Up for auction is this very nice in great condition antique dated 1897 floor. Ceiling or wall register or grate. This was found at an estate sale, a home redone for the 1890's register is in 3 pieces, the pictures really show the details well. Manufactured in Dubuque, Iowa at the Adams Company in 1897. Up for auction is a Decorative Vintage Victorian Cast Iron Round Floor Register Heat Vent Grate. The grate is round and it is a bit rusty color. But not pitted, with the residual original black paint. There’s a slide lever on the front that moves the three louvers easily. The motion is flawless and they stay open, or closed. There appears to be an"S" in the center of the design. It measures 8-3/8” in diameter on the front and 6- 3/4” on the back. And the back depth is 1 ¾” Please take a good look at the photos for the condition. This is heavy. And well made, with great detail. I have not seen one like it. I am offering up for auction a VTG OLD Antique Chinese Dragon floor grate Cast iron Heat Grid register. This came from a estate sale here in Pa. This has a Chinese dragon type motif at least it looks like it to me to be dragons with the teeth coming down. The edge has lines and corners are a waffled look. This measures approximately 9 1/2 by 11 3/4 inches. And 1 3/4 inches tall. There is a 7/8 of a inch lip on the underside from the edge to the part that sits into the floor. The part that sits into the floor is tapered and is approximately 7 1/2 by 9 3/4 inches and 1 3/4 inches tall. This is dirty needs cleaned is missing the inside fins and mechanical pieces. It has rusting and pithing(pitting and scaling) it was stored in a basement at ... morea estate sale of a old house. This has old paint on it. I have only the one. It is in well used condition. The grate is made for 8 inch duct and the total diameter is 9 1/2 inchesThe grate is in good working order.Has no breaks or cracks but most of the black paint is missing and has surface rust.It is 2 1/2 inches deep with the louvers closed.If cleaned and painted it would make a great ornate heat grate.Made by the Tuttle& Bailey Mfg. Vintage steel round floor heat register vent grate
Your looking at a round decorative floor register. I removed the caked on coats of paint to make it easy for the buyer to apply their own color. I also cleaned and gave the louvers a light coat of flat black paint. The decorative part was left unpainted and the bare steel is showing. I done this so the register was clean to handle for the buyer and so they will have a small amount of preparation to paint it. The rough opening measurement is 8 inches in diameter. Overall is 9 1/2 inches in diameter. The louvers function properly. Look at my pictures they are part of my description. antique cast iron primitive yet decorative grate, wall or floor hardware decor
This grate is 12" X 10" across decorative cast iron face. It is currently 2 1/2" deep from CI front to back of tin; the tin and galvanized strip will come right off if buyer would like me to remove it for thinner package(it would then be just over an inch thick) It was applied to adapt grate. And I can easily cut off with tin snips if wanted. The lever to open and close trap is a bit sticky from paint, but works and will loosen up; it is highlighted in photograph#2.

And needs hole size of 17 1/8 x 14 1/8(1/2" deep) If using only inside portion. This measures 9 1/4 x 12 1/4 and requires hole size of 10 3/4 x 13 3/4(is 2 1/2" deep as well) Heavy and ornate- this is a must have for Victorian rehabs and remodels.
