I recently acquired several large boxes of vintage hardware from a Simmons Hardware in McComb Ohio. Alot of these items are in a marked boxes and have hand writing on the from the old school fountain pens or even quill pens.not real sure. These items were never used and some of them have patent dates from the 1800's. Many pieces are not marked on the item itself at all. Even though these items are N.O.S. some of thes still have patina and some even have some rust from over 100 years of humidity etc. There is so much stuff I do not have the time to clean all of it so a lot of the items will be as found. Penn Antique Restoration. 18" Antique Victorian Cast Iron Door Flushbolt. Stunning. Antique, internal, slide bolt salvaged from NYC. The plate and rod/bolt is solid. Heavy, thick, cast iron, and the knob is cast brass. If you are not familiar with this type of hardware. I t's the locking mechanism installed on one of the doors in a pair of double doors. For the purpose of keeping one door stationary, while allowing the other to swing freely. Originally. We had 3 of these bolts, and we used 2 of them on the doors shown in the last 2 photos. We included these photos to give you an idea of how these bolts install and how they look once installed. At the point of salvage. The piece was dirty and covered under a thick coating of ugly, gold paint which hid much of the lovely details. Since then, we've removed the paint and cleaned ... moreand polished the plate and knob to the best of our ability. Also. Since we've cleaned and greased it, the bolt slides up and down much more smoothly. The piece in excellent condition with only tiny nicks and subtle scratches. Which are typical for pieces this old. However, there are no breaks, gouges, dents, or cracks. The spring behind the knob is strong, and won't allow gravity or a bump to retract the bolt once it's extended. They are heavy steel with now distressed bronze plating. The doorknob collars are bronze. These plates are original. NOT reproduction, circa 1900. We've done all the paint removal for you. Condition is Excellent. No cracks or chips. No paint. No rust. Perfect original mounting holes only. Perfect keyholes. No tears or rough edges. This is a hard-to-find Victorian Eastlake design by P.F. Corbin. This is the"Canton" design. c1905. Very ornate. This is a pressed steel plate with bronze plating. The bronze plating is now warmly distressed. Condition is very good. No cracks or breakage. No chips. No paint. No rust to the face. But there is miniscule oxidation on reverse. This lot contains 5 door plates. In photo. Starting on left: two like steel measure 5 3/4" X 2" They do have some minor nicks and dings and paint. The middle one: very nice brass- measures 5 3/4" X 1 3/4" The next one is steel and measure 5 1/2" X 1 1/2" It needs cleaning. The last one is steel and measures 5 1/2" X 1 3/8" It has some rust and pitting. All are in usable condition, but need some cleaning. Check pictures, and ask questions. If you are the winning bidder. Antique, interior door lockset consisting of 2 bronze knobs, 2 bronze escutcheons, 1 iron mortise lock with bronze faceplate and 1 working key, and 1 spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knobs. All bronze parts are solid bronze not plated iron. We didn't include a strike plate for the door jamb because we didn't have any ornate strikers that matches up with the lock. However. All bronze parts have lovely, Aesthetic(Eastlake) style designs. We found the parts fairly clean. With very little patina. Some parts have more patina than others. If you would prefer for us to clean all parts to a uniform finish, we could do so prior to shipping for an additional $15-email us after the auction if you're interested. All parts are in great shape with no breaks. Cracks, chips, dents, gouges, or deep scratches. The details of the plates are sharp, but the knobs have been touched so much over the past century that their central, floral motifs show signs of wear. The lock was opened, inspected, and greased to function more smoothly. We made a key to operate the lock, and we could make more for $8/key-email us after the auction if you are interested. The spindle is stuck in one of the knobs. This isn't a flaw. Because that's where the spindle belongs, but we just wanted to make you aware of it.
