Genuine Antique Chinese Cigarette Poster By Famous Cigarette Co. Circa 1930s
Genuine antique Chinese cigarette poster. Circa early 1900s. Guarantee genuine or your money back. The poster was produced by the Sun Tobacco Company. It depicts a farmer and his family by the duck pond. The man seems to be digging up some mushrooms. The are wearing old Chinese costumes dating back centuries. Two packets of cigarettes featured on the left hand side. The brands are Football and White Horse. On top of the poster is written: Presented by the Sun Tobacco Company. On the bottom is written: Please smoke White Horse and Football brands of cigarettes. The poster was printed by stone printing or lithograph. The quality is excellent as you can see clearly the wordings on the poster. There are some damage on the bottom of the poster. Damage also on the edges of the lower left and right corner. None of the damages has affected the main ... morepicture. The metal rods and the cloth loop are intact. These posters were given away as decorations for homes. They were printed every new year in the 1900s.They were not items for keepsake so many didn't survive. Measurement: 78 cm x 53 cm'Most of my collection is one of a kind. I bought the items because I liked it for myself. They were never intended to be resold. Each item has a story and when possible I hand carried in my luggage from all over the world to bring back to Australia. I am selling this for my aunt and uncle. They are from my grandfathers farm. they came from a two story log home that was approximately 80 feet long by 25 to 30 feet wide. the original chimney stone are included although i do not have pictures of them just yet. if you are interested in pictures of the stone please let me know your email address and i will try to get them to you asap. this home was built in the early 1800s and was dismantled by my uncle. he had plans to reassemble but just never got to it. they all have been stored inside until just recently. please ask any questions you have and i will do my best to get a correct answer to you. Up for auction is a wonderful antique French bronze/brass? Cartel Clock. Circa 1880-1900. The clock's dimensions are approximately; H- 20" W- 9" D- 4.5" The Case: The brass/bronze case is in excellent physical condition. There are no cracks. Chips, scratches, scrapes, etc. I'm not sure if the case is brass or bronze. I do know its pretty heavy and has a wonderful established patina. The Dial/Face: The porcelain dial/face is in excellent physical condition. I can not see and/or feel chips. Breaks, etc. The brass hands are absolutely stunning. On the dial/face it has 2 names painted on it, one I can not make out the name and the other name appears to be"Versaille" The Bezel: The brass/bronze bezel is clean and closes tightly to the case. The convex beveled crystal/glass is clean and scratch free from what I ... morecan see. The Mechanism: The French 8 day spring driven time and strike mechanism is in working order. The clock strikes the bell each 1/2 hour and hour appropriately The bell resonates for a nice long time. The movement is engraved with the following. Rare Antique Art Deco Westclox Pink Tiny Tim Clock w/ Box, Circa 1933
Up for auction is a wonderful antique Art Deco Period Westclox Clock with Box. Circa 1930. The clock's dimensions are approximately; H- 2" W- 2" D- 1" The Case: The steel case is in excellent physical condition. There are no breaks. Chips, etc. to either the case or base. The pink paint is nearly all intact within the base. There are a few small areas where there is a little bit of paint loss along the base/corners. I consider this insignificant but something you should know about. The bottom and back of the case has a patent date of Mar. 29, 1927. Thee gold colored paint on the bottom of the case is nearly perfect. The clock still retains the original felt pads. The screws are all original as well. The Dial/Face: The steel face is in excellent physical condition. I can not see any marks. Scratches, etc. on it. The blue ... moresteel hands are original and in excellent physical condition. The crystal/glass is original to the clock and is clean, scratch free from what I can see and feel. The Mechanism: The Westclox one day mechanism has been cleaned and oiled. The clock keeps pretty accurate time for one day. The mechanism has a date of 1933 engraved in it. The Box: The box is made for Tiny Tim clocks. I believe this box was made for the nickel plated version of the Tiny Tim clock. It states"nickel finish" on the box. The clock is being put for auction in"as found" condition. All sales are final. This is an Eclipse Power Mower-Utility Special Model 21. Series 37211. Circa 1930's. It has a Briggs and Stratton engine, Model 6 S. It was manufactured in Prophetstown, Illinois by the Eclipse Mower Company, which was started by Fred Adams in 1900 in a barn along the town's Main Street. The lawnmower belonged to my husband's grandfather. Who was born in 1895. My husband bought it from his grandfather's estate auction in 1985, after his death. It had sat in his grandfather's barn unused for over 40 yrs. before he bought it. He took it home and put gas in it and it started right up. He mowed the yard with it and then decided to put it away as he did not want to put any more wear and tear on it. It has sat unused ever since(about 29 yrs. He recently started it, but he couldn't keep it running. He thinks the