still has its dark age patination. The I and S are thinner and slightly smaller. As none of them the exact same size this doesn't detract in any way from the set and is mentioned for accuracy one. My grandmother had a note in the box with these that said they were from 1800 or before. I'm sorry to not be able to get any closer. With something like this I'm sure you can see why it's remarkable to even be able to get this much information. It was my grandparents habit to label everything and I'm sure thankful now! These item's were in my grandparents estate. Which consist's of many sewing item's, all from France, which came to American by way of my great grandparents. Though of course this piece isn't a sewing related item, it was mixed into my grandmothers sewing pieces. Pictured is a lovely antique Folding Bone Nail Tool. Only age brings the warm rich glow found on this quality bone nail tool. Carved in the fancy Baroque style. Showing a floral head with double rows of what looks to be leaves beneath, going down into a circular medallion style grooved finger grip. This must have been the height ... moreof fashion in the late 1700's or early 1800's. The head has one black dot scrimshawed into the head of the flower. What the reason is. I can't even guess. There is no matching one, leaving one to wonder why the artist found it necessary to do it? The folding nail tool has three picks carved into the extended head for ease in unfolding it. The tool stays firmly in place when folded. Everything about this screams style, yet it is very practical at the same time. Please note that there is a crack on one side where the tiny nail go's in to hold the tool in place. please see photo's) This is a very old crack and does nothing to either detract in it's stability or beauty. This is common in a tool of this material. Measurements: 7.5cm x 1.4cm when folded. 10cm when extended. Items like this were commonly carved by fishermen or whalers as a way to make money once they landed in port or on their way to and from their fishing grounds. This natural material should be oiled every year and it had been over 30 years since it had been done. So I've recently oiled it for you. Antique, Wax Nativity in Glassed Display Case, Victorian 1800's Extremely Rare
This is an extremely rare. Antique, nativity scene that was purchased at an estate auction. The figurines' heads are made out of wax with wire armature bodies, the hands are some sort of ceramic or pottery material and clothed in what appears to be the original brocade, silk, and satin fabrics. We did not remove or touch any of the figurines because they appear to be very delicate, so we were unable to tell exactly what kind of fabric was used. The hair appears to be mohair. Of the eight figurines, only one appears to have any deterioration—the one of the farthest right side in the back row. His face appears to have melted slightly above the eyes, but again, we do not want to remove it from the box to get a better idea of the actual damage. We have added an enlarged photo of the figurine in an effort to show the damage as well as close-ups ... moreof the figurines and case. The whole scene is incased in a wooden box with glass sides and top. The front of the display case opens. The case appears to be in good shape. The yellow on the inside back piece is a reflection. There are no markings, name nor label on the box. A local appraiser valued the entire nativity scene and box at $500+ and estimated its age to be approximately 1870’s. Shipping Details: This will be difficult to ship and we are tempted to require local shipping only. But realize that this will limit its availability, so we will pack it as best we can to ensure that it arrives safely, however, we WILL NOT ACCEPT RETURNS NOR CLAIMS FOR DAMAGE. huge rare antique 1800's cast iron wood glass floor religious church tabernacle
This is a stunningly rare large antique cast iron. Wood, and glass floor sacred tabernacle from a church around the turn of the century. it is a very large floor tabernacle measuring 48 1/4 inches tap by 13 inches wide. It has an exquisite Victorian style and done with an abundance of intricate ornate detailing throughout. The legs are made from very thick cast iron and have a nice gold gilded finish which has acquired a lovely patina from age. it is made of two curved pieces of iron which are connected in the center by decorative ornate bolts. they are very ornate and have a gorgeous bird/figural scene on both sides. the tabernacle is made from cylindrical textured amber glass which rotates on a recess to open and close. it has a hand carved wooden top and bottom which have nice color and are connected to very ornate 6 sided brass shafts. ... morethey are very ornate. Done in high relief, and fastened with ornate sprouting flowers iron bolts on top. there is also a very ornate large solid iron finial in the center. the piece is in exquisite condition and is extremely rare. There is one small condition issue as shown in the last photo. the edge of the curved glass is chipped but can be hidden when closed as shown in the photo. it will be dismantled for shipping to avid any damage.
