Nice brass early mid century door lockset manufactured by Dexter for your consideration. This lockset comes to you nearly complete other than the two brass screws for the strikeplate catch and the original catch for the secondary locking latch that works with the turnkey. Most any brass catch would work for this. The large handle is solid brass and the thumb latch spring feels good for reuse. This set comes with two latches. One for the doorknob handle set latch and the other for the secondary locking latch. Most of the brass will clean up some as well. This is a standard 2 3/8 inch offset although it was taken off an exterior entrance door. There is no key although any locksmith could make one for this lockset. A gorgeous complete working thumb-latch set for an exterior door. Made and signed by Welch in an unusual maple leaf design, and dating from the 1920’s- 1930’s. Retaining its original darkened nickel over bronze finish, this door hardware set consists of a large exterior handle with a thumb latch and a smaller coordinating interior handle; both feature a distinctive bark design with maple leaves accenting the top and bottom. A matching thumb turn and decorative lock cylinder escutcheon continue the maple leaf motif. Pair of antique bronze thumb latch handles and backing plates. I believe these would have been a set for double doors. Handle#1(offset to the right) Nice overall condition with no cracks or breaks. There are 5 mounting holes. The down side to this one is the thumb latch part. It is not original. Somewhere along the way it was replaced with an iron one. But it is still in very functional condition. On the back of the plate the handle is held on with 2 rivites.Slight bending along the length of the plate. Handle#2(offset to the left) Nice overall condition with no cracks or breaks. Ther are 8 mounting holes, I believe 5 are original the other 3 were added. This is a Large Heavy Antique Solid Bronze Door Handle/ Pull with Thumb Latch. There is no maker's mark nor any other marks. The overall length of this large handle including the upper and lower back plates is about 10 5/8" It weighs jsut under two pounds(1 pound. 14.2 ounces) and it has a nice heavy feel. The four mounting holes in the top plate are on 1 3/4" centers horizontally and 2 3/8" centers vertically. The two mounting holes in the bottom plate are on 1 3/8" centers horizontally. The vertical center to center measurement from the bottom holes in the top plate to the holes in the bottom plate is 5 7/8" The holes in the bottom plate are also slightly inset horizontally with respect to the corresponding holes in the top plate. We do not know the age of the handle specifically nor where it was originally used. Condition: The handle is in very good condition with a few very minor nicks and scrapes from normal use over the years. There is just a little remaining reside of gummy reside from an old price sticker that will need a little more TLC to remove; you can probably see this on the photo toward the thinner part of the handle. Vintage PENN 14" Entry Commercial Mortise Lock Brass Double Thumb Latch Parts
Saved from a scraper. But some damage was already done. Pieces are a bit bent as seen, but this lock is still restorable, or useful for parts. Original cylinders are intact, but no key is with it. Both plates and the mounting plate for the lock will need straightening before polishing the brass. As best I can tell, they are solid, not plated. Lock may be disassembled further to keep shipping cost down. That being said. Shipping may not be accurately reflected by estimator. Consider it a worst case price.
