Inside of the front door was apparently painted light green but the paint should come off the brass plate quite easily. Really neat old piece, becoming harder and harder to find them complete. This is for the mail slot you see here. In great shape. No dents. Some patina. I am told it is from 1963 but not sure. Not sure how they can be sure, but that's what they said. Very well could be. Appears to be old brass. Not all of them you find have the back plate for the other side of the door. Each piece measures 10" x 3" Comes just as you see it here. There is also a hole surrounded by a brass ring for hanging on a nail or brad. A useful decorative piece that has a few surface scratches due to its age.

Vintage Cubby Hole Post Office Boxes Mail Slot Shelf Storage Kids Stuff Business
5 Cubby Hole Vintage Shelf From Post Office or Business Office Could Be Kid Stuff Organizer or Teacher Organizer You get this exact one in photo. We previously listed another similar cubby shelf that sold quickly. In downsizing. We decided to offer this, also. We have one other we are keeping. This was bought at an elderly neighbor's estate sale. Our wonderful neighbor was a local history collector and had many such organizers for separating subjects& for display. Kind of like a big shadow box. We used it for organizing kid's items/projects and for office. I do not know the age. But the nails and construction look anywhere from 1940's to 1970's. This listing is for this one in these pictures. Measures 28 1/2" in Length. 6 3/4" Tall, Depth is 8 1/2" Made of solid wood and is pretty heavy. Each cubby hole ... moreis 5" x 5" x 8 1/2" deep. The inner edges are kinda beveled/curved and the separators for each cubby-hold is nicely routed in design. It could be anchored to a wall's studs and used as an organizer in an entrance-way for kids/people. Hooks installed underneath for coats, or would make and excellent organizer for paperwork or treasures! It'd be a great addition to the top of a wooden desk! The possibilities are endless for such an item. We had ours stacked sometimes. Once used it upright for paperwork. Very heavy and well-made like things were long ago. I hope it goes to good. Antique Art Nouveau House Hardware Combination Door Knocker and Mail Slot About 8-1/2" Long x 4" Tall and the letter slot is 1-1/8" x 5" The classic Art Nouveau style of this piece makes it a little less common than the Victorian style we generally see more of. Original circa 1900-1910. Signed on front"Brock" and a patent number on the back. The paint is old but not original. The washers and nuts are newer replacements.
