Stayed at a fabulous B&B in South Dakota- made even more heaven by the fact that they also had an antique store on the property. I shopped in several other locations in both states and brought home some great primitives. Advertising, pottery, and all in all interesting finds. Before I left, I went to a new farm auction, and an estate auction- so I have a BUNCH of new items this week- I’ll be posting every day, so be sure to check back! Now. I have a customer that buys lion related items, and that's who I was thinking of when I saw this beauty- but anyone will truly appreciate it. What I have is an antique drawer pull in the shape of a lion's head with the round pull handle in his ... moremouth. It measures 2 1/16" tall in all, with the round pull being the widest at 1 3/8" wide/diameter. The ring is made of steel that once(appears to have) had a brass colored finish. The lion is made of a metal that a magnet does not stick to- it's either spelter with a brass finish, or brass, with a very dark patina. I truly can't tell wich for sure, but my gut is the first one. It is in excellent solid and sturdy condition. There's a very dark patina, and light surface rust on the pull ring- very ligh. This one has loooots of character to spare. Folk Art Wooden Red Head Woodpecker Door Knocker Pull Cord - PRIMITIVE HANDMADE
This is another one of the doorknocker's taken off the cottage that was being torn down. This is a very Old and Primitive homemade hand crafted piece. Woodpecker sits on a flat piece of wood that measures 9 3/4" by 2 1/4" wide. The black paint is chipped off and you can see green paint underneath. There is a hole in the flat wood where the bird pivots up and down on a metal rod. There is a sisal rope with a wood dowel end that is attached to the woodpecker. This runs down behind the wood in a channel for pulling to get the woodpecker to knock. The wooden worn red-headed woodpecker makes a life like knocking sound when it taps on the flat wood. Board has holes for screws and the old screws are included. The woodpecker has a missing 3-d wing on the left. You can see the outline of where the wing sat should you want to replace ... moreit. The bird used to be white and cream and most all of the paint is all chipped off. Still a great example of an old folk art piece of creativity. Great doorknocker collectable. Magnificent! Very old wonderful door pull. Please see the photos of the back. I cleaned a small spot that showed copper. I scraped along the edge and it looks like it could be either be solid or plated with copper. I did not want to go further so as to leave it up to the buyer to clean it. There are layers of old paint or varnish on the front. This is truly a fab piece. On the back is signed RHco and MORTAIN. It measures 15 1/2 in long x 3 1/2 w. On the very bottom could be damaged but it is so warn and polished with age. Could have been the way it was made, see photo. Unusual Antique/Vintage Brass Door Bell Pull - Shaped Like Door Knocker!
Here's a very unusual pull for an antique or vintage door bell. It's in the shape of a classic door knocker. But the handle only pulls out about an inch, there is a bolt with a felt washer that stops it from going farther. The bar that goes across the center is attached to a metal strap, which goes through a slot in the faceplate. This strap would be attached to the bell, on the inside of the door. So when a visitor would raise the"knocker" it would actually ring the bell! Very clever- I've never seen one like this before. It doesn't come with a bell, however I would think it would be fairly easy to adapt to any vintage pull-type door bell. Measures 6-3/8" top-to-bottom, the handle is 2.5" wide. When we use bifurcated rivets. We need a needle nose plier, a hammer, a power drill and the suited drill bit. When we use simple pins, we only need a hammer. Here for your consideration is a set of 8 old cast iron drawer pulls. These pulls measure 4 inches in total length. The screw holes are 3 1/4 inches center to center, total overall height is about 2 inches. As the pictures show they still have some of the old black finish on them, I don't think it would take much to remove it but that is up to the buyer. Antique Door Handle Pull Knob for Lock Set Dead Bolt Black Finish Bronze Brass
Please use the Supersize Feature on our pictures at the top and below the description as we consider them to be a very important part of our auctions- our photos show great detail and they are about the next best thing to"being there" Here is a really nice piece of antique hardware. Ready to be used on your next restoration project. This piece is meant to fit over a dead bolt or lock set/ knob. This door handle or pull has its original matte black finish with some minor scuff marks and scratches revealing the shiny brass or bronze underneath. The only marking I found on this door handle is a zero with a slash through it- not the normal forward slash aught symbol, but the number 0 with a backward slash\ through it. This old door pull measures 11 ½” long from top to bottom. The top portion is 4” x 2 15/16” on the outside edges ... moreand the inside circle or hole is 2 5/8” wide. The arched handle is 6 ¾” long. Has a rise of 1 ½” and is ¾” wide at the top of the rise. The bottom piece is diamond shaped and is 1 ½” squared. There are 2 pre-drilled holes in the top portion and one at the bottom for mounting, and those areas are decorated with a hammered look detail. Each hole has an inset depth of 1/8” and will accommodate a screw between 1/8” and 3 1/16” Please feel free to ask any questions that you might have– I am always happy to answer! LARGE OLD SOLID BRONZE DOOR PULL, ARTS AND CRAFTS DETAILED CUTOUT DESIGN 1900?
We have here an absolutely beautiful door pull in solid bronze. This is a large door pull and would be best adorning a fairly massive door. The whole thing measures 17&1/2" tall and the pull itself is a significant 11" long. The top plate has a hole for a lock to be set in and a keyhole beneath it. This plate measures just under 6&1/2" tall and 3" wide. The hole has a diameter of just about 1&1/4" The bottom plate measures just over 4&1/2" x 3" and has four small holes(one in each corner) for screwing the plate to the door. Each of these panels has a stunning star burst design repeated throughout and cut out details along the edges(please see photos) The handle itself is heavy bronze and is done in an artistic vertical twist of metal. I believe this piece to be from the Arts and Crafts era ... morebased on the design. It is not a new item and does have wear and patina from age.
