2 VINTAGE CAST IRON AP SLIDING BARN DOOR LATCH ~ GATE GARAGE SHED FARM LOCK TOOL
Offered are two identical cast iron sliding door latches. These are marked AP. I've seen identical latches marked"AP. ALLIGATOR. Perhaps they made these for applications where reptile references were unwelcome. These are a spring action latch and were used on many kinds of sliding doors and gates. Additionally they could be padlocked, and could be opened from either side of a wall with a handy pull chain. I'm not sure of the exact age of these, but they are positively old. The latches are about 7 inches long and 3-3/4 inches across in the latched position. They each weigh a bit over a pound. They are cast iron with steel springs and pins. The flat chain is copper. I can't see any signs of use or wear. But they may have been gently used. There are no cracks, breaks or bends anywhere. The springs are strong and the latch action ... moreis firm and positive. There are remnants of old black paint. I'm not sure these had much of a paint coat when new. There is minor corrosion, mainly on the backs. They are clean and perfectly operational. Nice pair of old Branford lock works rim locks for your consideration. One ornately patterned and are both cast iron. One marked Branford and the other marked BLW. The ornate patterned locks drive gear operates the latch mechanism and the secondary manual deadbolt slide operates with slide lever. I do know if the deadbolt slide works because there is no key. The matching patterned catch has a small corner cracked off however could be repaired nicely since it is not in the line of the design. Although could be used as is I suppose. I think the other lock with matching catch is missing some flat springs since the latch locking lever will not stay engaged. I as well do not know the condition of the deadbolt slide since this also has no key. Slides all look like they might be brass. Housings are cast iron. nice old couple of rim locks for repair ... moreor hard to find parts. Questions welcome other wise what you see is what you get. Antique Vintage Clear Cut Glass Cabinet Knobs Set of 8 with latch mechanism.
These are not your run-of-the-mill average cabinet knobs. There are 7 compete sets and 1 incomplete set. 1 set is not complete because it is missing the spring that goes inside the tubular mechanism. These are all vintage/antique knobs. All knobs are matching and have 6 sides. The top of the glass knobs have been finely made and cut/polished to a shinny flat surface. Deep down inside the center of the glass knob is a silvery colored back plate. I don't know what it is actually made of. The glass knob is set in brass and has an oval brass backplate. It comes with the tubular latch mechanism. I took a picture of the parts of the tubular mechanism to show what the parts entail. The glass knob measures 7/8" wide. It is 7/8" deep from the top of the glass knob to(and including the brass back plate) The glass knobs are all in very ... moregood condition with no cracks. Chips or major scratches. The glass knobs are shinny and show very little wear except for the tarnished brass parts and the silvery plate at the bottom of the glass knob. See pictures. Vintage 40's Primitive Foil Paper Covered Case Antique Box w Metal Latch Hinges
This is Vintage Foil Paper Covered Box. This empty box is from the late 1940's. I think this is a paper covered box with a deep golden bronze lid and with a black bottom. It held a pair of serving tableware pieces. The front has an interesting latch and closure made of metal as well as two hinges on the back side. The inside has a cloth hinge and the original soft tissue paper found inside. The box measures 11 3/4 inches long. 4 inches wide. The inside is 1 inch deep and the lid adds another 1/2 inch to the inside height. It is in good condition. The box is solid. But the covering does show some wear along the edges and would be normal for a cardboard paper covered item over 40 years old. This is the complete set recently removed from an old ice box refrigerator… it includes the latch. Handle and all three door hinges! As a bonus. Even the 24 screws are included! The latch and handle hinges are about 2½” tall x 1” wide, and the entire handle is 4½” long. The back of the door hinges are about 3” tall x 1¼” wide and the front piece is about 3” wide x 1½” tall. The set seems to be for a ½” to ⅝” door thickness. The handle is the only piece marked: on its back it reads“ Pat Jul 21” There was no name on the ice box or hardware. So I don’t know who made the set. As shown in the photos, the pieces are all in very good condition for their age. Could be used as a passage until a key is found or have one made. Box measures 5 x 3 3/4 inches. The larger one on the right in the first picture is a latch type handle. The latch is missing a screw as shown.The tab that protrudes through the back is about 1 3/8" long X 5/16" tall.
