I have a nice heavy cast ornate door knocker for your consideration. Beautiful example of Victorian Eastlake floral patterning cast in a heavy brass or bronze. There is some greening and patina consistent with its age. It appears that it was lightly used if at all. She'll make a loud knock. Measures approximately 6 1/2 x 3 inches. Antique Brass Door Knob Lot of 5 Victorian Vintage Home Renovating
Hi. Up for bid is a lot of 5 antique brass door knobs. They were pulled out of an old home in historical Salem MA. I took a photo of each one individually. Again you will receive all 5 antique brass door knobs you see in the photos. They are beautiful and will look even better once cleaned up and polished. The last photo I put the tape measure in so you can get an idea of their sizes. With the doorknob in the last photo(of the individual knob photos) its face is brass but backing is another metal as a magnet stuck to the back but not the brass front. They have a beautiful engraved scroll design. They are tarnished. There is some minor slashes of paint on edges and back that is easily removed. I am unsure of who made the knob as there are no makers markings or dates but I would think it was made in the late 19th century. About the 1890's. Antique Victorian Eastlake Double Door Flush Cremone Slide Bolt Jamb Lock Knob
Penn Antique Restoration. Antique BLW"Bamboo" Cast Iron Door Internal Slide Bolt. Fantastic. Antique, internal, slide bolt made by, Branford Lock Works, of Branford, CT during the late 1800's. The plate and rod/bolt are solid. Heavy, thick, cast iron. We didn't include a keeper. But you could purchase one from us for an additional $10(see 2nd to last photo) Email us after the auction if you're interested. Both the activator and bolt were originally bronze-plated. However, some of the plating wore off over the years leaving them with a nice, distressed finish. If you are not familiar with this type of hardware. I t's the locking mechanism installed on one of the doors in a pair of double doors. For the purpose of keeping one door stationary, while allowing the other to swing freely. The last photo shows a similar ... morebolt that sold awhile ago. We included the photo to give you an idea of how this flushbolt would look like once installed. The activator features BLW's very popular. Bamboo, pattern, which epitomizes the Aesthetic(Eastlake) style. The parts were salvaged from Northeastern Iowa. At the point of salvage. All parts were dirty and rusty(see 5th photo) Since then, we've cleaned all parts to the best of our ability, trying to preserve as much of the plating as possible. All parts have small nicks and subtle scrapes. Which are typical for pieces this old. However, there are no breaks, gouges, or cracks. The spring behind the lever is strong, and won't allow gravity or a bump to retract the bolt once it's extended. We greased the springs and the sliding mechanism to facilitate their functions. High-end lockset consists of 4 jet black porcelain knobs w/bronze shanks, 4 bronze escutcheons with bronze knob collars, 1 mortise lock w/brass faceplate, 1 brass strike plate for the door jamb, and 2 spindles with 4 setscrews to connect the knobs. All bronze/brass parts are solid, heavy, thick, cast bronze/brass, not flimsy stamped(pressed) or wrought bronze/brass. This set is meant for a pair of double doors. One pair of knobs engages the lock when turned. And the other, dummy, pair just sit on the other door and look pretty. The lock is reversible and could could accommodate the swing of any door. Unfortunately. There is a broken piece inside of the lock that we weren't able to fix, and as a result, the lower, deadbolt, latch ... moreis unusable. Only the upper, passage, latch works, and the lock is limited to simply keeping a door closed. The escutcheons have a wonderful. Aesthetic(Eastlake) style design. Includes both knobs the facing that covers the actual box/latches measures approximately 1 by 6 inches the box is 4 by 3 1/12 and is marked Norwalk lock co. the backplates measure 2 by 7 and the knobs are 2 inches across. Vintage Victorian door knob with non locking small mortise
Vintage Victorian door knob with non locking small mortise. These door knobs are a beautiful shape with beaded edging. I like patina and have never cleaned them. If you choose they could be cleaned up some to offer a more formal appearance. There is no key hole in the mortise that I can see. On one side there in one hole the other side has two holes. I do not know what they are for or how thy are used. I purchased them several years ago for a restoration project and never used them. I know absolutely nothing about door knobs and mortise and selling exactly as I received them. No other parts or pieces are included. No screws. You get only and exactly what is in the photo.