carburetor ... moreneeds cleaning. The rubber wheels are worn smooth, but functional. It appears to be unique in that I cannot find one this make and model that has been sold or even listed on the internet. Also, my husband said he's never seen a power reel mower with a clutch engage built into the wooden handle. I emailed the Prophestown, Illinois Historical Society and they have some mowers that were not lost in last year's fire, but they didn't mention if they had this exact make and model in their museum. As mentioned. I have not been able to locate this make and model on the internet, so it could possibly be a rare find, especially in its good condition. Also included, is an ad from"American Home" magazine's May 1936 issue displaying an Eclipse Power Mower Utility Special Model 21 similar to this mower for sale by the company. The ad states that the price for mowers sold direct from the factory at that time started at $137.50, depending on the model. The mower with the accompanying ad is being sold as LOCAL PICKUP ONLY. Klepa Arts, Hollywood Antique, Gold rimmed "Tired" Bar Glasses Circa 1950's
No. Your eyes are not playing tricks on you. These glasses slant to play a good trick on someone who's had one too many! These glasses are from the early 1950's and were made to be crooked on purpose. They were made as a novelty item by Klepa Arts. Crooked and coined as the"Tired Glasses" they are only to be used on and after the third round! Each glass has a gold rim and is relatively heavy. The thick gold rim looks like it was hand applied. What a great conversation piece! The glasses measure approx. 2 3/4" in diameter and they stand 4 5/8" tall. Each glass appears to be somewhat unique in it's"bend" though they are all relatively uniform. Klepa Arts is from Hollywood and appears to have made a lot of spoons but just a few glass collections. Antique Larger Size Venetian Aventurine Perfume Scent Bottle circa 1860
Description On offer is this charming antique scent bottle which dates circa 1860 and is of Venetian origin. This scent although still a miniature is a larger size than those normally found at approx. 6 cms in length. The bottle has a flask shape with flattened base but does not stand unaided. It is made of black glass decorated with sparkling gold aventurine band around the neck and a gold aventurine band which wraps around the body. This band is sandwiched between two layers of twisted red and white applied glass ribbons and the black glass is further decorated with raised white cane decoration. This stunning little perfume bottle is missing the cork stopper. The bottle has no chips. Cracks or fractures although the glass does show the usual firing imperfections that are generally seen on this type of bottle. Under the circle it has a rhombus with a W on top. M on the left, Rd in the middle, 14 on the right and a 6 on the bottom. Up for your consideration is an antique steam pressure gauge. Made by the"American Steam Gauge Co. Boston" MA. 1851(incorporated in 1854)1902. Starting in 1902 the company changed their name to"The American Steam Gauge and Valve Manufacturing Company" which suggests this gauge was made between 1851-1902 since it sports the older name. The face also reads"J. S. Carter. Syracuse, N.Y. along with"Bourdon Steam Gauge" Number 182829. This steam gauge was used with a boiler that had a max pressure of 140 psi, was probably used with the boiler of any steam powered engine. What type remains unknown however; since it could have been used anywhere from a"Steam Traction Engine" to or perhaps a railroad application. Actual use is not known. Kutani- Kinrande Style Colorful with heavy Gold accents depicting three scenes Provenance: These plates are from my personal collection. My grandmother gave them to me nearly 50 years ago. They have never been used and rarely on display. They have been carefully stored away. They are hand painted. Heavily embellished in gold leaf and each has three scenes featuring typical Japanese landscape gardens, men and women. All plates have a hand written stamp on the back. Condition: One of the smaller plates has a small chip at the 1 o’clock position on the outer rim. The large plate has some gold rubbed off on the edge at the 8 o’clock position. The clock's dimensions are approximately; H- 76" W- 24" D- 8" The Case: The beautifully refinished oak case is in excellent physical condition. Please note. There are a few flaws with the case. 1. Top pediment has a crack on the back where it was glued to the top of the case. This is not noticeable from the front. There are a couple of stress cracks and one small piece(approx 1.5" in length) missing from the front part of the case. Please look at the photos of the dial. The clock looks great as a"floor" clock and if you wanted to take the top and bottom off, it would hang(big steel hanger encased in the back part of the clock) on the ceiling very nicely. The Dial/Face: The porcelain dial/face is in excellent physical condition. I can not see and/or feel chips. Breaks, etc. The steel hands are original and in excellent physical condition. The second hand is missing. I'm looking for a replacement and will include this hand if I find one before the auction is over. The Glass: The glass is really old and"wavy" and looks great. The Mechanism: The pinwheel escapement mechanism has been running flawless for me for the past few days. I'm not exactly sure how long this clock is suppose to run between windings? My guess would be anywhere from 7-10 days. The mechanism does not have the maker's name on it. The Pendulum: The pendulum is heavy and original to the mechanism. VERY FINE OLD ANTIQUE BRITANNIA SILVER MUSTARD POT - GEORGIAN STYLE - CIRCA 1900
