Strap Hinges with Pintles / Screws (LOT)
Lot of antique strap hinges with pintles/ screws. The big ones are about 17" and the others are around 15" Each strap hinge comes with a pintle/ screw. There is also an extra pintle though it is too small for these hinges. Some pintle holes are closed flat while some angle up a little bit(see last picture) They should all close with adequate bolt tension. 2 Arts& Crafts hammered copper strap hinges(not a pair) One hinge has the holes drilled the other does not. See photos. The hinges are not marked so age is not determined but they have nice patina except for the oxidized areas. The hinge strap measures 9 1/2" long X 2 13/16" wide at base& across diamond points. Here are 4 antique Strap Hinges for a Farm Doors or Gates in various sizes. From small to large they measure: 1) 8 1/4" full length when laid flat by 1 1/2" wide- from center of hinge to tip 4" long. Each side has holes for 3 screws. 2) 12" full lenght when laid flat by 2 5/8" wide- from center of hinge to tip- 6 1/8" long. Each side has holes for 4 screws. 3) 12 1/4" full length when laid flat by 2 1/2" and from center 6" Each side has 4 holes. 4) 16" full lenght when laid flat by 3" wide and from center 8" long. This one also has 4 holes on each side. All 4 have a lot of rust and wear but do open and close easily. The 12" one also has a bend on one side just above the tip screw hole. Here are 5 T Strap Hinges for a Farm Doors or Gates. They are each 4 1/2" wide at the top with 4 holes but the lengths vary slightly. The 3 with the white paint are each 8" full length and 6 1/4" from the hinge to the tip. The ones with more reddish rusty look- one is 7 1/4" and the other just shy of 7 1/2" and from the hinge 6" long. There all have 4 holes on this section. Pair of Antique Hand Forged Iron Strap Hinges For a Barn Door or Old Door with Primitive Hardware. Offering a pair of beautiful hand forged antique iron strap door hinges with hardware. Circa 1880’s. It appears the straps were forged as a pair because the viewable design(as it would display on a door) has the same pattern. I.e. both having two holes that are set roughly the same distance apart. Plus. The white spots are on both and the heart finials are shaped basically the same with one ticking off to the top and one to the bottom. The top hinge is 15” long and is rolled back and flatten. It has a 5/8” hole. The 15 ¾” bottom strap’s roll back is shorter and more finely forged into the main body of the strap. Perhaps because the craftsman did not have the length of material needed to make the same shaped roll back as the shorter strap. ... moreIt has a ½” hole. As for the hardware. The straight 5” drivable piece fits well under the 15” top strap. In other words. It lines up perfectly so a pin can be inserted though both pieces. All that is missing. To make the whole set complete, is the pin. The hinge pin for the bottom is 5 ½” long by 2 ½” at the widest part. The size is such that it will fit both straps if someone wanted to switch the smaller strap to the bottom for some reason. They have a beautiful aged and untouched patina with good form and design. Both have breathtaking. Well formed hearts/spears ends. They are in excellent“as found” condition. I think the white on the straps is from aged. Dried out bird poop but I’m not positive. I’ll leave the clean up to the buyer as it’s my policy to sell antiques in their original or as found condition.
