The internal lock parts have been cleaned and checked to make sure they were in good condition and working properly. The exterior was painted in a high quality oil based gloss black paint that is very close to what the original finish would have looked like. Of course you can always repaint it in a color of your choice. This will come with a non-original working antique skeleton key. This has a keyed deadbolt and a levered deadbolt so you can lock the smaller deadbolt without using the key. This can be used as an entry or interior lock(although I would not rely on it for any real security) The lock is reversible for use on the right or left side of a door. This will come with cast iron rosette, cast iron key escutcheon, and the very nice swirl mineral door knobs pictured. No mounting screws come with it but you can easily pick them up at any home center or hardware store. Lock is a forged brass, horizontal rim latch in Baldwin's regular, lacquered, polished brass, finish. Lock has a passage latch which can be retracted by the knobs from either side of the door. It does not have a locking or privacy feature. This lock is new in the box. Just recently un-packaged for photographs, and has not been installed. Lock is complete and deemed to be in good working order. A solid brass, bit key-for decorative use on the interior case- since there is no locking mechanism, a box of all fasteners, and mounting template are included. This set was taken off a door that was original to my house which was built in 1891. It was painted over with several coats of white paint that I removed. But it took the original black enamel with it. Both pieces are in great shape but they need to be detailed to remove the remaining paint and surface rust prior to repainting. Or if you prefer, leave them natural. The lock is reversible so you don't have to worry about which way your door is hung. Antique rim lock 10" x 6 3/8" steel with knob night latch genuine antique rare
1 huge 10" Steel rim lock 10" wide x 6 3/8" high(approx) 4 3/8" from edge of lock to keyhole(approx) works in a similar way to a modern night latch it can be opened or deadlocked from outside or inside with a key and when not deadlocked it can be opened inside with the knob which slides sideways it don't turn as you may expect there is also a locking snib on the side of lock.It is not high security it could be used on a outside front or back door but I would think you would need to have a high security lock fitted as well for insurance reasons this auction is for the lock and one key the lock is genuine antique the key is modern but fits! there is no keep but that is easy to find it all works and the key will open it As you can see I have not cleaned it there is a little paint on the bottom edge of lock and the knob ... moreis a little green in places but it can all be removed. it could be polished to a very high burnish or I could have painted it and polished the brass knob or I could have polished the lock with black grate polish but some prefer to do this themselves or leave alone and enjoy the patina of age so I thought I would leave that to whoever wins it

Antique Branford Lock Works Cast Iron Rim Lock Marbled Door Knob Pat 1863
We were lucky enough to get many items from the attic of an old home in downtown Louisville. This is a really cool old door knob that someone told me is called a rim lock. We don't have a key and you will need to put a screw in one of the knobs to keep it from falling off since the screw is missing. The deadbolt is in the lock but it looks like the latch isn't there. The old lock is embossed with the marking BLW for Branford Lock Works and a patent date of 1863. I dont' know what the knob is made of but it looks like some kind of brown swirled marble and there is a small chip on one of the knobs that you should be able to see in the picture. The old cast iron should clean up nicely and make a great piece for an old home.

Except for one which has scuffs to its face and one side. All the centers sparkle beautifully, but there are some small areas of mercury loss around the outside edges. The shanks on two knobs are a little mishaped. All of these are minor issues and none will be noticeable when the knobs are in situ. Antique surface rim lock vintage door hardware lockset catch porcelain knob key
I have a nice old reusable cast iron rim lock for your consideration. Could use a cleaning and lube with the removal of a single standard slot set screw. Driverod gear spring feels good for reuse and works latch. Locking lever for drive gear latch engages and disengages.There is no key for dwadbolt slide although I think internal parts are intact. Box measuring 4 1/8 x 3 1/8 inches. Included are a pair of early porcelain doorknobs with cast brass necks. Brass keyhole cover, cast iron catch and 1/4 inch driverod with brass set screws. This lock is a forged brass, horizontal cylinder rim lock in Baldwin's regular, lacquered, polished brass, finish. The lock is complete and in good working order and will ship on it's oak display board. Lock has a passage latch which can be retracted by the knobs from either side of the door; and it has a dead bolt which can be operated from the outside by cylinder key(included) or from the inside by slide bolt or bit key(included) As configured, this lock is designed for a 1-3/4" thick door. Lock can be adapted for use on doors of different thicknesses-from 1-3/8" to 2-1/4" by purchasing new/longer spindle and new tailpiece for cylinder from Baldwin dealer) This ... morerim lock is specifically intended for a right hand door and is not reversible.
