The tall Kokeshi doll is signed on the bottom. The bobble head pair have Kanji on the front but I don't believe they are signed, and the small old bobble head is not signed either. These four dolls came from a doll collector's estate. I am adding a hanging door bell that I purchase in the early 80's in Japan- it is a pair of Japanese raised wooden shoes with a bell at the bottom and hangs from a red cord. The smallest doll is also an early bobble head- the head moves up and down on a wooden peg- it also has a tiny hole on the bottom as if it were attached to something else at one time. This is a neat old retro fire alarm bell emergency exit lock from the 1940's. The unit itself is in really good shape and comes with original box(worn& missing lower half) 2x double-sided sheets of paperwork(template diagrams& parts lists& instructions) as shown. The door lock has small nicks/marks/wear but considering it's from the 40's it looks like it was used sparingly and is in really nice shape overall. Red crinkle-finish paint is still nice& bright. Brass is showing through in a few tiny spots of red paint nicks. This lock/alarm bell is nearly a foot long and very heavy. I believe much or most of this is brass(possibly ... moresome bronze) treated steel. No keys came with this set. Though it looks mostly complete, it comes with what's shown in photos and some of the screws/parts are still in sealed/unopened bags. I asked our local locksmith about making keys for it and he said a set of keys can still be easily made since these were well known municipal-ordered locksets and several companies(including BEST Lock Co) made these to identical specifications to meet government/fire code regulations. Amazingly both original supplied white"break glass" inserts are still intact& in very nice shape. This lock was in storage for many years so some of the paperwork is yellowed/stained. Rare Vintage Antique Nutone Door Chime Doorbell Bell Art Deco? Mid-Century Modern? Very beautiful. Solid metal. Very heavy. Measures 15 inches tall. Nearly 7.5 inches wide, almost 3 inches deep. Weighs 5.6 pounds. Made in USA. Inside label(photo#11) says Synchronous Motor by the Warren Telechron company of Ashland. Mass. Model type B3, Model# M-22. Can adjust chime bell for Soft or Loud. 20 volts. 4 PRM. Uses an electrical hook-up of some sort- but I know absolutely nothing about how it connects. The only thing I can answer is what is already in the photos. Two-tone metal. It might be brass or just gold-colored plated. Silver/ Nickel colored front piece slides in. Very good vintage cosmetic condition. Some scratches& scuffs on the nickel-colored sliding front piece. Some paint marks along the rear sides and top where paint brushes brushed ... moreagainst it over the decades when painting the nearby walls. Tiny rust spots at the very bottom(photo#7) and on the sliding front-piece. If you know how to properly clean metal. It should be great. Was in my Victorian house in Philadelphia. And already ancient when I bought the house in the mid-1980s. I hired an electrician to remove it in 1997 when I moved, and it has sat in a temperature-controlled storage unit for the past 16 years, cushioned in bubble-wrap. It worked great while it was installed. With a delightful, full-bodied(and non-annoying) chime. If I recall, it was two-rings, ding dong. I am assuming this still works. But I will not guarantee it. Unusual Antique/Vintage Brass Door Bell Pull - Shaped Like Door Knocker!
Here's a very unusual pull for an antique or vintage door bell. It's in the shape of a classic door knocker. But the handle only pulls out about an inch, there is a bolt with a felt washer that stops it from going farther. The bar that goes across the center is attached to a metal strap, which goes through a slot in the faceplate. This strap would be attached to the bell, on the inside of the door. So when a visitor would raise the"knocker" it would actually ring the bell! Very clever- I've never seen one like this before. It doesn't come with a bell, however I would think it would be fairly easy to adapt to any vintage pull-type door bell. Measures 6-3/8" top-to-bottom, the handle is 2.5" wide. This is made of solid brass, there's one old coat of white paint that would come off quite easily(it flakes ... moreoff with a fingernail) There's a nameplate that could be engraved with the house number or the owner's name. ANTIQUE/ VINTAGE HOLTZER-CABOT DOORBELL This is a really cool antique doorbell. It has a beautiful wooden case and mounting base. The case has the following printed on it: HOLTZER-CABOT ELECTRIC CO. BOSTON AND CHICAGO Dimensions of the unit are approximately 7 1/2 inches by 4 inches. The cover comes off so that the unit can be mounted on the wall through two pre-drilled holes. There is some paint on the bell and wood. Where someone painted around it when it was mounted on a wall. This should be very easy to clean up. I left the paint on it, in case someone wants this unit in it's untouched condition. The case and bell are in excellent structural condition. I verified that the bell works by connecting the wires to a 9v battery. The striker rapidly hits the bell while the electrical current is connected. It looks and sounds great! For sale. A vintage store door bell. This bell measures about 2¼” high and 3¼” across the opening. To the top of the mounting bracket it measures about 3¼” high. It weighs about 6 oz. This bell is made of iron and is in excellent condition. The silver paint is mostly in tact and appears to be original. This bell is screwed into the door frame and a string tied to the bracket arm as shown in picture#6 is then attached to the door. It looks like there was a washer near the screw thread that would keep the bell from sliding towards the door frame. A piece of string was wrapped around the shaft of the screw in order to keep the bell in place. I am including a hard rubber washer that fits tightly on the shaft as show in picture#11 that could be used instead of the string. Shipping is $3.50. Up for auction: from the 1930's. A rare and wonderful example of a No. 10 doorbell button in brown Bakelite. This particular doorbell is by William J. Murdock Company of Chelsea, Massachusetts. Murdock was best known for making radios in the 1920s, however, their push-button doorbell with the crescent moon(pictured here) is a charming piece from the broader line that was offered. This particular doorbell was salvaged from a home that was built in the early 1920's. Apparently the doorbell was added at a later date or simply purchased to replace an existing one on the home as this doorbells dates to the 1930's. Vintage Victorian or Eastlake Pull Type Door Bell - 1870's
A nice vintage door bell from the Victorian or Eastlake period. Bell has patent dates on it from the years 1870. 1872 and 1873. Piece measures about 3 3/4" across, 4 3/4 from end to end of mounting tabs and about2 1/2" tall. Bell seems to be brass on a cast base. Mechanism can be triggered by either a straight downward pull or a pull straight thru the back of the unit. Mechanism works fine and bell sounds nice.
