VINTAGE 1956.61,72 SMALL BRASS P.O.BOX DOOR w/ hinges & frame
This is a brass with glass Post Office Lockbox door manufactured and put in service in various years. It measures 3 3/4" wide by 5" tall. It is called Grecian Style. They were made by several companies. It is working properly& I put a drop of sewing machine oil in it. They are no longer using doors with glass inserts when installing more in a post office- for security purposes. Therefore these are now collectables. If you buy more than one I will be shipping together to lower costs. The combination dial still works easy. It is written on the back of a postal sorting card by hand. I will be selling quite a few of these. The backside of these doors are like the larger ones shown but smaller in size. If you are planning on making a bank I will send screws too. 2 antique adjustable cast iron barn door hinges. Marked J.E. Porter Co, Ottawa, ILL. They both have 2 door adjustments, in and out and up and down. The wheel assembly is marked Queen D16, the lower door bracket is marked D171. The wheels measure 2-3/4 inches in diameter, the overall size of the hinge 6 inches wide by 11 inches tall, the door mounting bracket is 4-1/2 wide and 5-1/2 inches tall. The hinges are in top condition with no cracks, chips or breaks, they retain some of the original silver painted finish.

Both pairs are in very good shape. However one of the hinges seen in photo#6. Is missing the little finial at the one end. These hinges are very heavy in material weight 2 lbs. 4 oz. pair. The photos show these hinges open and closed. Could use a good cleaning and oiling. The holes seen at top of these hinges is where you would go in to adjust the spring. So I was told.
