The set includes 2 brass knobs, 2 stamped brass escutcheons, 1 iron mortise lock with brass faceplate, 1 working key, 1 brass strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 spindle with 2 set screws. All brass parts are solid brass. Not plated steel. Originally, all brass parts were copper plated, however, the majority of the copper wore off over the years. At the point of salvage all parts were covered under many coats of paint. And were dirty and tarnished(see last photo) Since then, we've removed the paint, and cleaned and polished all parts to the best of our ability. The set is in great. Working condition, but the parts do have cosmetic blemishes. Both knobs have dents along their sides, and one knob has some dents on the bottom of its base, the exterior escutcheon has a few subtle dents around and below its keyhole, the interior escutcheon has dents and scratches around its keyhole and a 3/8" crack in its lower, lefthand corner, which is hard to spot unless you look for it, and the lock faceplate and strike plate have nicks and scratches(see photos) None of the aforementioned blemishes are structural threats, and are more like, character marks, that enhance the aged look of the set. About the lock: The lock is reversible and could accommodate the swing of any door. The buttons on the lock faceplate control a function. Which disables/enables the exterior knob. Once the bottom button is depressed, the exterior knob cannot be turned and the triangular-shaped"passage latch" on the lock will remain extended, in the locked position. In essence, the"passage latch" acts as a secondary deadbolt and provides an extra level of security from anyone on the outside of the door. Once the exterior knob is disabled, and the door is shut, the only way to retract the upper latch is by using the key or by turning the