HELLO AND WELCOME TO OLD.VINTAGE.RETRO. On offer is a wonderful solid silver antique mustard pot. It is a rare britannia silver pot and although Georgian in style it dates to around 1900. Very good clear hallmarks- see photos. It features an engraved coat of arms on the lid with the motto'VIRTUS IN ARDUIS' It comes with a tiny silver spoon which is hallmarked for Birmingham 1907- the spoon measures 6.25cm in length. The mustard pot and spoon are in excellent condition- I'm not sure if it should have a liner but sadly it didn't come with one. It stands approx 7.5cm tall. Showing that mothers back in the early 1800's taught their children much the same way as we still do today. I can just see a few children sitting around a teacher and struggling to learn their alphabet. This set of bone letters consist of the complete alphabet. With letters A through Z being in this set. They all measure approximately 2cm ... morehigh. There are 5 that have been dyed green and 2 that have been dyed red. They are absolutely perfect with the exception of a tiny piece of the tail on the Q has been broken off. You can still easily tell it's a Q though, so please check the photo's. The I and S are thinner and slightly smaller. As none of them the exact same size this doesn't detract in any way from the set and is mentioned for accuracy one. My grandmother had a note in the box with these that said they were from 1800 or before. I'm sorry to not be able to get any closer. With something like this I'm sure you can see why it's remarkable to even be able to get this much information. It was my grandparents habit to label everything and I'm sure thankful now! Pictured is a lovely antique Folding Bone Nail Tool. Only age brings the warm rich glow found on this quality bone nail tool. Carved in the fancy Baroque style. Showing a floral head with double rows of what looks to be leaves beneath, going down into a circular medallion style grooved finger grip. This must have been the height ... moreof fashion in the late 1700's or early 1800's. The head has one black dot scrimshawed into the head of the flower. What the reason is. I can't even guess. There is no matching one, leaving one to wonder why the artist found it necessary to do it? The folding nail tool has three picks carved into the extended head for ease in unfolding it. The tool stays firmly in place when folded. Everything about this screams style, yet it is very practical at the same time. Please note that there is a crack on one side where the tiny nail go's in to hold the tool in place. please see photo's) This is a very old crack and does nothing to either detract in it's stability or beauty. This is common in a tool of this material. Measurements: 7.5cm x 1.4cm when folded. 10cm when extended. Items like this were commonly carved by fishermen or whalers as a way to make money once they landed in port or on their way to and from their fishing grounds. This natural material should be oiled every year and it had been over 30 years since it had been done. So I've recently oiled it for you. THE HAT PIN MEASURES APPROX. 17 CMS IN LENGTH AND THE HAT PIN HEAD ALONE IS 2.5 CMS IN LENGTH WITH THE DANGLING PORTION HANGING APPROX. 5.5 CMS. THE HATPIN HEAD HAS A BLUE GLASS STONE IMITATING LAPIS LAZULI WITH APPLIED BRASS DECORATION AND AT THE TOP HAS A SMALL BRASS FILIGREE CAP WITH ATTACHED CHAIN FROM WHICH HANG TWO FURTHER BLUE GLASS BALLS. Genuine Antique Chinese Advertising Poster For Soaps Circa 1930s Guarantee
One of the rarest antique Chinese advertising poster. This is a genuine 1920s poster. It is not a reproduction. The poster features a Chinese lady sitting on a stone bench. She is wearing a traditional Chinese costume. In the upper centre of the poster is the name of the product. Cow Brand Soap. On two sides of the logo are advertising slogan: Cow Brand Fragrant Soap with moisturiser. The poster was distributed by Kyoshinsha Soap Company. It's name appears in Chinese on the bottom. The name Kyoshinsha also appears on the logo. Kyoshinsha is a company established in Osaka in 1909. They were selling Cow Brand toilet soaps in China throughout the 1920s and 30s. It was a famous brand in China in those days. The company is still operating in Japan till today. The poster is in excellent condition. There are some small tears on the edges only. ... moreA small hole on the lower left on the pink flowers. Small water stains on the back. The rest of the poster is in excellent condition. The two metal rods are intact. The poster was printed in lithograph or stone printing. The quality is excellent despite the poster's age. Small prints on the product is very clear. This kind of quality is not achievable in reproduction posters. These posters were given away as decorations for homes. They were printed every new year from the 1900s. Chinese people used these posters to decorate their walls i.e. the posters were stuck on the wall with some rice glue and replaced with a new one for the new year. They were not items for keepsake so many didn't survive. There are virtually no authentic Chinese advertising posters for sale on the internet. I have only come across reproductions.
