Old antique Edwardian period solid bronze Godshill Pixie and Frog door knocker
This is for an old antique Edwardian period solid bronze Godshill Pixie and Frog/ Toad on Toadstool door knocker it also has above the Pixie a Snail and a Frog. It measures about 5" in size, the back knocker plate has two holes for fixing, the condition very good but in need of a good polish up or best left as it is with the years of natural colouring. SEE NOTE BELOW The village of Godshill on the Isle of Wight has quite an interesting story attached to it with regards to the origin of its name. And some visitors may already be aware of the lucky pixy charms which are sold in the village. Usually these charms are found in the West Country, particularly Cornwall and Devon, but until recently Godshill was the only other place where these charms could be found. In the beginning of the 15th Century it was decided to build a new church in ... morethe village. And the villagers discussed where it should built. Eventually they chose a field close to the centre of the village, and began to lay the foundations. The next day, they found that all the work had been undone, and the building materials had been moved to the top of a nearby hill. Believing that they were a victim of a prank. The grumbling villagers returned the equipment to its original place and began work once again. The following morning. They again discovered the foundations removed and placed carefully on top of the hill. This happened the next day also. And the next, until someone realised that it must have been the pixies who had moved the materials. For reasons known only to them, the pixies wanted the church to be built on the hill. So the villagers took the pixies advice and built the church on the hill, which later came to be known as God's Hill.

Antique Oak Arched Entry Door W Yale Hardware Brass Knocker Hinges Quarter Sawn This door came from a recent estate that we bought. I found it in the loft of a barn. The best I came up with was it was taken out of the house when it was remodeled in the early 70's. and stored in the barn. The original house was over 100 years old, I don't think the door is that old. I will have about 20 more old doors from the same loft listed eventually. All I did with the door was clean it off with some Murphy's soap, nothing else. The lock is marked Yale on the jam side of the door. If your looking at this then you probably know more about it than I do. So if you have questions please ask. The door is not perfect. It's old and has some character, there are a few scratches, dents etc. that I am sure can be restored with no problem by someone ... morethat knows what they are doing. I did have someone that works with wood look at the door and he told me it was quarter sawn Oak. In the Pictures I showed the measurements the best I could so you would have an idea of what you are working with. 2" thick 80" Tall 40" wide The shipping was a challenge. Not sure just how old this is but very old It has a loverly and interesting twist design to the knocker, arching from the hinge to the knocking point and ornate back plate, It is marked on the rear Dress& son it is difficult to make out the Dr.There is also 74 stamped at the rear It is 220mm long and 82mm at its widest. in very good condition for age.But one of the rear bolts is missing and there is some play in the hinge due to over a hundred years of wear,could still be fitted to door and used once bolt replaced. see my other cards decorative and collectable items Having a clear out and declutte. i will be listing so watch out for them p&p inc all packaging and travelling to post office I have a number of prints i will be listing so watch out for them

Vintage 1920s John Peel Bronze Door Knocker Horse & Hounds
In bronze. I assume, certainly a bronze color. The back plate, moulded to the front and plain to the back,is in the form of a vertically reeded pillar with a belt slung across its top pediment and the a long whip hanging from the belt and terminating in a curl at the bottom pediment. The rear of the back plate has a number impressed into it: 3594; the back plate also has a screw hole to the top and to the bottom. To allow for fixing to a door. The actual knocker attached to the back plate via a swivel at the top and is in the form of a huntsman on a horse, a horn to his mouth and with three dogs below. Beneath the dogs there is a plaque with the well known part of a verse on it: D'YE KEN JOHN PEEL" The back plate measures approximately 105 mm in length; the maximum width of John Peel's base is approximately 55 mm. THIS WAS AN ESTATE FIND FROM AN OLD GENTLEMANS WORK SHOP IN S/W MICHIGAN. FOUND ALONG WITH A LOT OF OLD HARDWARE& TOOLS. THE PIECE IS VERY OLD AND ALL ORIGINAL, NOT A REPRODUCTION. THE MAN HAD COATED MANY OF HIS HARDWARE& TOOL ITEMS OVER THE YEARS WITH THICK TAR TO PRESERVE THEM. SO I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO LIGHTLY CLEAN& REMOVE THE TAR IN ORDER TO REVEAL THE CASTING/ SCULPTING LINES, DETAILS AND MAKERS MARKS CAST INTO THE REVERSE SIDE OF THE PIECE. This brass door knocker is stamped on the back: STOVER MFG CO. FREEPORT ILL. I researched this company name and found it was in business under this name from 1879 through 1942. This heavy cast brass piece is in good used condition with a nice patina. It is 5.5" long and 4.25" wide. RARE! Trinity Hall Antique Brass Door Knocker Cambridge UK
Up for auction is this rare. Trinity Hall door knocker. Highly doubt you will ever find another! Crescent on a shield and reads, Trinity Hall ad 1350, which is when the collage was built. It is 4 1/2 inches tall and almost 2 inches wide. There is a lot of info online, that I've been researching. I strongly believe that this came from Trinity Hall in Cambridge UK. The dorm rooms burnt down in 1901 or so, cause was an electrical fire. Due to the patina and way it was built, I would say It's from the late 1800's. It is in great useable condition with lite normal wear and aged.
