There is not one scratch on it nor can you tell it was mounted. It was programed but I forget the number but super easy to change. I have a rarer"AMERICA" pattern. Hard to find, heavy iron mortise lock made by the Norwalk Lock Co. Mid to late 1800's, for your consideration. Heavy iron box construction with chunky latch and deadbolt slides. Heavy brass drive gear and brass doorknob collar as well. Backplate is cast iron. Pattern marked" AMERICA" 8937. Drive gear engages and disengages latch slide smoothly. I do not have the original key so you will not be able to lock the room while away until you either find a key that works or have one made. Face plate of box is a heavy cast brass manufacture and the strike plate is a heavy brass stamped design. Doorknob is iron with a brass collar. Thumb handle and trheaded 1/4 inch standard drive is iron. The rosette is a pressed steel. Lock box mortise cut is 3 3/8" deep x 3 1/4" high x 11/16" ... morewide. The Brass face plate is 1" x 5 3/8" x 3/16" wide. The offset includeing the thickness of the brass face plate is 2 9/16" To inside edge of face plate is 2 3/8" I included the appropriate, vintage brass stock, installation screws to save you money as well. Really a nice early quality lock for your authentic shop home or garden repair or renovation. Upon inspection, springs are strong and looks intact and ready for another lifetime of use. I have an antique cast iron rim lock with iron catch for your consideration. This is an unusual rim lock in that it has a pivoting latch bolt as opposed to the typical sliding latch bolt. See pics. Lock comes with Doorknobs. Keyhole cover and rosette that are all made of brass. Iron box measures approximately 3 x 4 inches. Some screws included as well as a standard 1/4 inch drive rod. The gear mechanism engages and disengages the latch for reuse. Although could use a good cleaning and lube. Springs feel pretty good. Privacy lock lever engages and disengages the latch mechanism for privacy while in room. There is no key so will not be able to lock the room while away until you either find a key that works or have one made for the deadbolt slide. Upon inspection was determined that these are reversible simply by opening the box with a single standard slot screw and flipping the latch slide. I am not sure if these originally had a surface mount catch or a flush strike plate although you will have to either find some thing that will work or fabricate something for your application. These have a functioning privacy slide lock with a manual brass lever. A deadbolt slide that I do not have any keys for. So you will not be able to lock the room while away until you either find one that works or have one made. Drive gear engages and disengages latches on both nicely. We put the set to the side until we could find the clip, and since we never found the clip, we completely forgot about the set. We just recently re-discovered the set, and happened to have a washer thick enough to fit the slot in the base of the knob. We cut the washer, and now, the set is ready to install. The set consists of 2 iron knobs; 2 escutcheons(1 has a thumbturn) 1 iron mortise lock with bronze faceplate; 1 steel strike plate for the door jamb; the original"McKinney" mortise cylinder w/o key; a bronze. Corbin, mortise cylinder w/1 working key and bronze anti-theft collar; and 1 spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knobs. All iron parts are solid, heavy, thick, cast iron, not flimsy, stamped(pressed) steel. Originally. All iron parts were painted with a black enamel paint, and surprisingly, most of the paint remained! In essence, the upper latch acts as a deadbolt and provides an extra level of security from anyone on the outside of the door. We have an exceptional lot of early large rim locks and accessories for your consideration. These are early manufacture. I am guessing mid to late 1800's. Excellent quality with solid cast iron boxes and chunky brass slides. Door knobs are a heavier cast brass. Knobs have original aged patina. These have a functioning privacy slide lock and a deadbolt slide that I do not have any keys for. The only key found DOES NOT work for any of these locks. So you will not be able to lock the room while away until you either find one that works or have one made. Fabulous early Yale/Vulcan lock hardware for your authentic renovation or repair.
