Older estate find. This auction is for a pair of vintage cast iron shutter hinges marked on the backs of each"ON HOUSE" and"ON BLIND" Blind is a another word for shutter. These type of hinges are made so the shutter can be lifted off for cleaning or painting. Also once the shutter is opened it"locks" by dropping down in a notch so it has to be lifted slightly to close. I believe these are called Shepard hinges from what I could find in a turn of the century hardware catalog, or at least similar to that type. Antique Matching Set of 3 Large 4" x 4" Victorian Brass Plated Cast Iron Hinges
Up For Auction A Matching Set of Three 4" x 4" Hinges(auction is for the set of 3) Brass Plated Cast-Iron beautiful restored condition Cleaned. Polished, and sealed. These hinges have no looseness, or play in them when they are opened. A high quality set of hinges that have not been abused. A couple of areas the brass plating was thin so the iron shows through, these areas polished up nicely so they appear shiny silver, not noticeable as they blend in with the shiny brass as seen in the photos. The pins come out with a little effort(by hand) as they fit tightly, the other ball knob on the other end of the hinge unscrews out. The came out of a really old farmhouse off the front door, after removing several heavy coats of paint the brass was revealed! The black background on the hinges show the brass detailing even better.

2 antique adjustable cast iron barn door hinges. Marked J.E. Porter Co, Ottawa, ILL. They both have 2 door adjustments, in and out and up and down. The wheel assembly is marked Queen D16, the lower door bracket is marked D171. The wheels measure 2-3/4 inches in diameter, the overall size of the hinge 6 inches wide by 11 inches tall, the door mounting bracket is 4-1/2 wide and 5-1/2 inches tall. The hinges are in top condition with no cracks, chips or breaks, they retain some of the original silver painted finish.

Another one of my estate sale Relics. The hinges are estate fresh. And could use a detailed cleaning. The hinges are cast iron with a brass pin. The hinge on the rights pin is half way out and needs to be pounded back in. I put some water on the right hinge to bring out the details. The hinges would have been door hinges for a very old cabinet. They measure 2 1/2in tall x 3 1/2in wide, opened flat. These aren't trunk hinges, and would have gone on a door. These are in good condition with rust and pitting with almost all of it found on the back side. These were brass plated but now most of that is long gone. The spots of bass left and the age darkened area’s gives these a rather unique look. These are very heavy duty and will handle most doors. These solid bass pins remove rather easily but you still should follow a few precautions. Because these have solid ... morebrass pins so you should not use a screwdriver under the pin top to remove them but rather us a flatted nail or better yet a punch to push the pin out from the bottom. You also should not use a hammer to strike the pin top directly but rather use a piece of wood positioned on the top of the pin before hitting it. I do have more sets just like these listed but with much less rust and pitting on the back side. Please check out all my other vintage and antique hinges I have listed. Oil has been applied but they should have a final cleaning and clear coated or painted for continued protection. Please take a look at the many other antique hardware items I have listed. Antique Cast Iron Door Hinges w Detailed Vine Embossing 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 Victorian
Original Victorian cast iron steeple tip loose pin butt hinges manufactured during the last half of the 19th century- the top pin can be removed and the hinge becomes two pieces for mounting purposes. This type of hinge can be used on either side of the door and are not handed. The hinges measures 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" restored and in excellent condition. These hinges are ready to go on your door- no breaks or cracks. We know that these hinges are old as we salvaged them and restored them. From home 150 years old. One pair is two complete hinges as shown comes with the screws.

Offered at no reserve a beautiful set of 9 matching Victorian-era-steeple-topped door hinges from a box in a Petersburg estate. We will be listing a few more hinge sets from this same box so please see my other items for sale. Victorian style but marked only 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" I believe these are cast iron but could be thick steel as each weighs nearly 1/2 a pound. They have a great embossed detailed design and the metal is clean and rust free. I did take a pin out and there was quite a bit of rust on it. I believe they were cleaned at some point as the people having the estate liked old metal things and the man liked to work on these objects. They have specks of white residue here and there at the top of some of the pins. But I see no signs of these ever ... morehaving been used other than that. No chips, cracks, breaks, or repairs and all the pins are original. Look at my photos closely and you'll know just how nice these are. Highly unusual to find 9 old matching hinges in this condition. I have for auction a nice lot of drawer pulls. Latches, hooks, hinges, casters and 2 antique heavy cast iron flanges/base. The first one looks like some lamp fixture as there's a hole right next to the center where a pull chain may have been, it measures about 3 1/4" across, stands about an inch high and weighs 5 ounces. The other heavy cast iron piece looks like a handle, it's completely round in the center, 3 1/2" across, about 1/4" thick and it weighs just shy of 6 ounces. There's an E 233 on the other side. They were cast in the late 1800's from heavy duty cast iron. These are in good condition with little or no wear on the pins. The casting is smooth nicely textured from age and have all the dents and scratches a set of hinges over 125 years should have. I stripped all the paint layers and washed with water to prepare it for paint or clear coat finish. They are raw cast iron. Buy them in this condition and save your self painting costs and put on you own favorite color. They are 3 7/16" long at the pin and 2 5/16" wide laying open and 7/16" thick when closed.
