The item for auction is an Antique Taylor Company circa 1860’s crank type Door Bell. The item was meticulously and painstakingly cleaned. Restored and refinished as to attempt to bring out its original appearance and make it fully functional again as well as to preserve it for future use. The patent information is clearly visible on the face of the bell and shows a patent date of Oct 23 1860.The bell itself was originally brass plated and shows ware with minor scratches which would be expected for an item of its age and it resonates with a great tone. The bell is 3 ½” in diameter and the housing and crack will accommodate up to 2 ½” of door thickness. Also included in the lot are mounting screws for both interior and exterior mounting. Vintage Unused Brass Door Bell, Buzzer, or Push Button
Here is another old door bell button that has never been installed on a house. This one has a slot for a label. We got a group of these mid 20th century door bell or buzzer buttons and it is fun to see all of the different designs. It is 2 3/4 inches long and 1 7/8 inches wide. It holds a label that is about 1 1/4 inches by 1/2 inch. It has some small dark spots in the finish caused from being exposed to humidity over the years. The metal cover is not magnetic. So is brass. The button is an early plastic, possibly bakelite. This vintage button has a streamlined shape. A simple design, and basic colors that will go with many decorating styles.

In detail the Set consists of: New Old Stock(probably) Bakelite Bell Push- 45mm(1 3/4" in diameter. This Bell Push has no signs of use. And appears to be new. It is brown and has a lovely white push button. GEC Mains Bakelite Bell Transformer- 100mm(4" by 75mm(3" and 45mm(1 1/2" heigh. 200 to 250V AC input. 3, 5 and 8 V output. There was ... moreslight damage to one side by the earth entry point, I have repaired this with 2 part epoxy filler sanded and colour-matched, the repair can be seen it the appropriate photo, when fitted in position this repair will hardly show if at all. GEC make one of the best transformes in my view and they are very heavy a sign of good quality. GEC Bakelite and Chrome Door Bell- 160mm(6" by 75mm(3" max by 45mm(1 1/2" heigh. The chrome Bell has some surface marking that will not polish out. The ringer arm shows a minimal amount of surface rust but overall I would say the bell is in good condition and being GEC you can be assured of its quality, As with all the Bakelite items I sell. I have cleaned and polished the Bakelite both on professional buffing wheels(using different grades of polishing compounds) and then by hand with GPO developed Bakelite Cleaner No. 5 Paste to bring back the shine followed by 2 coats of Pure Beeswax Balsam to protect it for years to come. This is the the best possible restoration that can be carried out and is far superior to others who simply use a buffing wheel, if they really understood the nature of Bakelite and how it oxidises and dulls over time

The item for auction is an Antique/ Vintage early 1900’s Sargent& Co. Door Bell. The item when acquired would not function and was layered with years of paint. Varnish dirt and grime. The item was cleaned and restored and is now fully functional. The bell resonates very loud. The bell housing rim and bell were originally chrome plated and both items show ware of that plating which would be typical of an item exposed to the outside elements and the items age. The item features a solid brass turn lever and interior face plate which is also solid brass. Mounting brass screws are also included to mount the plate. The bell base is 4 1/8” in diameter and the face plate measures 4” long by 1 ½” wide. The bell will accommodate up to a door width of 2 1/8” The item in this lot is authentic and not reproductions. For sale I have a vintage Signal brand school/door bell in near flawless condition. The bell has been tested and it does work. The black powder coat still shines like the day it was new with no scratches. The bell itself is still shiny and free of rust. Cracks, and pits. Age has slightly discolored it, but the overall appearance makes this chime look brand new. It looks as if this bell was never actually installed or used in any way, but I can't verify that due to it's age. Typically these bells sell for $25.00-$35.00 in far worse condition that don't even work. Vintage Manual Door Bell Inside Part No. 98 R&E Mfg Co Patent Aug 1 93
Pretty nice old twist type door bell. The inside part. R& E Mfg Co New Briton, CT. Pat'd Aug 1 93. I am assuming that is 1893. I haven't cleaned it up because a lot of people like them the way they are. It appears to have varnish buildup or something that has been applied that is drying and cracking. Should be an easy clean up if you prefer. What is shown in the pictures is what you get. I do not have the twist knob that goes on the outside of the door or the outdoor backing plate. Please see the pictures. The bell does work when twisted counter clockwise.

It has a total length of 7" and height is 2-1/2" The plunger plate is 5-3/4" long X 2-5/8" wide. It has a patent date of April 28. 1874. All original. The bells sound wonderful! I am not a metal expert. But bells appear to be old brass, with remnants of nickel plating( and black paint- you can see the nice patina of the brass really well on the largest bell. Each bell complete with 3 clackers. The hanging bar is iron. Some surface oxidation, and old black paint. A magnet sticks to the clackers and the bar, but not to the bells. I’ve attached quite a few photos. Lot of Vintage doorbell door bell buttons including SNAPIT Ivory bakelite 1 nip
Here we have a lot of vintage doorbell buttons including a SNAPIT Doorbell Button. Don't know if any of these are antiques but they seem to be older doorbells. The SNAPIT is Ivory in color and looks like Bakelite. But. We are not sure if it is real Bakelite or just ordinary plastic. Looks unused. I tested it with my tester and found that it works properly. Overall dimensions are 2 5/8" high by 1 11/16" wide. When mounted it would stand 11/16" out from the wall. A paper or plastic piece could be slid in the area at the top for a name or number. The opening is 1 3/16" wide by 1/4" high. I can't tell if it is a lighted or unlighted button. There are 6 others that are loose some look new others look like they may have been used at some time.
