Co. of New Britain, CT around the turn of the previous century. The set consists of 2 cast brass knobs, 2 stamped brass escutcheons, 1 iron mortise lock with bronze faceplate, 2 working keys, 1 brass strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 spindle with 2 set screws to connect the knobs. All brass/bronze parts are solid brass/bronze, not brass plated steel. The knobs and escutcheons have a stunning French style design featuring fleur de lis. Prim roses, leaves, cartouches, and various geometric shapes. All parts were found dirty and unevenly tarnished(see last photo) Since then. We've clea ned and polished all parts to a uniform finish. VINTAGE APARTMENT/HOTEL ROOM DOOR BUZZER INTERCOM SPEAKER PLATE ~ VISITOR PHONE
This came from an estate sale and looks like it might've been from the 1930's or 1940's. It's the wall mount plate for in an apartment or hotel room. That was connected to the main system in the lobby that a visitor could access and buzz& call up to a room to announce themselves. It looks like you might first hear a buzzer through the small pattern of holes at the bottom, and then speak in to the round grill at the top. You would then listen with the hand-held ear piece when it's removed from the trip lever while speaking to the person in the lobby. There's also a push button, most likely for opening the main door downstairs. The hand held listening device is missing the thread on cover. Also included are an extra deco round trim for the top speaker, plus another listening device which is also missing a thread-on ... morecover. This is being sold as is, as a display item in non-working condition with missing parts. As a vintage display piece, the last photo shows that you might be able to spread the tabs on the extra speaker deco trim, and fit it around the ear piece for looks only, however that's just a suggestion and it might not work.

Very heavy and ornate. They are in great condition. Patina intact. This is one of the vintage Farm items and Primitives recently picked up at an old Merriville Indiana estate that was being auctioned off at the site of what was Family Farm, the home was built in 1872 and many old items were stored here for years till the last family member passed at 99 years old. Here is a GORGEOUS vintage antique door key hole plate cover. It measures 9" long x 3' wide with the middle area actually being a 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" separate recessed insert piece. Set of two F C Linde Hardware Door Plate backplate key hole keyhole pieces. They measure approx 2 x 5 inches x.5 inches. Fantastic pattern. I believe these are bronze over brass, or maybe just brass(not positive) They are marked on the back F C Linde& Co Cresskill NJ.
