Old Pair Bronze Letter Door Handles-Mail Slot Antique Item # A005
An unusual proper pair of entry door pulls. One side has"cartas" for your letters. And the other side matches without the opening for the letters. Weighs in at over 6 pounds. They are approx 12 inches long and 5 inches high from top of back plate to bottom of handle. I will be getting another pair shipped to me in the near future, incase you need more than one pair. I am selling a set of 2 USED different letter/paper organizers for on a desk. The first is a dark blue and has 3 trays. You can use them separately. Or stack them together. They do lock when put together. The other organizer is a transparent blue and stands the paper up vertically. There is some light to medium scratches on the dark blue trays. Mostly on the inside the trays. So when the papers are in them, they won't be seen. There also is a 3" crack in one of the trays, but it matches up perfectly and isn't too noticeable. Vintage Antique Brass Mail Letter Slot with Integrated Door Knocker Art Nouveau
Up for auction is a wonderfully old antique or vintage combination mail letter slot and door knocker. I believe this is from the 1920s. The slot/knocker is likely solid brass. It weighs 1.3 pounds. As you can see from the photos it needs a serious cleaning/polishing- however, as I have no idea if the buyer would prefer to have this'history' cleaned off or not- I'm leaving it as is. The outside measurement of the slot/knocker is approximately 7.5" x 3.75" The inside slot opening is approximately 4.5" x 1& 1/8" The slot/knocker is in nice condition given its age- however. The spring in the back isn't working so needs repairing or replacing. The screws in the back are solidly in place. I don't if their usable or need to be removed. Up for auction is one(1) vintage and unique letter slot plate generally described as follows. This was a wall/box mounted combination plate which was designed for three functions. The primary use was a swinging door slot embossed"LETTERS" and a key locking access door to retrieve mail. The open area of the"door" held a clear glass(missing) The upper section has its' original"mouthpiece" funnel which was designed to hold an internally mounted communication microphone/speaker. Utilized to communicate with the apartment resident. The lower section"round" hole was designed to accomodate the notification buzzer/bell button. In other words the buzzer was pushed which rang a bell in the apartment. The occupant would then respond from their unit and speak to the person requesting access.
