ORNATE BRASS DOOR PULL & ESCUTCHEON PLATE-COOK COUNTY,IL. COURT HOUSE-1870's
What we have here is a large. Ornate, cast brass door pull and escutcheon plate with lock. This outfit is about 13" tall by 4-1/4" wide and weighs in at about 4-1/2lbs. I have been told that this item came from the Cook County Courthouse when it was converted to a private office building in the 1980's. The SEAL OF THE COUNTY OF COOK, ILLINOIS is cast into the plate at the bottom. The lock is present, but just sits loose in its opening and is removable. There is a maker's logo cast into the plate on the reverse side, but is indistinct.it appears to be"Y&T" surrounded by a clover leaf shape. This piece has a heavy age patina, but will certainly polish up nicely if desired. This is a nifty bit of Chicago-Cook County history. Thanks for bidding, R.W.

I am selling an antique metal hardware plate of some kind. The metal plate has a very ornate pattern that is cast on the surface. I am not sure of the application for this piece of metal. It is approximately 5 inches long and almost 2 inches wide. The metal has superficial rust on both sides. It looks like it may have been painted black at one time and the paint looks like it is peeling off of the back side. There is a place for a screw on each end of the front surface to mount it somewhere. I just don't know where. It could be a handle for a door or furniture? It might be the end plate for a certain old door lock? It would be interesting to know. I will try to answer any questions that you may have. Thanks

Most of these items came from an old Victorian home that has passed into history many years ago. This door knob and assembly is the type that attaches to the surface of the door. Not mortised in. It has 1 shaft cover and 1 key hole cover and could use a cleaning. Knob's have a couple of marks such as, paint splatter and some very small rough spots like it was dragged on ground( on the edges see photo closeup's) and on face, I do not see cracks or big chips but still works easily and will look good all cleaned up. Nice period piece. Approximately 10"x3" The beautifully shaped back plate and handle boasts of the same design featuring double diamonds on scrolling leaves or vines on a textured background with a smooth border at the edges. These beautiful door knob sets come from a house in New England which was built in 1890. I do not know the age of the knobs. They are in excellent working condition. I am selling them as complete sets. With all plate and strike screws, all set screws, strike plates and mortise locks. There are nine privacy sets and two passage sets in all. If need be, I can get my hands on a few more if you would like to outfit your entire house with the same hardware. Old Western Door Knocker with Spur, Horse Shoe, Wagon Wheel and Name Plate
Old western door knocker. Makeup of this item includes a Spur. A horseshoe, a wagon wheel, and a name plate. The nameplate was never engraved. The spur rotates and the wheel turns. It measures 4 1/4 inches wide by 9 1/4 inches high. It has a raised design around the perimeter with beveled edges. It is made of a type of brass I believe. It has a heavy patina and various amounts of corrosion. I did wash the dirt and dust off of it and rubbed a small area on the back to check on the material. It is not magnetic. I faintly remember seeing it on a shelf in my dads workshop when I was a kid. It is old and would look good on a ranch house door or cabin.

Vintage early 1900 Bronze Door Pull and Push Plate
Dimensions: 17-5/8" x 3-3/4" Weight: 7 lbs together. These items come from the University of Wisconsin and were sold as surplus. They are made of stamped steel and were originally brass plated. Most of the brass has remained, but there are a few spots were it has worn away giving them a nice, distressed touch. The pulls were salvaged from central Missouri. At the point of salvage. The pulls were found dirty, lacquered, and heavily tarnished. Since then, we've cleaned them to the best of our ability, trying to preserve as much of the brass plating as possible. There are marks inside of the recessed"cup" areas that appear to be scratches.
