Edwardian Servants Bell Box, Room Service Indicator - Immaculate
This is a delightful Edwardian Room Service Indicator by Tamplin& Makovski Ltd a very historic company. Who were electrical contractors based Reigate Hight Street in the 1920s& 30's The indicator was removed from a large house prior to demolition for flats. It's in stunning condition, just a little paint to the edges where decorators have touched it and some slight yellowing to the indicator papers as might be expected after 90+ years! It's not been tested but I've no reason to believe that it shouldn't work. Collection would be preferred but it will be very securely packed for shipping.The glass would be easily replaced if broken. The witch in the centre is unidentified. The witch on the left is Mother Shipton and the witch on the right is the Witch of Wookey Hole in Somerset. Frame size 22.5 cm x 27.5 Mother Shipton Ursula Southeil(c. 1488–1561) also variously spelt as Ursula Southill. Ursula Soothtell or Ursula Sontheil[ better known as Mother Shipton, is said to have been an English soothsayer and prophetess. The first publication of her prophecies, which did not appear until 1641, eighty years after her reported death, contained a number of mainly regional predictions, but only two prophetic verses– neither of which foretold the End of the World, despite widespread assumptions to ... morethat effect. One of the most notable editions of her prophecies was published in 1684. It states that she was born in Knaresborough. Yorkshire, in a cave now known as Mother Shipton's Cave, that along with the Petrifying Well and associated parkland is operated as a visitor attraction. She was reputed to be hideously ugly. Antique 1879 Hand Operated Door Bell Chimes Complete
For auction is an antique brass or bronze door bell that is marked on the base with a patent date of 1879. There are no other markings on it except for the number 35 embossed on the inside of the bell. The bell comes with the handle for ringing it that would have been mounted on the outside of the door. Many of these bells operated with a crank that was turned. This one is a lever with a decorative handle that pivoted up and down to ring the bell. It functions very well. There is no damage to the bell or the brass lever mechanism. All that would be needed to put the bell in use would be four screws- two each for the bell and lever mechanism. Antique Brass Electric Mayland Door Alarm Bell
For auction is an antique nickel coated brass door or alarm bell manufactured by Mayland. The makers name is embossed on the back of the bell along with the number 14. It probably operated from electricity or a battery. I don' know whether it works but there is not a heck of a lot that could go bad with the mechanism. The small tab on the right front is stamped'High Power' The spring on the bottom is good and strong and I believe the piece is complete. The base is cast iron and there are holes for mounting it on a wall. It is approximately 12" long and 4 1/4" wide.

A rare antique brass door knocker in the unusual form of a medieval knight– in the style of a tomb brass. Or brass rubbing. I am unsure of the exact age of this piece. But would date it is early twentieth century, having never seen one in this style before. The brass is nicely cast and very well detailed. The knight is shown with his sword. Dagger, and a lion at his feet. This is quite a large and heavy piece. Measuring 7.4 inches(19.4 cm) in length. Condition is very good awith just some old residue. The knocker is not supplied with screw. But has three drilled holes in the backplate for attaching it to a door. Antique Figural Cast Bronze Door Knocker with a beautiful patina. European, OLD
Up for your consideration is this beautiful antique cast bronze door knocker depicting a figural face with pointed ears wearing a stylized crown with a bearded swinging knocker. The swinging knocker is held in place by a piece of iron threaded through holes on either side of the mouth and in the tips of the bearded knocker. This cast bronze piece has bubbling all over the surface which creates a beautiful texture with the aged patina of green and dark browns. There are a few spots where the patina has small scratches. Such as in a few spots on the swinging piece and in the curve where the ear meets the temple. There are three mounting hole each approximately 1/8" in diameter, one in each ear and one under where the swinging knocker strikes the base under the chin. Measures 5.75" tall. 4.5" wide from ear to ear, 1.75" deep ... morefrom backing to nose tip. Weighs 1lb 7oz. Lovely Iron Antique French Door Knocker Hand with Ball
Something French' I find all my Vintage Treasures from village Brocantes and Vide-Greniers in and around the Loire Valley. And also from my visits to the Paris flea markets. Lovely Iron Antique French Door Knocker Hand with Ball This is a lovely heavy traditional French door knocker- many of these can be seen adorning doors from a pretty cottages to a grand Chateau! It's cast iron and is an elegant hand of a Madame. There's a petite ring on her finger(although this is quite worn down) and she is holding a ball in her closed palm. There's a pretty sleeve edged with lace. And then the hinge which moves freely so the knocker can go up and down. The original nut and washer is with the knocker and also the square plate which fits flush with the door. It's robust and very heavy so should give a substantial'knock' on ... morethe door! It's very old and very time-worn. With the aged paint peeling off- it needs a good rub down- and so perfect for a renovation project! Approx. size: 21cm(8.25" long from the end of the fingers to the nut on the end of the bolt. The width across the fingers is 4cm(1.5" Most of my items are vintage or antique so due to their age they may have imperfections. Some may have lots! So, I try to give full, honest descriptions of any imperfections, and also show any imperfections in the photographs of the items. Antique Vintage Large Door Knocker Cast Iron Gothic / Craftsman Primitive
ANTIQUE CAST IRON DOOR KNOCKER This door knocker would make a great statement on the front door of a Gothic Mansion or an Arts and Crafts Bungalow. This is a great Gothic piece but it would also be very compatible with several other styles of architecture. It is very large and heavy- it measures about 6" in diameter and weighs 3 1/2 pounds. The back-plate is hammered iron with two mounting holes(screws NOT included) The loop hinge appears to be hand forged and the knocker itself could be cast or forged. There are hammer marks on all surfaces. We cleaned off minor surface rust and rubbed on a light coat of oil. This is in very good condition. There are no cracks. Just lovely. This has the original iron spike in the back, the brass medallion on the front, the original clapper, and the 2" tall brass bell at the end of the coil or spring metal piece. All original, this would have been inserted into the brick or wall with what I think would have been a chain pulling coming off protruding iron piece from the medallion.the chain would be pulled, the bell would ring. The medallion has a break half way around the center but it is intact. Looks like someone, not me, tried to clean the medallion and the bell which left a residue of a greenish tint which can be cleaned off. Nice piece with a lovely sound! Vintage Shop Keeper's Iron Door Bell Store
For sale. A vintage store door bell. This bell measures about 2¼” high and 3¼” across the opening. To the top of the mounting bracket it measures about 3¼” high. It weighs about 6 oz. This bell is made of iron and is in excellent condition. The silver paint is mostly in tact and appears to be original. This bell is screwed into the door frame and a string tied to the bracket arm as shown in picture#6 is then attached to the door. It looks like there was a washer near the screw thread that would keep the bell from sliding towards the door frame. A piece of string was wrapped around the shaft of the screw in order to keep the bell in place. I am including a hard rubber washer that fits tightly on the shaft as show in picture#11 that could be used instead of the string. Shipping is $3.50. Up for auction: from the 1930's. A rare and wonderful example of a No. 10 doorbell button in brown Bakelite. This particular doorbell is by William J. Murdock Company of Chelsea, Massachusetts. Murdock was best known for making radios in the 1920s, however, their push-button doorbell with the crescent moon(pictured here) is a charming piece from the broader line that was offered. This particular doorbell was salvaged from a home that was built in the early 1920's. Apparently the doorbell was added at a later date or simply purchased to replace an existing one on the home as this doorbells dates to the 1930's.
