The set consists of 2 brass knobs, 2 brass escutcheons, 1 iron mortise lock with brass faceplate, 2 working keys, 1 brass strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 spindle with 2 setscrews. All brass parts are solid, brass, not plated steel. The knobs and escutcheons have lovely oval forms. Embellished with bold, beaded borders. The set was found with a beautiful patina. Which we didn't want to disturb. However, if you like you hardware bright and shiny, we could clean and polish the set for an additional charge of $30- email us after the auction. All parts are in great shape with only the typical nicks and scratches that you would expect to find on century-old hardware. However. There are no breaks, cracks, chips, dents, or gouges. About the lock: The lock is reversible and could accommodate the swing of any door. The buttons on the lock faceplate control a function. Which disables/enables the exterior knob from turning. Once the bottom button is depressed, the exterior knob will not turn, and the upper latch will remain extended, in the locked position. In essence, the upper latch acts as a deadbolt and provides an extra level of security from anyone on the outside of the door. Once the exterior knob is frozen, and the door is shut, the only way to retract the upper latch is by using the key for the top keyhole, or by turning the interior knob. This is a very convenient feature for the person inside of the house/room. No more locking and unlocking to let someone in. Simply turn the knob, open the door, let someone in, close the door and it's already locked. To disable the auto-lock feature, simply push the top button. We opened and inspected the lock. The outside drawers are slightly larger and have nice original butterfly pulls. The 2 center drawers have simpler. But very decorative pulls. The ends and back are also raised panels. The vertical frame between the drawers and the stepped stretcher below the drawers have a molded detail which carries down the inside of the legs. There is a Lattice footrest between the legs. This is a well ... moreworn but charming piece. The left legs are approx. 1/2" shorter than the right legs and leans slightly as shown in the photos. We prefer to leave it as is. Bur can be easily corrected with slight blocking attached to the bottom of the left legs or trimming the right legs to match the left. The are some repairs to the lattice footrest and the front stretcher of the footrest is curved down in the front from many years of the weight of feet resting on it. I have a nice reusable cast iron rim lock for your consideration. Could use a cleaning and lube with the removal of a single standard slot set screw. Driverod gear spring works latch. Marked RH Co. on box and 250 1/2 on the catch. There is no deadbolt key for the deadbolt slide however. Could be used without it with manual locking slide lever that engages and disengages locking latch. Rim lock box measuring 4 1/8 x 3 1/8 inches. Antique Victorian icebox lock catch hinges vintage cast brass ice chest hardware
I have a nice set of ornate Victorian Eastlake cast brass icebox hardware for your consideration. Includes three nice hinges that open and close smoothly. Measure 4 1/8 x 2 inches. A nice large surface rim lock with ornate Eastlake patterning. Hinged handle, and latch. measures 4 5/8 x 2 3/8 inches. It works nicely as well although there is no key for locking mechanism. As well, there was a repair on the right hinge pin. Looks like it was replaced with a brass pin. As the original would have been iron. There was a small amount of grinding marks where the repair was. Not very noticable but I wanted to make you aware. See last two pics closely. And a nice hard to find matching catch for latch. All are cast brass with no cracks or breaks. The back service panel on lock is iron and has a date June 28th 1887. Hard to read date. 5 pieces in this ... moreset. Nice set for renovated furniture, cabinet, or cupboard as well. I am selling an antique metal hardware plate of some kind. The metal plate has a very ornate pattern that is cast on the surface. I am not sure of the application for this piece of metal. It is approximately 5 inches long and almost 2 inches wide. The metal has superficial rust on both sides. It looks like it may have been painted black at one time and the paint looks like it is peeling off of the back side. There is a place for a screw on each end of the front surface to mount it somewhere. I just don't know where. It could be a handle for a door or furniture? Some of it I purchased in a rehab'd condition. some look as if painted, particularly the complete sets on the upper right of the large picture. Materials include steel, brass, glass, porcelain and I think one knob set is solid copper. shown in close-up) Some doorknobs have trim plates. Notable condition disclosures One of the ornate Victorian door plates has been repaired with an automotive grade epoxy. It's amazingly strong and the repair is invisible from the front. Miscellaneous knobs on lower left of picture are strays and one knob is dented and the white porcelain knob bent from the post. Everything else is normal wear and tear. The pics show everything. I accumulated these over time but never used most of what I bought. I hate charging more for shipping ... morethan actual cost. If you overpay. I enclose a refund. The door is made of solid White Pine and features a removable window panel with 2 Plexiglass lites and 2 flat glass lites. At the bottom of the door, there is 1 horizontal, raised panel. The glass is secured in place by glazier's putty, and the putty is still strong and in good shape. Hardware: The door comes fully equipped with hardware: 1 brass knob. 1 brass lever, 2 brass escutcheons(plates) 1 steel mortise lock with brass faceplate, 1 brass pull/handle, and 3 brass-plated, butt hinges. Condition: The door is strong. Sturdy, and in good overall condition. It has break in the lower, hinge stile corner on the exterior side and slight break in upper corner of window ... morepanel.
